@rhij86
Thank you.

And.. Your last bit of the post is funny Grin

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 14:20

@frenchdoors1 I probably shouldn't joke about such a serious situation, but sometimes I think if you don't laugh, you'll cry! Blush

@flube Grin Halo

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 14:31

@rhij86 Grin

True.

Catatemyhomework · 10/03/2020 14:45

Ahh still no work from B*. Been waiting around all day for this. I've had the email about the geolocation issue but I've not even been able to do any work to find out what the issue is about yet. I think they've forgotten me! Sad

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 14:49

@catatemyhomework from the messages being put on the chat on appen, and also the fact that the B*ne page says 'task 2 starting soon' for UK as opposed to tasks available - I don't think they've forgotten you.

I think there are a few UK raters who, by some sort of glitch (??) have access to the link, but the vast majority haven't yet.

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 14:50

@Catatemyhomework

You certainly haven't been forgotten, there's loads still haven't got it yet.Smile

Catatemyhomework · 10/03/2020 15:13

Thanks @rhij86 and @Frenchdoors1, I think I was just so happy to actually start an Appen project and finally do some work on one, and now I'm worried part 2 won't happen. I will try and cast myself into a positive and optimistic place! Grin

anxiouswaiting · 10/03/2020 15:13

@Flube I'm on the M2 project but I've had no form to fill out and if I click on the project title it just takes me to figure 8 ?

Wolfff · 10/03/2020 15:17

Has anyone been a tester for Testing Time? I have an appointment to do a test tomorrow but I am worried they picked me accidentally as I just have average IT literacy!

Flube · 10/03/2020 15:18

@anxiouswaiting Yes that's right, but on my figure 8 page it had a task listed. I clicked it and it was a short form asking for make and model of phone. Now I've done that, it's just taking me to back to figure 8 but nothing showing.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 10/03/2020 15:52

@Flube, me too re M2!

Also, no Bane link for me either :-(

DarkPassenger · 10/03/2020 16:38

@toastytea

If I am reading my uTest data correctly..

I've done one cycle on the first project with two test cases, they are already approved and will be paid next week.

and

three cycles within the same project (a different one to my first) but with seven test cases. With this one I was selected as a favourite tester smug Grin in my first week/test case which has earned me a 5% bonus on subsequent cases within the same project. If I remember correctly from the email I received the client can elect different favourites throught the project so I could lose it to someone else but at the moment I still have it Grin

I've had one case approved in this project so payment also next week, and the remaining six cases are pending approval.

I hope that all makes sense.

DarkPassenger · 10/03/2020 16:42

Thank you to everyone for your very kind words and encouragement after my post last night. Flowers

I still have 14 part days/39 hours to work for said nasty piece of work until the end of the month as I just didn't have it in me to walk away (self-employed but I take my responsibilities seriously and couldn't leave her in the lurch) but adjusting the countdown reminder on my phone as I complete each 'shift' is giving me great satisfaction.

DarkPassenger · 10/03/2020 16:47

And now I've completed my current uTest cycle/case I'm jumping on the 'What's going on with B*?' wagon.

I'm very nervous as I can't see any preview/practice 'this is what you will be doing' anywhere so worried about effing up on my first chance. Not asking for help as I know these things can't be discussed, just hoping it's explained clearly.

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to work out the segmenting task on Neevo yesterday and by the time I had my eureka moment all the tasks had gone! Still thankful to have had the chance though as next time that crops up I'll be like a whippet out 'a trap Grin

Flube · 10/03/2020 16:48

@SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock Reassuring to know it's not just me!

Still no B* part 2 link either.

Impatient, me? Gin

DarkPassenger · 10/03/2020 16:54

@TheLolaMontez - I hope you are having a peaceful first full day with your little one and that you are feeling as well as you can be after yesterday.

I thought it was amazing that your post at something like 7.45am going into the labour ward was followed 14 hours later by at home here's a photo to melt your hearts (and mine is usually reserved for 4 legs and tails so for me to feel squishy is saying something!). Women are flippin' amazing!

DarkPassenger · 10/03/2020 17:06

Oh, @toastytea timings..

My first project again seemed to take an embarrassing amount of time, maybe 4.5 hours Blush across the two test cases. With my gained experience now I'd probably take about 1.5hrs. But I'm trying to look at it as being paid for training so even though it was stressful and exhausting I was still on about £4.50 per hour.

I've counted up my reported times on the second project and that says just over seven hours, in reality probably more like 10. But I'm learning to streamline my screenshots (in fact today I've moved to a screen video capture tool and I'm taking SS from that), refining my note taking process, time stamping my handwritten notes/comments so I can go straight to that point in the video if I want to double check anything. Again just treating it all as a massive learning curve and I'm earning while training. Currently works out at £7 ish an hour, no travel time/costs, copious tea, biscuits and too many fag breaks Blush. But it will all be worth it.

Which reminds me @GachaBread - it's only menthol and flavoured rolling tobacco that is being banned not all types. They did ban the smaller packets of standard rolling tobacco.. last year? maybe 2018? so the smallest you can buy now is 30g, but I think they'd have riots on their hands if they banned it totally. And I'm not a heavy smoker usually, 30g a week. I actually gave up for six weeks from January but the stress of nasty person sent me to the 24hr garage in the wee small hours so I'm back on for now. I'll try again once I'm out of there.

GachaBread · 10/03/2020 17:11

@DarkPassenger whoops my mistake, must have misunderstood. Thanks for the correction!

DarkPassenger · 10/03/2020 17:18

Easy mistake to make @Gachabread, I panicked like Billy-Ho when I first misheard about the ban back whenever it was.

Although your idea is a sound one as there is a big market for flavoured tobaccos and I have fond (ish) memories of being persuaded to try different ones during my partying twenties. There's a little specialist (or was, maybe already long gone) tobacco shop in Blackpool that I used to walk past one my way to and from work and they ahd an amazing range of flavoured tobaccos. That target market has to go somewhere.

BertieBotts · 10/03/2020 17:34

I've done so much utest today 🥵 I'm so tired and starving hungry! One of my bugs has already been approved so I'm pleased with that, fingers crossed for the rest as I've been really really thorough!

Loopyteddy · 10/03/2020 17:39

I've been sat waiting for B* stage 2 as well today. The page on Appen has been updated to say that the GB part 2 tasks are now available. I still haven't had an email though, has anyone else yet?

Flube · 10/03/2020 18:01

@Loopyteddy Not yet, still waiting. 🙇‍♀️
