Extra tax credits due to corona

user246854 · 06/04/2020 11:20

Due to corona tax credits are due to increase. As were now in new tax year I was expecting payment to start but my online statement is still showing the same payments as it did a few weeks ago. Does anyone know when the increase is due to start?

I was just going to ask the same question. I logged in to tax credits this morning and it is just the same.

ToTheVetsWeGo · 06/04/2020 12:12

I had a quick look on line and it says it will be updated automatically on 6th April

Lougle · 06/04/2020 12:23

It's working tax credits that are due to increase. If you earn too much to get working tax credits, you won't see any increase. If you earned too much before the increase, then you might see a small amount of increase after the uplift.

user246854 · 06/04/2020 12:29

They haven't updated at all still showing exactly the same as it did two weeks ago

I get working tax credits, lone parent and work 24 hours a week in school so not high earner

@Lougle

Do you know what the cut off amount is for working tax credit to get the increase?
Thanks

Lougle · 06/04/2020 12:38

No, it will depend on your circumstances.

I work similar hours to your op in a school and I have logged in this morning not updated, I will keep checking x

Chasingsquirrels · 07/04/2020 12:53

I've just checked mine off the back of this thread, and mine are showing updated amounts from 2019/20 with a "one-off" payment (rounded to split the rest over the remainder of the year) showing on 15 April, then regular payments for 13 May and 10 June.

Chasingsquirrels · 07/04/2020 12:55

Actually I've missed the point of your thread sorry, I haven't worked out if they have increased due the the announcement 're coronavirus increase.

BighairBabybiceps · 08/04/2020 12:34

Ah that’s good to know User thank you 🙏

RoxanneRoxannee · 08/04/2020 15:11

Does anyone know, will it be a lump one off payment or spread a across the year

LimescaleCowboy · 08/04/2020 15:15

Thank you, @user246854 that's helpful to know about the dates.

user246854 · 08/04/2020 17:07

RoxanneRoxannee from what I understand it will be a weekly/monthly payment (however your benefit is paid to you) depending on circumstances for tax credits around extra £20 a week and on universal about £83 a month

Thank you @user246854
I'll keep checking on line for an update x

Devlesko · 08/04/2020 18:30

I was going to ask too, couldn't find anything about it last time I looked. I believed it was £20 per week if you receive WTC, but is this dependant on earnings, or just for all?

RoxanneRoxannee · 08/04/2020 18:48

@Devlesko I think it depends on how much you earn, so will be a different amount for everyone

user246854 · 08/04/2020 19:07

I believe it will go on earnings and also will be lower if your affected by the benefit cap

Mines been updated today. I am down as I set my childcare to zero for the time being but noticed I am not down as much as I thought as wtc have gone up by about £80 and I get mine every 4 weeks. When I say down I'm obviously not as I am no longer paying childcare but you get what I mean!

There is a random extra payment for April ( so 2) which scares me as I don't want to be over paid!!

SweatyBettyy · 09/04/2020 21:44

Mine hasn't been updated yet. I keep checking as I'm expecting an increase.

user246854 · 09/04/2020 22:48

Mine hasn't been updated yet either, guessing they started today and working through it.... maybe it's alphabetical order in which case I'm a S Grin

OP posts:
SweatyBettyy · 10/04/2020 08:10

If it's alphabetical order I'll be right near the end Sad

ivegotthisyeah · 10/04/2020 08:13

I'm W so it can't be that!

user246854 · 10/04/2020 10:02

Ahh now idea then, checked again today and still no change, being bank holiday I'm presuming it won't change now until next week as guess they are closed

OP posts:
ivegotthisyeah · 10/04/2020 10:41

@user246854 mines gone in today and wasn't due until Tuesday x
