Cloud workers/chat from home

Essentially paid to flirt/sexy chat, I can't claim to be too knowledgable about these two!

Fivver/upwork/guru

Paid 'to do' sites. You can offer normal services on the latter two, or do odd things like sell a video of you clipping your toenails on Fivver.

I'm another with updated B* guidelines, no email with actual link to tasks yet.

Catatemyhomework · 10/03/2020 10:36

@ZetaPuppis, is that for LB? I've been asked to do that for Map Analyst exam. Not done it yet. Not sure if I will now. It all seems like a lot of work.

margaritasbythesea · 10/03/2020 10:44

Is anyone still working for Lionbridge? They contacted me to say I have been put on the waiting list for a project that sounds very like one on Apn starting with N**. I have set up the 'work place' site they want. I am wondering if it is really now just a question of them waiting to email me or will I actually have to keep checking back to 'work place.'

My Lovely Appen project has come to an end. I have ignored B**e as I have been on holiday and I assume you can't do part 2 if you haven't done part 1. Does anyone know if that is true?

I have also just thought that this may be helpful to some. I work from home for two exam boards doing seasonal marking of GCSE and A'level. Lots of teachers and ex-teachers do it, and you do now need to be or have been a teacher to do it, although that wasn't always the case. You just apply through the websites or eteach ususally. The most useful thing I have to say about it is that the International Baccalaureate Organisation pays a far better rate than most. I am not sure if it is too late to apply to them for this year, but I do know that most other boards are desperate for markers. They often send me referral incentives and I'll post if I get one as I think both ends get something out of it. I earn 4-6 thousand a year doing this so, although it is hard work while it's on and the standards are high, it is worth it if you have been a teacher recently.

I'd be happy to answer any questions about it.

ZetaPuppis · 10/03/2020 10:47

@Catatemyhomework yes.
The work sounds good although I’m not liking what people are saying about the pay here. It does seem like a lot of effort if people aren’t making more than £5 an hour.
I’ll give it a go though.

justtheonethen · 10/03/2020 10:56

@margaritasbythesea I would be interested in any referral for marking

margaritasbythesea · 10/03/2020 11:07

Ok. When I get one I will let you know. I generally get them for English exams and related (like functional skills) but Edexcel seem always to be desperate. Their panic time hasn't begun yet though, which is when they send incentives. More than likely there are positions available on their website too.

Catatemyhomework · 10/03/2020 12:00

Still waiting for tasks from B*. Anyone else?

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 12:10

@Catatemyhomework
Same here, still waiting.

How long do we wait though?!
Hmm

Flube · 10/03/2020 12:13

Still waiting here too @Catatemyhomework @Frenchdoors1

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 12:16

Could be waiting hours!

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 12:20

@frenchdoors1 @Catatemyhomework @flube
The B*ne page says UK task 2 links will be sent 'later today'. So weird that I've had the link through :-\ but there are plenty of Brits on the chat that haven't either, so I think I'm in the minority unlike the rest of you if that makes sense.

There seem to be a couple of glitches with it, in a lot of the locations, so maybe they are trying to resolve those before sending more links out?

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 12:23

@rhij86
Ohh, thank you for letting us know all that.
At least things are clearer now Smile (is it easy?) Grin

Catatemyhomework · 10/03/2020 12:27

Thanks for that @rhij86. I feel slightly better knowing I am not alone in the wilderness!

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 12:28

@frenchdoors1 assuming I'm doing it right, yes it's quite easy - almost as easy as part 1! Not entirely certain I'm doing it right though Grin

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 12:33

Ooh good @rhij86
That's good to know.

anxiouswaiting · 10/03/2020 13:59

I got excited about the Appen e-mail thinking it was a link, nope just telling people to stop sending support tickets.

I had the whole day free for work today and there's nothing to do!

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 14:01

@anxiouswaiting annoying!
Also annoying as if there's a problem... have my last 5hours work been wasted? Will I get paid? Do I carry on? I am assuming if they wanted us to stop they would have said so...

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 14:05

@rhij86
Yes, i imagine they expect you to carry on because while they are sending us emails to say be patient etc, then they could have sent you who are doing them an email to say stop.

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 14:08

@frenchdoors1 yes I'm using that reasoning too and just hoping I get paid for the time Hmm

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 14:08

I'm on the chat now @rhij86.
Does the page take ages to load? Have reached 07.08am?

Flube · 10/03/2020 14:09

@rhij86 So nabbing all the LB tasks weren't enough, now you're nabbing all the B* too! Just who are you bribing? Wink

Still no B* link email.

Is anyone on M**tle2? I've only had a form to fill in about what type of phone I have, nothing else yet.

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 14:10

@rhij86
Yes, I would imagine it's right.
Smile

Flube · 10/03/2020 14:11

Well I've just had an email re the issue with the B* geolocation button, still no link though. Confused

Frenchdoors1 · 10/03/2020 14:16

Ahh, I think I know the answer to my last post.
It's not taking ages to load..... It's the time difference Blush

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 14:16

@frenchdoors1 the timings on the chat are PST I think - so 7.08AM would be 14.08 here.

@Flube - now listen here, the accusations of me bribing people with my stash of loo roll and hand sanitiser in exchange for a headstart on all the work are lies, lies I tell you! Grin
