MLMs/ Network Marketing: Thread 45

Spongebobette · 05/12/2018 12:24

This is the 45th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, Monat, Stella and Dot, Tropic, various slimroast/weight loss coffee MLMs and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs.
The reality is that 97% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

It really is a scary proposition. I’m now looking at Welsh Upline’s selling post for a £2 photo frame in horror- if she is using it as a recruitment tactic then she’s clearly targeting a lower income demographic.

Perthsmurf · 05/01/2019 16:40

Great to see these threads still going, it is so important. I used to post some time ago here and have lost a good friend to Forever Lying. That same friend has just posted an underwhelming video of a training course she’s on today. This has involved a car journey of around 7 hours, leaving her children for the entire weekend just before they go back to school after the holidays, booking 2 nights of a hotel and using an obscene amount of “aspirational” (desperate) hashtags in her many updates.

@fromdownwest I agree with Twenty that the bots are too far gone to question the benefit of this weekend. It seems to be a lot of “celebrating success”, but it won’t change the fact that she is trying to build a bizniss in a saturated area. If I wanted a FL product I could approach at least 4 other people via Facebook within this sparsely populated 10 mile radius. I give up, I really do...

NameChangeNine · 05/01/2019 19:47

I post here regularly under many different name changes but originally on these threads as Reformed Bot.

This training weekend, the QLS one, is very expensive and isn't ran by Forever as such but rather the bloodsucker bot and her husband.

This weekend was intoxicating, it breaks you down and builds you back up. You dare to believe in your dreams and rule out any other way to get them. I left this weekend 2 years ago feeling incredible, invincible for at least 5 months and I could slip back into the euphoria by remembering the colour and lighting of the room and the songs played on loop.

Almost hypnotic. Even now when I think back I can't really think of it as a bad weekend or memort, because I felt on top of the world and powerful.

SnoogyWoo · 05/01/2019 19:59

Is bloodsucker bot one of the top ones?

Spongebobette · 05/01/2019 20:13

Yuk I detest her homespun wisdom type posts

She's the worst of the worst. She's moved into recruiting in African countries. Appalling

@namechangenine
Very insightful - please could you provide a rough idea of total costs all in for this weekend?

NameChangeNine · 05/01/2019 20:43

£80, non refundable! Plus for me it was 4 hours of petrol and a hotel room for me and my family as I wanted them close by. No free teas or coffees either and we took packed lunches as lunchtime was so short. The days were both really long but you don't sleep much after day 1 because you're head is swimming. So by day two it's an early start and your in prime brainwash mode!

This is an interesting read, not sure if it's been posted before

£80?!!! - I paid that to see Metallica! lol

In all seriousness that is a £300 weekend - easily

I am self employed - yet have to sit professional qualifications. Some of our providers put on training courses for us, they cover the cost of the course and that includes refreshments and lunch, and training from top class actual trainers for 3 days (circa £1K) I pay for hotel and that is enough for me! I get some fancy letters after my name and actual industry recognition!

Plus not one whoop or holla in sight!

Hunbot · 05/01/2019 22:20

Broke bot is out of Facebook jail. Let the shilling commence. Feel a bit sorry for him though as someone appears to have mashed up his car :(

Whiterangey · 05/01/2019 23:49

Bloodsucker is the absolute worst bot there is, she has no morals whatsoever and has destroyed countless lives.

She has targeted some of the poorest areas in Africa and taken money from people who can barely afford to eat.

I feel sick to my stomach even thinking about her.

Not shocked she is using brainwashing tactics, not at all.

Gigis · 05/01/2019 23:54

Hello, long time lurked. Could anyone tell me if partlight is an mlm? It definitely looks like it is, but the woman I know of who's flogging it hasn't posted any of the "making sooo much money/I'm my own boss/ask me how" type crap. It's mostly just her requests for people to drop by her house to sample the (vastly overpriced) candles and host promotion evenings.

Gigis · 05/01/2019 23:55

Sorry, partylight. Not partlight.

Gigis · 05/01/2019 23:56

Or even partylite. Goddamn it, I'll stop spamming you all now. Sorry!!!

Toobusytowee · 06/01/2019 00:02

People who have been here for a while will remember the car crash that was Lifetree World. They have finally been dissolved you will be glad to know. I’ve had a look at the information on Companies House and made a blog post on it. It’s here if you are interested botwatch.blog/2019/01/05/the-death-of-lifetree-world/

The post before that one was about that ‘news’ article about TBSAH rags to riches woman which was just a load of contradictions and lies.

Toobusytowee · 06/01/2019 00:07

Gigi’s, yes Partylite is an MLM. Reps have to sell $2,300 worth of candles before they are eligible for a bonus cheque (the payment is 7% of sales) They have to pay $14.95 a month to use the IT systems and pay $250 to join. There are monthly sales targets to achieve.

Gigis · 06/01/2019 00:14

Thank you @toobusytowee. There's no way she will ever make any decent money then. She has two little kids to support and is selling in an area that's just no affluent enough to afford those prices regularly. Also, who buys that many candles?! It's odd because she's quite a highly educated woman too, surely she must see that? Before Christmas she asked for a final head count of the number of people who had expressed an interest in a promotion evening at hers so she knew how much food and drink to buy. It made quite sad reading the comments, just person after person making their excuses. I counted 2 people who said they'd go in the end.

Whiterangey · 06/01/2019 00:17

Great article! LTW was so obviously just not going to work. I'm going to guess that Salon ended up in profit.

I can remember the person who 'won' the car and how excited she was.

It never had a chance of working but the top bots hoodwinked those under them to keep buying the crappy food.

Toobusytowee · 06/01/2019 00:18

Hopefully she will not have any early success and she will find it easy to leave. But she is just as likely to keep at it, trying to recoup what she has already spent.

Intelligence is no protection against joining MLMs. Sometimes it can make things worse because intelligent people can convince themselves they are doing the right thing and they trust themselves. All anyone needs is a moment of weakness and a person they trust offering a perfect opportunity and all of a sudden it is all too late.

Toobusytowee · 06/01/2019 00:24

Thanks Whiterangey. I’m guessing Salon earned loads but that she was owed loads as well. She left before the end as she could see it dying. A lot of them went to Saivian which has now also collapsed.
