@flamingo40 - Welcome Smile A few newbies were asking the same question as you in the previous thread. I'd highly recommend reading through it for some pointers.

Redcrayons · 02/04/2021 19:48

@StanleyR38 I declare everything. The only time I haven’t is when I’ve been Paid in vouchers, but I haven’t done any like that for a while.

Ejsk · 02/04/2021 20:00

@CoconutQueen Thank you for asking this, I’ve just assumed it was an error, but will take a look at the Allen connect site tomo!

whysotriggered · 03/04/2021 00:45

@StanleyR38 money from surveys should be included as far as I know.

seizethecuttlefish · 03/04/2021 07:14

@StanleyR38 I think we talked about this in another thread and you declare it.

On the subject of surveys. Money Saving Expert has a good list of survey sites and payouts. I'll try and put the link here but mumsnet and I do not get on when it comes to links, so you might have to search.

It seems I've got my answer on getting a newer phone for uTest. I was personally emailed last night to take part in a Usability cycle (£75) as they are desperate for people that are in a particular category (Over 40 in my case Grin ) but couldn't find enough people with a newish phone. They are happy for me to do it with my elderly phone as they need my elderly opinions.

I've also found some comments on the uTest forums about having a iPhone 8 as minimum. I'm going to look at Music Magpie on Ebay and do the interest free credit over a year. (Sorry Dave Blush) Need to decide between an 8 and an XR now.

AnotherOne4 · 03/04/2021 10:44

@seizethecuttlefish - Just taken a quick peek at the link (will take a better look later, as there are quite a few on there I've not heard of).

He has some advice on there about tax, which is helpful.

I've had a go at number 7 - Branded Surveys. It's a very time consuming one.

Has anyone else tried any of the others?

YonderTweek · 03/04/2021 14:22

Yay! I feel like I'm back in the game after a few drier months. I've not had all of my projects uploaded on Ap, but so far my total for march is just over £1200 which I'm chuffed about. Grin I hope April will be a good month too. I would absolutely love a new bigger project! I'm crossing my fingers I could join you lot for some potato peeling soon as it's been about nine months since I passed the initial test...

I think the new A%%r round is starting next week too. I really want to do it again. It's the highlight of my month. Haha.

swiftt · 03/04/2021 14:41

Can I ask how long it took everyone to get started with Appen? I’ve been accepted to a couple of jobs apparently, I can see them in my projects but the actual work button says to come back later. I’ve had an email asking me to send my resume too.

swiftt · 03/04/2021 14:42

Sorry, forgot to star out the name. Blush

Gatekeeper · 03/04/2021 19:10

I am embarrassed to ask as I've been with App**n for over a year but what is frt and srt Blush

seizethecuttlefish · 03/04/2021 19:14

@AnotherOne4 I'm on Prolific and it's not too bad. None of the filling in loads just to get screened out, which drives me mad. I find yougov very slow and don't really do it now. I was on Tulona but again was slow. I'm going to have a look at the realist tonight. I think there's a few people that use Qmee here.

OP posts:
seizethecuttlefish · 03/04/2021 19:16

@Gatekeeper SRT is the tool to access work. It's a FB site. FRT, I think, is their more basic version. I had a few projects which started on FRT and moved over to SRT.

AnotherOne4 · 03/04/2021 20:21

@seizethecuttlefish - Yeah, I'm on Prolific, Qmee etc, all the usuals that get mentioned here. I do have some spare time, so wouldn't mind testing out a site that doesn't get mentioned here much.

On another note - One of Martin (Lewis) tips, is DON'T store cash in survey accounts, as if a site goes under; your cash goes with it.
That got me a little worried, as I have a fair to cash out on Prolific and a few others Blush

Increscendo · 03/04/2021 22:18

I am new here! I joined few of the websites linked here and waiting to get accepted.
I just did the test on Crisp and got 18 out of 20, but the pass mark is 19. Can I take the test again?

Frenchdoors1 · 03/04/2021 22:23

Yes, you can take the test as many times as you want Smile
unicornpoopoop · 03/04/2021 22:42

I went to check when Amur is live and when clicking work this, it's now coming up with the application questionnaire. I can still get onto the project page from my emails though. Anyone else having this? Not sure if I'm meant to re-fill it in or not

Increscendo · 03/04/2021 23:20

Thanks @Frenchdoors1

AnotherOne4 · 04/04/2021 12:12

@swiftt - how you getting on with WWW? I'm thinking of giving it a go....

swiftt · 04/04/2021 12:26

@AnotherOne4 not sure yet, I submitted my offline assessment last week but haven’t heard anything. I’m not hopeful of passing it if I’m honest, I’ve no transcription experience and it took me ages to get through the online assessments. Blush

AnotherOne4 · 04/04/2021 12:35

@swiftt - I've no transcription experience either Confused I think I might give it a go.
Good luck! I hope you pass. Keep us updated, and I shall do the same Smile

peabrainer · 04/04/2021 14:14

Just joined Appn. But no idea which projects to apply for. Does anyone have advice on where to start? Also, I've noticed people referring to long term projects- how do you know which these are? I have applied for A''r which sounds brilliant, but is it hard to get accepted? How long do people have to wait? I failed the Poll''k test, but might try again. For those that have passed - do you find this is a good payer? Thank you in advance, this thread is brilliant!

Gatekeeper · 04/04/2021 15:23

Thank you @seizethecuttlefish

peabrainer · 04/04/2021 15:30

Oops not sure what happened with the Bold in my last message.
Also what is Appen China?
Thank you

Redcrayons · 04/04/2021 18:47

@peabrainer apply for all the ones you think you can do. It can take ages for them to actually start and you may not get selected even if you’ve qualified. I’ve been accepted for A* one for 2 months and but not been on the project.

I don’t think you know if it’s a long term one till it starts.
