Welcome to the March thread everyone.

The idea of the thread is to earn a bit of extra cash. There are a few ways to do this. I'm sure some of our regulars can add to this. But here's some ideas.

www.connect.appen.com this is a site where you can sign up for micro projects and some longer term projects.
www. crispthinking.com social media moderation
www.lionbridge.com projects
www.utest.com user testing
www.prolific.co surveys
www.intellizom.com short one off tasks
www.clickworker.com short one off tasks

I'm sure I've forgotten loads. If you want to look over previous months, there are loads of pervious threads in this section.

@MoreMoneyPlease, did you do the Neevo calls in the end? I'm still waiting!

WizardOfAus · 03/03/2021 20:33

I’ve been accepted onto Am*r for March. I was excited until I saw the products I had to purchase.

Reading through the comments, it sounds like everyone has mostly been assigned rubbish to buy.

Has anyone actually bought anything exciting and useful? I can just imagine my house filling with things I don’t need and this is only my first month!

Dancingdolphins · 03/03/2021 20:36

@WizardOfAus basically I hope for things I can return if it's a UK site with good returns. If not I try and buy something I might want it given a choice. If not I sell them on eBay afterwards or give them away to friends/family. There is a lot of shit though. I am not gutted with mine though this time.

AnotherOne4 · 03/03/2021 20:40

This Am*r stuff. How does it work?
You purchase items, and get to keep them? Why do some of you talk about returns?

MoreMoneyPlease · 03/03/2021 20:42

@Catatemyhomework I did them last week, but I only managed a few hours because there didn't seem to be any customers whenever I logged on. Hopefully, they'll come back again with a few more customers!

Dancingdolphins · 03/03/2021 21:01

@AnotherOne4 yes you keep them but the holy grail is ones you can return for full refund and also get reimbursed for. Free money.

AnotherOne4 · 03/03/2021 21:05

allDancingdolphins - so you purchase items (out of your own pocket), get reimbursed full price. Items are yours to keep. but if you decide to return, I'm guessing returns you pay for yourself?

Catatemyhomework · 03/03/2021 21:07

@MoreMoneyPlease, thanks. I hope they come back. I was asked to do it and then provided my phone number, etc and then didn't hear anything else. Was really looking forward to it too.
In other news, B@ne was a bit of a let down tonight Hmm

Gatekeeper · 03/03/2021 21:09

I got...
Cat food
Dog food
Cat grooming tool
Long cardi
Light projector
Skipped 3 due to 1 being over the price limit and other two were food deliveries

Dancingdolphins · 03/03/2021 21:09

@AnotherOne4 exactly. Returns are based on the shop policy. So recently I had a pandora one, could buy anything and pandora do free returns so I bought the most expensive thing I could and sent it back. So got the £100 back from the project and £100 back from pandora too.

Dancingdolphins · 03/03/2021 21:10

@Gatekeeper if you don't have a cat that sounds like a bust!

AnotherOne4 · 03/03/2021 21:11

Dancingdolphins - thanks for the explanation Smile Makes sense now, I can see why you all get excited!

Dancingdolphins · 03/03/2021 21:15

@AnotherOne4 it's fab to be fair. Some months are shit but there is usually one thing that makes it worth it.

TheLolaMontez · 03/03/2021 21:16

My Am's this month:

A skip - was an electric "car" scooter thing but the checkout button was missing (thank god) 🤣
Two lots of takeaway website skips
Dog food (I have dogs, so all good)
A coat - not sure if I will like or not
A cheap Chinese jewellery bracelet thing that looks like something you'd get out of a cracker
Make up (good brand)
A wicker laundry basket and
A vinyl record.

All in all not terrible but all fairly useless and none that will be ok for a return I don't think.

Buster27 · 03/03/2021 21:20

Just done my purchases, pretty happy with this round! I did cock up and upload the wrong screenshot for one product (I reuploaded the product before, doh) so I've had to send a ticket, hoping it doesn't count against you if you're a numpty occasionally Grin

This round I got:

  • Purse (nice but don't think it'll be my style so likely gift it)
  • Mens Hoodie (exchanging as they have other stuff my husband really likes)
  • Expensive wallpaper (hideous, but good value for returning)
  • Shoes (also hideous, but free returns is a win)
  • Cushion (don't think it will be for me so a likely return)
  • A random quote plaque (not for me but only cost a couple of quid so no point returning)
  • Set of resistance bands (will use so keeping)
  • Boys swimwear (no use for it so returning)

So £180 of returns (less shipping costs for three of them), a purse my mum will probably get, some piece of clothing for my husband and resistance bands for me. Oh and the plaque I'll pass on to someone!

whysotriggered · 03/03/2021 21:22

@TheLolaMontez I think we got the same record!

YonderTweek · 03/03/2021 21:22

@AnotherOne4

This Am*r stuff. How does it work? You purchase items, and get to keep them? Why do some of you talk about returns?
Yeah, you get to keep all the weird stuff. Grin Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's rubbish. If you get a good UK seller and a pricey product you can make some money by sending the stuff back. A couple of months ago some of us were buying some jewellery and whiskies etc, and if you can return those you make a few quid there.

I got some kind of a horse grooming tool. I'm defo up for swapsies!

fiddie · 03/03/2021 21:23

I got a couple of decent things this month. Only one skip, a health app doing home testing kits. I was worried they wouldn't reimburse it as no way of checking quality etc. Was subscription based stuff so thank god so I could skip.

My worst was a pair of shoes with purple butterflies on an orange sole.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 03/03/2021 21:24

I've actually taken myself off Appen altogether, I had to email them to do it, I was getting sick of it all, too fragmented, too many different projects and procedures. I only made £57 on Crisp last month, lost my mojo a bit, but am going to step it up this month as it's pretty good money.

Is there anything else worth trying that actually pays a wage per hour?

I can't be bothered with all these bitty little surveys that pay peanuts, too time consuming for the return.

I have done MB and Casino but was finding it harder and harder as I kept getting gubbed and I had been through all the welcome offers.

Good luck everyone at least March is a longer month so more days to make ££

AdamantEve · 03/03/2021 21:27

After a hugely dismal Amur round last month, I don’t hate what I got this time...
2x skips for website errors
1x skip over price limit
1x men’s t shirt from the US
1x set of sprinkles (like cake toppers) random but can use
1x weird metal circle to put fairy lights round
1x lovely hoody that I am hoping to keep if it fits
1x very expensive kids towel I hope to return!

AnotherOne4 · 03/03/2021 21:36

I've just applied for Am*r (for next month hopefully) It all sounds fun and something to look forward too!

Redcrayons · 03/03/2021 21:36

No Amur for me, bit disappointed as I spent ages doing the training and making notes.

bettyshotspot · 03/03/2021 21:50

My Amur was crap this month but didn't have to spend much, luckily my friend is young and can take the cast offs that I think are horrendous! :-)

Spandang · 03/03/2021 21:53

Hello everyone. Can anyone help me I’m a bit new to Appen. Been doing Pllck for a few weeks which I’ve just got used to. Had mid week email basically telling me to do more. No more batches. Do they load more on or is that the end of it?

I’d just got the hang of it Grin.

lannister · 03/03/2021 21:54

1st time back on B**e this evening after what felt like a century. Found myself racing with the timer, I used to do it on a desktop & mouse & found laptop touchpad slows me down. Does anyone remember how to make the links all open at once?
