@curdsandwhey yep, it's not good. I'm holding onto the dollars and hoping things improve but unsure if this is a mistake or not. I will give it to the end of Summer and then make a decision. Fingers crossed.

Azerothi · 20/08/2020 16:46

@chloeelopaestateagents

Considering you're advertising an, I suppose, profession job your spelling and grammar are really bad. You definitely should have spell checked as it gives such a bad impression.

Carrotgirl87 · 20/08/2020 17:43

@peelpeelthebanana i wasn't even sure I was doing this transcript thing right, using the non speech tag for the beeps but once id started i thought I may as well be consistent and do it every time. Then they're either all right or all wrong Grin @Horehound if i looked id probably have a few missing payments to be honest, iv started and not done a lot of about 20 different jobs, I tend to only stick to the transcript or English speaking validation ones, never do the outgoing calls at all and I am pretty sure there's a fair few I haven't been paid for yet

Just had a little chuckle at a prolific invite I had for a mental maths study lasting 14 minutes for ..... drumroll...... 30p!

JacksCreation · 20/08/2020 20:34

Sorry to be clueless, but I work part time (although furloughed at the moment.)

I am under the tax threshold and looking to try and make up the 20% slack my monthly salary is missing. So I would still be under the tax threshold- but have you guys had to register as self employed for this? I want to do things properly but find it so confusing.

I did some ebay selling on my first maternity leave years ago and used to do a tax return for that paltry amount and I found it such a pain that it completely put me off for the amount I was making.

I did that one. It said the top performers would get a bonus.
tootyfruitypickle · 21/08/2020 07:19

@curdsandwhey fingers crossed for you! I still can’t believe the audacity of the researcher!

peelpeelthebanana · 21/08/2020 09:15

@Horehound I didn't do that call job - I'll only speak to robots, not humans. I'm wondering with the jobs with quality issues yet being paid for all but one of the tasks whether it's because it was a small amount of money and perhaps cheaper to pay you for all that check through all the tasks?

@Carrotgirl87, I'm actually having a back and forth email conversation about various things on the transcription job because I like the job and it works out a pretty good rate of pay for me and I don't want to get chucked off. The pips/beeps are definitely transcribed as non speech.

whysotriggered · 21/08/2020 11:58

@JacksCreation If you make under £1000 for the year doing this stuff then no you don't need to fill out a self-assessment form but if you do earn over £1000 then yes you will have to register.

JacksCreation · 21/08/2020 14:18

Thanks @whysotriggered Smile

I know I’m late to the game but can I ask about those free trades that keep popping up? I tried to sign up to it and got a bit scared off by all the signing up stuff (I’m v cautious at heart)
I do actually want to find a platform where I can buy some shares every now and then. I don’t want to invest loads but maybe £30 a month.
Can someone tell me roughly what it’s about?
Or any other tips would be helpful too. Smile

lilmishap · 21/08/2020 15:28

Use the link to sign up you have to deposit a quid I think then we both get a share. My first was forty quid so it's worth dipping a toe even if you have no intention of sticking with it.
The app is idiot proof.

NachoNachoMan · 21/08/2020 19:35

Hello! Decided to join the thread as already doing some if these and would like to find some more/better websites.
Made about £30 from prolific in about 6 weeks, and about £15 from panel base in the same length of time. Signed up to Neevo, both training things passed so waiting for opportunity with that. Also signed up to utest... but oh my goodness, how much training?! Those of you who use utest, is it worth persevering with the mini tests so I can do utest tests? Ta Smile

MrsWombat · 22/08/2020 07:19

@NachoNachoMan I think it's worth persevering with uTest but it can be very frustrating at times and there doesn't seem to be much work going on at the moment. A combination of no work from clients and lots more testers signed up due to being at home due to covid-19. There have been many times when I've signed up for a £5 test case that's meant to take 15 mins but it ends up as 1 hour. (Which is fine when you're starting out because you're getting paid to learn even if it isn't minimum wage) Or you can't get their proxy to work and you have to unclaim the test case.

When I started with them I went straight onto a big project that needed lots of UK people so I learned things on the go. I've still not done the mobile testing academy cycle. (I'll do that when the kids are back at school) Doing academy cycles and finding bugs will bump your rating up so you'll get invited to more stuff which is good.

I've earned around £500 from them this year and I'm not very good at finding bugs unless it's something that deviates from a test cast. It's definitely possible to earn much more. Someone I follow on instagram earned £1000 in a month from onsite testing.

MrsWombat · 22/08/2020 07:45

P.S. The majority of my £500 uTest earnings this year was between January and March. I stopped for a few months when the kids stopped school and I've only just started back up again, and it's very slow.

GachaBread · 22/08/2020 09:30

@NachoNachoMan hi now when I think of utest their is one person that springs to mind @Lougle she has not been on these threads for a while but I remember watching her start out and grow and grow with it, towards the end she was making real good money, so if you can try and search some of her posts out on it you will find some interesting information.
Funnily enough I spotted her on a really interesting thread yesterday so I know she is active just not here. 😢

Their were quite a few others too doing it but I can't remember their @'s but if you have time and patience go through last years £10 a day threads or type utest in the search and go through it that way as many here gave so much information away regarding it, it could be quite useful.

I remember looking at utest emails and it blowing my head apart with all the terms and jargon. I never did have the patience for anything like that.

GachaBread · 22/08/2020 09:37

Also just to let anyone aware BeMyEye have technical problems going on with payments so hang fire if you are trying to withdraw to Paypal it might take a little time. Been taking a week for me to withdraw but I have been told this should be resolved soon.

GachaBread · 22/08/2020 09:58

While I am here I might aswell but you guys surely must have noticed how exploitive these side earners are becoming lately...
BeMyEye, Roamler, Street bees their jobs/tasks are paying pittance compared to pre corona times.

Noticed others too but just mentioning the ones I am on.

Seems everyone is taking full advantage of the crisis at the expense of us mere mortals.

Hope this changes as at this rate I will be looking at finding a normal job but then that is is I can even get one lol 😂

Hang in their ladies!

Lougle · 22/08/2020 10:46

Hi @GachaBread Smile I've given up trying to earn money since the children were all sent home. From September I've got to drive DD1 to school each day as transport are struggling, so that's 2 hours per day of driving on top of everything else.

Interestingly, on the UTest front, I was silver when I stopped and despite refusing every offer of projects since I was last paid in April, I have only just dropped down to bronze rating and I still get offers of projects daily. It makes me laugh a bit when I look back on the times when I thought that having a break of one day would be curtains for my UTest earnings.

I hope you're all well Smile

YetAnotherRainyDay · 22/08/2020 11:14

UHRS has become appalling. They've cut the amount paid on some hitapps. The worst one though is the spam task where they expect you to spend 20 secs on each one (pretty sure they'll kick you off too if you go faster) Once you add in loading time, you'd be lucky to scrape £2 an hour.

GachaBread · 22/08/2020 11:14

@Lougle oh no way you were doing so well! When all my kids go back they all on staggered starts and finish times so I'll be spending a hour and half each way just doing drop offs and collections so I feel your pain. Hope one day you can get back in to it or can find something to work around those hours and your other commitments. Really nice to hear from you. Take care my lovely!

margaritasbythesea · 22/08/2020 11:23

I have bern wondering how you are Lougle. Nice to hear from you. Hang on in there.Smile

Carrotgirl87 · 22/08/2020 12:14

@peelpeelthebanana i was about 6/7 off 1500 and now no tasks available.. so theyre either complete or iv just been kicked off Grin

Catatemyhomework · 22/08/2020 12:53

@Lougle, lovely to hear from you. I too have given up on UTest for the time being. Not done much since April. Mainly due to kids at home and other stuff. I am hoping to pick things back up again when kids go back in September but not holding out too much hope as a couple of mine are only in for one day a week! Then I suspect there will be another pre-Christmas lockdown! Hmm I have remained at bronze for some reason. Was convinced I would lose my rating! Grin
