Bot-watching into 2020. Hoping it's a good year for all (and the end of MLMs - Hey, a girl can dream!)

@neurotrash I looked at their questionnaire on the bcorp site. Fascinating stuff! Looks like they have answered based on their head office staff only given they say they have 630 employees. This makes sense as 'independent consultants' are actually customers not staff!

I don't doubt their environmental credentials and ethical product content but it's a bit like boasting about Sainsburys having bcorp certification because you shop there once a week (Disclaimer: I don't know if sainburys do have certification but you get my drift)

nakedavengeragain · 31/01/2020 07:21

Interestingly by only basing it on their head office staff they can get away with the questions about living wages etc. Shame there's were no questions about the bloody awful business model though.

JasperRising · 31/01/2020 08:18

It's like Forever and their Investor in People awards though isn't it - all based of the actual employed staff but the reps boast about it. I do wonder what the actual employees of these companies make of it all

MontanaSkies · 31/01/2020 09:56

@neurotrashwarrior That's interesting about "B corp" status - I'd never heard of it before but it does sound like it's a real thing that non-Mlms are signing up to. Info here on the PWC website: www.pwc.co.uk/industries/retail-consumer/insights/b-corp.html

However naked and jasper are right, it looks like they're basing it on head office staff only and ticking all the right boxes, conveniently sidestepping all the ethical concerns re the business model for reps.

fromdownwest · 31/01/2020 12:39

I wonder if FL and other MLM's are concerned about IR35 and the rulings.

It could have a huge impact upon them, as their bots would be classed as employees?

I imagine the top bots are all up to speed with the IR35 rulings, being the global business coaches that they are.

Main thing is one point of sale, they can only sell the MLM's products, are solely dependent upon their products, have no autonomy in their ability to move their businesses forward, and are paid from the company directly.

Very very interesting

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/01/2020 13:01

The thing is that my friend believes this means it's a wonderful company that she's a part of.

To me it's more brainwashing and basic gaslighting.

She's the type of person who will keep buying stuff for herself, Will flog a few bits here and there, fork out a lot for the training weekends because she gets to get out if the house and go away with her "friends" and there but never go any higher. I honestly think she'll trudge on keeping those above her in pocket.

The way her new "friend" is partially being an actual new friend is really upsetting to see.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/01/2020 13:08

Thank you fo all your advice; I know I just have to wait it out. I don't see her much as she's an old childhood friend, we tend to meet up every few years with a couple of other friends. I can imagine she'll bring her stuff along when we do though.

I did describe to her some (imaginary) friends who had regretted mlm as they'd lost friends and money.

I believe they get taught to respond to these accusations. She claimed arbonne isn't like that but couldn't explain what the difference is.

GoldenKelpie · 31/01/2020 17:01

Neuro, it's hard but you just have to bite your tongue and not engage about the MLM. My cousin (lives about 4 hours away) is peddling Body Shop at Home (she's a full time carer for her dad, an ideal candidate for MLM) and I do not respond to any of her MLM posts. I do message her about other matters though. I hope she gives it up soon...

Gotmychocolateimgood · 31/01/2020 17:23

I bet the window cleaners in Bruv's building are sick of being filmed and photographed by him. Must be about 10 times by now.

Spongebobette · 31/01/2020 18:14

Yawn is claiming to earn a ‘fantastic 6 figure income’

Yeah, course you do

Norma27 · 31/01/2020 18:56

And yawn coaches thousands to success.
Of course you do Mrs billy bullshitter!

Maydayredalert · 31/01/2020 19:39

That post was so braggy. I notice she didn't mention the MASSIVE directors loan though. At least she's cleared up the whole childminding/police conundrum we've often mused about here Grin

Spongebobette · 31/01/2020 19:43

OMG nurse is ‘planning’ her cousin’s ‘business’

This poor young woman is her only downline and presumably unsuccessful and inactive since she did Nurse a favour and signed up
Now Nurse will be applying the same pressure and love bombing that she gets from Yawn

CodenameVillanelle · 31/01/2020 19:44

Sacked is desperately pushing her cheap nasty face cream and diet pills and selling them to other bots to get her 'promotion'

Spongebobette · 31/01/2020 19:46

And she clearly can’t afford to throw money away

Spongebobette · 31/01/2020 19:47

(Nurse’s cousin)

nakedavengeragain · 31/01/2020 19:49

Note that she's doing it in her bloody PJs. Why why why do bots think this is a draw? I can think of anything more unpleasant than one of my team mates in a meeting in their bed clothes.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 31/01/2020 20:09

I can think of anything more unpleasant than one of my team mates in a meeting in their bed clothes ..... unless it's sweaty gym clothes from their body pump class earlier that day

Gotmychocolateimgood · 31/01/2020 21:54

Sleaze says

How come it says on Dettol that it kills Coronavirus...? How did they know...?
#wakethehellup

Words fail me

Spongebobette · 01/02/2020 11:26

Ah I see Yawn has thought up a new way to get engagement on her Insta

'7 facts you may not of known about me '

yes 'of known' (!!!)

Then she invites you to share a 'secret fact about yourself'

TheHorseOnSeventhAvenue · 01/02/2020 11:52

PHD did the ‘facts about me’ recently and Castle did it when rebooting her biz - I think it’s part of basic training.

Spongebobette · 01/02/2020 12:13

There are no new ideas in network marketing

WildImaginings · 01/02/2020 12:41

Family member and their partner are at a Herbalife event in Birmingham today.
'Feeling pumped' apparently Hmm

Spongebobette · 01/02/2020 12:42

All their money is being pumped out of them?

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 01/02/2020 14:19

...being pumped full of shit
