Extra tax credits due to corona

user246854 · 06/04/2020 11:20

Due to corona tax credits are due to increase. As were now in new tax year I was expecting payment to start but my online statement is still showing the same payments as it did a few weeks ago. Does anyone know when the increase is due to start?

Goady not goads.

perniciousdot · 14/04/2020 19:36

I was not having a go, I was merely asking.

The first part maybe, but your next post? Totally having a go.

Merely asking doesn't go like 'what about' and 'surely' and 'seems a bit odd'. And you know it.

LucyLeak · 14/04/2020 19:54

I've been wondering exactly the same ostanovka - although not entirely sure if I'll still be charged as not had any information from my childcare provider.

Notashandyta · 14/04/2020 20:03

Thanks for thread. Weve been wondering too

lemonjumper · 15/04/2020 11:21

Well, my tax credits have vanished today - app says 'no payments due'.

I'm hoping this means they are updating something and it doesn't mean that they've randomly cancelled my claim. Confused

SpideyMom · 15/04/2020 11:32

That usually means its updating if you havent made any major changes.
I've actually just checked mine to see if anything has changed. It hasnt. Its coming though. I have a battle every year due to how my pension is paid. So any day now I am expecting my tax credits to drop as it's the renewal period, and I will have to do all the sending of proof in again which for some reason takes 5 months to finalise

lemonjumper · 15/04/2020 11:39

Such a crap system, SpideyMom.

I hope you're right about mine being updated and not cancelled. I did notice the other week that the wrong phone number was listed for my DH, so I corrected it on the website thinking it'd be updated instantly. But the message came up that it'd be updated in 4-6 weeks (or something like that) and I just thought What have I done???

Really, really hope that updating the phone number hasn't triggered a switch to universal credit at the worst possible time.

SpideyMom · 15/04/2020 11:57

Oh @lemonjumper. I really cant imagine a contact number update will trigger a switch. Though I totally get why a switch is worrying.

When my renewal finally got finalized last year my account did the same thing as yours saying nothing more was due. If I remember correctly everything was updated within a few hours

Shotofvodka · 15/04/2020 12:00

I’ve just checked mine and no change for future payments. I’ve been furloughed on 90%, do I need to wait until I get a payslip to inform tax credits or can I/do I need to do it now?

lemonjumper · 15/04/2020 15:50

Thanks @SpideyMom for the reassurance. Fingers crossed it updates soon!

@Shotofvodka If you have confirmation of your new 90% pay amount, then I'd probably let them know sooner rather than later.

lemonjumper · 15/04/2020 15:51

I've just checked and my payment schedule is back (and the amount has increased)! Phew!

user246854 · 15/04/2020 16:29

Still no changes to mine, I'm expecting around a £50 a week increase as from next week my hours have gone up to 30

OP posts:
LetMeOut · 15/04/2020 16:38

No change to mine, I'm expecting about £80 every four weeks extra. I'm wondering if it is because I get mine every 4 weeks and not weekly

SpideyMom · 15/04/2020 16:52

Oh gosh I've just worked mine out. It should be an extra £100 a month, which would really be helpful right now.
They havent increased the thresholds in years which I feel is unfair as cost of living increased year or year and our income becomes overstretched. But am I right in understanding though that it is only increased for this year, so next year it will go back to what it was therefore everyone will be losing the additional tax credits? If so I best not get used to is as it's only temporary

Bubbletrouble43 · 24/04/2020 22:36

Hi I've found this thread doing a panicky search as our tax credits haven't been paid for 2 weeks and I have no idea why. Can't get an answer from hmrc and no info on my account page at all. Anyone else in same boat?

@Bubbletrouble43 the same thing happened to me, you can renew online now automatically if you log in to gateway, I did that and it seemed to sort it out. Don't have the foggiest how it all works I'll admit!

GlummyMcGlummerson · 25/04/2020 03:01

@HailieJade22 why are you putting random links in all your posts?

Bubbletrouble43 · 25/04/2020 07:22

Thanks but there is no option to renew. Or view my tax credits. It simply says I need to wait for my pack to arrive and if later than 26 June call them. 2 months? Why stop payment now? I don't understand. Circumstances haven't changed at all, annoying thing is I don't even want or need the increase. Help!

danni0509 · 29/04/2020 07:55

Mine have gone up £18 a week. We don't usually receive Working tax as Dh wage and my carers allowance bring us just over the limit.

£18 a week is a lot of money to us, does it sound like it's right?

Don't want to include it in weekly budget if they will take it again!

Thanks

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/05/2020 06:53

Mine have been updated to show the increase starting next Monday. They've got up by £15 a week and I had an extra one off payment on Wednesday.

HoolaCoola · 01/05/2020 11:11

Mine have gone up by £30 per week. And because I have more income my housing benefit has been adjusted and I now have to pay £32.00 a week more rent. Fantastic!!

Windyatthebeach · 01/05/2020 11:15

I got an increase and as above HB took it off me! Can't understand if the government have decided you areballowed £20 more a council can say you aren't!!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/05/2020 11:42

Windy housing benefit should have increased to allow for this at the start of April, I had a letter about it.

Windyatthebeach · 01/05/2020 11:59

I did but 4th letter( this month) taking it down again...
