MLMs/ Network Marketing: Thread 45

Spongebobette · 05/12/2018 12:24

This is the 45th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, Monat, Stella and Dot, Tropic, various slimroast/weight loss coffee MLMs and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs.
The reality is that 97% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

Anyone writing a book like that would face a backlash, however the MLM way she was promoted it will give more credibility to the family I think, regardless of who is actually correct.

notsurewhatshappening · 10/12/2018 19:53

Have Wig and Sleaze split up??

notsurewhatshappening · 10/12/2018 20:04

Argh my FL bot has just posted a pic of her midriff claiming accountability starts here... guessing she will be pushing the C9s 😠

ElektraLOL · 10/12/2018 20:04

Thing is, we all know toxic families deny abuse so I wouldn't necessarily assume Roomie made this up even if she is into MLM.

danbarnes · 10/12/2018 20:13

Can anybody point me to Roomie's business page please?

JasperRising · 10/12/2018 20:35

None of us are going to ever know the truth in relation to the book. What we can know is that an established publishing house would have taken steps to avoid potential defamation/libel suits (real or malicious) or be confident they could defend them in court. Which is why it is problematic when people set themselves up as experts (whether as mentors, business coaches, business owners, entrepreneurs, or strategists) on the basis of their own narrow and artificial (in the case of MLM) experience. One success does not give you the knowledge to advise others (and yes I would probably say the same to someone from a non MLM background)...

Whiterangey · 10/12/2018 22:16

Roomie is claiming abuse, my view when someone is claiming abuse is to believe them and I believe Roomie.

It's possible she may have elaborated on some of the details surrounding her situation when the abuse occured to make for a better read. I believe fully that she was abused just because she has said she has been.

I

Paddy1234 · 10/12/2018 23:04

I did actually read the book. She was bought up away from her mother and new siblings so they will indeed have a different story.
Both sides are probably correct - it's not a case anyone lying or fabricating truth. They led different lives.
The funny thing is that she didn't vilify her mother in the book, she explained that she was a free spirit and on many occasions asked Roomie to live with her, which Roomie rejected which she looked back on and wonders why.
I don't think it is for us to pass judgement on either side.

Jasmin82 · 10/12/2018 23:23

They emailed back. A long spiel about how they wanted to ensure my experience had been a positive one, should I close my contract I might not be able to rejoin...
I may have been a little harsh in my reply.

BSintolerant · 11/12/2018 00:25

Good for you Jasmin! How do you feel now you've kneed MLM in the knackers?

Did your reply end in "off!"?

Nakedavenger74 · 11/12/2018 04:17

@notsurewhatshappening it looks like it. On Thursday Wig vaguebooked about not putting effort into people who don't care and after lots of 'u ok hun'ing it became clear that they had indeed split up. Seems it was Sleaze's idea. There's been various posts about 'he has your interests at heart hun' and 'I shouldn't have let him go' etc. Sleaze's cover picture has changed from one of the power couple themselves to one of his son. Wigs power couple pic remains...
She's still banging on abou her Bitcoin ponzi's though.

SSDGM · 11/12/2018 05:11

To quote Broke:
“Ganoderma is deffo the king of herbs and a fact about it is it's the only natural thing that can actually help tackle obesity the only other thing as we know is the gastric band ☕🍄😍 x”

OK Broke! Totally sounds legit.

SSDGM · 11/12/2018 05:14

And Wig can fuck off with her Anti Vax shit. If she’s so bothered about stuff being “natural” she can start with getting rid of that flammable plastic that’s on her head.

ArbunneHun · 11/12/2018 06:17

Her abhorrent anti-vax stand is particularly worrying given that she has followers/victims in Africa. I hope she can cope with potential infant death as well as theft on her conscience.

fitgirl26 · 11/12/2018 07:38

So I'm watching a live from one of the ex Valentus/Lifetree World Bots about their new travel business. When you sigh up for $129 you get given a free holiday worth $1400. It's bonkers apparently. Well yes....

fitgirl26 · 11/12/2018 07:39

sign not sigh!

Orchardgreen · 11/12/2018 09:45

I went to a Christmas fair last night at our local vineyard. I was with Guide Dogs, raising money. The main indoor event area was beautifully decorated, buzzing and cheery.

All the bot huns were shoved in a garishly lit side room. Grin.
All with their Croydon facelifts.

thetemptationofchocolate · 11/12/2018 09:47

I know we are not able to share actual names on MN, even in private messages, but would it be possible to share a link to this book? Or could someone PM the title to me? Or even give me a clue to help me find it on amazon? Surely promoting a book that's freely available would not open MN up to a law suit?

DownThePan · 11/12/2018 10:42

I was annoyed to see Arbonne being pushed as a side hustle on a company Facebook page that offers advice and events for young women relating to financial planning. It's the first time I've seen this particular company link themselves to MLM which has made me feel despondent as I've previously thought the group does great work!

ClosdesMouches · 11/12/2018 10:54

On the subject of Christmas fairs, there was one on Sunday held in the village hall where my friend lives.
Five bots altogether - two were Tropic which is completely saturated in our area. I'm sure when my friend was doing FL she was told that they had to check first to see if anyone else from FL was already booked at the same event. Clearly Tropic doesn't have the same 'guideline' for its sellers.

Jasmin82 · 11/12/2018 11:29

BS No, but I did sign off with "regards".

Sunshineandshowers81 · 11/12/2018 11:40

I couldn't possibly comment on the book in question, however i have heard of a book you may want to read called thriving after surviving

Norma27 · 11/12/2018 12:12

Mrs stickman isn’t mentioned in yawn’s November lists. Looks like she must have got out.
Well done!
