Thank you @BSintolerant
I really need to be more tech savvy!

9dartfinish2nd · 22/07/2020 12:35

Judging by the responses on that thread it's clearly becoming more obvious that once someone is swept up into the world of MLM there is not much you can do but wait for them to come to their senses.

Suppose it's encouraging that people are now educated enough to know this now, as a few years ago people wouldn't have had a clue how to begin to deal with this.

fromdownwest · 22/07/2020 13:31

Does anyone else find it a little bit depressing that these women are being kept in the sham with recognition in the form of a certificate and pin badge.

The gushing posts about recognition, literally in the form of cheap pin badge and certificate proclaiming a manager status.

This is your 'own' business, so how can someone else promote you? Do any of them ever take a step back to think this?

It really is super depressing seeing the boost that has happened over the lockdown.

YouokHun · 22/07/2020 14:19

@fromdownwest yes I agree, v depressing to think people already in a perilous position are thinking they’ve been offered a glamorous lifeline where the sky’s the limit if you want it enough. A lot of recruits come from jobs where there’s no real hope of bettering one’s income or recognition. Awards and titles feel like support and recognition; all part of selling hope - I can see why people fall for it. It’s a shame there is a new crop of vulnerable people who know nothing about MLM but I still think MLM is in decline and this is a temporary bubble. It’s just a shame that people are going to get harmed by it when it goes wrong for them.

Where I live there are now masses of Avon and BS huns all trying to sell to each other and recruit in a tiny pool of willing participants. I think there will be a lot of new joiners to the anti MLM cause come the Autumn.

Yawn wants to buy a boat.
She would be better off putting that money towards her huge directors loan.

DownThePan · 22/07/2020 19:13

Yawn’s mental clarity gained during her C9 has worn off. She’s back to all her old food and drink habits. How soon she forgets!

BSintolerant · 22/07/2020 19:27

Yawn wants to buy a boat. She would be better off putting that money towards her huge directors loan.

She’ll sink, one way or another. Wankers away!

Norma27 · 22/07/2020 19:48

Lol at wankers away!
She really is a complete tool.

CompleteBarstool · 22/07/2020 19:56

Yawn's laying it on a bit thick with the old attraction marketing isn't she.

  • oooh look at my over accessorised garden, what else can I buy for it
  • oooh look at us going out for lunch at a posh hotel
  • oooh we're going to buy a boat just because I've had a passing fancy for one

Wonder what else she'll be bullshitting about during her "staycation" to showcase her lifestyle

Ladiva1971 · 22/07/2020 20:30

No more hob dancing for castle, seeing as she is expecting baby number two!

JasperRising · 22/07/2020 20:57

The problem with boats is that as well as the initial cost, the ongoing maintenance, fuel etc is you also have to pay marina fees etc. And if you want to take it somewhere else at all you have to pay visitors berth fees there too (in most cases). It is not a cheap purchase - and English rivers are not normally as glamorous as it looks on the Mediterranean! (Monaco it is not...)

YouokHun · 22/07/2020 21:30

Yawn is what Captain Pugwash would look like if he’d dealt with his moustache and spent a bit more time on his eyebrows so I feel some sort of Maritime adventure is entirely appropriate for Yawn. She can follow her downlines where she’s already sent them; down Shit Creek, no need for a paddle.

Make sure it’s a good long trip Yawn, channel your inner a Captain Cook and set sail for years - Captain Cook-the-Books on the Good Ship Eeeek. Don’t rush home, try not to get too lost without your (moral) compass, hope you can stay afloat (Companies House says probably not).

Wankers Away!!

BSintolerant · 22/07/2020 21:39

The thought of Yawn on a boat! 😂 Is she channelling her inner Hyacinth Bucket?

Have you ever read “Wilt” by Tom Sharpe? I think it’s hilarious. Great book if you like the 70s. Part of it describes what happens when Henry Wilt’s wife (Eva, who Wilt hates) ends up in a compromising situation in the Norfolk Broads on a boat with an American couple, one of whom claims to be a sex therapist (turns out she’s really a former sex worker who is in a marriage of convenience with a plastic fetishist). There’s also a farcical series of events involving an inflatable doll which leads to Wilt being arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife. The police are made to look ridiculous.

If I were a film director looking for people to cast using MLM bots, Yawn would be Eva Wilt, Weird Willy and Homeschool would be the American couple who aren’t all they appear to be, and the inflatable doll would play BBL. Who could possibly take the parts of incompetent police officers? Grin

BSintolerant · 22/07/2020 21:40

@YouokHun Grin yes! Captain Pugwash! 😂😂

BovvyDazz · 22/07/2020 22:11

Good luck to castle- I hope the pregnancy goes smoothly, the family need some good news (MLM business aside)

Getting a boat is definitely a very expensive money pit; the costs will definitely outlast the passing upsurge in interest in FL. I’m guessing the interest won’t last long enough to purchase one though.

JaniceBattersby · 23/07/2020 00:25

That’s lovely news about Castle. She’s had a very rough ride if it in the past. I wish her lots of luck.

Norma27 · 23/07/2020 07:47

I do wish castle well in her pregnancy. I noticed she said she was ashamed that she had miscarriages in the past. There is nothing to be ashamed of. I had one loss at 17 weeks a few years ago. I suppose I never hid my loss as everyone knew about it. I get big very quickly probably as I am so short. Once you talk to people, you realise how many people have suffered but keep it hidden.
Now, conning people into joining a pyramid scheme is something to be ashamed about, but not miscarriage.

9dartfinish2nd · 23/07/2020 16:49

Seems the DSA is on a major charm offensive, they has slots on BBC Radio Leicester and BBC Radio Merseyside today pushing the agenda that MLM's are a legitimate way to go during these difficult times to earn extra money.

JasperRising · 23/07/2020 16:54

Rather disappointing of the BBC especially alongside that article the other day. Also disappointing of I think the Guardian and Glamour (?) but I can forgive them because press release based 'articles' are common these days. The BBC, however, should now better since they have carried anti-MLM content Hmm clearly the different parts of the organisation don't talk (suppose that shouldn't really surprise me)

Of the bits I’ve heard of the Leicester interview it was very unchallenging. The interviewer just a nodding dog. I’m intending to listen again but one thing the Direct Scamming Assoc Overlord did say was that direct selling is a self regulating industry full of fine upstanding citizens. After that I got too irritated and had to go and do something else. She is very much selling it as a harmless side-hussle (sic) and avoids mention of certain members like FLP and Arbonne who are not homespun or so easy to pass off as a cosy bit of selling among friends.

Tinkcat2 · 23/07/2020 17:45

Has anyone heard of go beyond gold? Thanks

BSintolerant · 23/07/2020 19:09

What do you know about Go Beyond Gold @Tinkcat2 ? I’ve never come across it. Is it something along these lines:

thenextweb.com/hardfork/2019/11/14/gold-backed-cryptocurrency-firm-ordered-to-cease-operations-amid-pyramid-scheme-claims/

Tinkcat2 · 23/07/2020 19:52
