Thought I would start a new thread as the old one is closed! Hello to everyone old and new trying out Matched Betting!

So I'm £850 up now really happy with that. How is everyone else doing?

Quick question - just wondering what you are all doing to try and prevent being gubbed? I don't have much time during the week to do this so I am a bit concerned that a lot of my reload offers have been the only ones I've done. Particularly interested in making sure I can protect my Bet365 account as I did well on 2up's at the weekend. Thank you!

Hope you all find this! Smile

Hi mara

Smarkets has a lower commission rate than Betfair (2% vs 5%) so if you're on the 0% commission offer with Betfair you may want to switch to Smarkets after that. You will also need to use Smarkets if you want to lay against Paddy Power as they are the same company as Betfair, so you would be on a one way ticket to gubsville if you use Betfair for them.

I track using oddsmonkey profit tracker. I really like oddsmonkey but I've not tried any others so can't compare?

For free bets they suggest sticking between odds of 4-6ish because if you go too high, it will raise the eyebrows of the bookies, and another quick way to get gubbed. I've done the odd 7-8, particularly if it's an in play bet and choice is limited.

Hard to advise on the t&cs. I think you will just get an idea over time of what type of offer it is (e.g. bet x get y). Then refer to guides to see if you can lock in a profit or if it's low risk. Key thing to check with all though is minimum odds and stake values. And also how long offers/free bets are valid for so you use them in time.

Hope this helps!

Following!
I have just completed my first matched bet with profit accumulator. Now to carry on!
I’m finding these threads really helpful and encouraging.

MaraScottie · 20/01/2019 17:52

Thank you Cooper, very helpful.

Do you complete mug bets at all? How often do you need to do it? Not sure I like the idea of getting into 'real' gambling as such!

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 22/01/2019 20:04

Hi all
I’m just starting all this and am a complete novice
Betfred have sent me a text saying I have 10 free spins on cash of kingdoms. Does anyone know what this means? Do I just do this as a sideline to matched betting (given it’s free)?

Coppermine · 22/01/2019 20:21

Most the bookies do casino too, so you will start getting offers and free spins from them.

Always read the t&cs and if they are free spins (no deposit or wagering required) then they are risk free. it's best to have no money at the bookie though as sometimes the terms will either use cash first or not let you withdraw etc until you've used the cash.

Sometime free spins require no wagering and whatever you win is yours. Others may need wagering x times first (e.g you win £5 but have to wager it 20 times first, meaning you've got to keep using the winnings until you've spent £100 or bust out. Often you will bust out.)

Many matched betters make profits from doing low risk casino offers but it's best to have a bigger bank (so you can take the losses) and read all the guides and understand how the expected value calculators work.

Good luck with the free spins!

Thanks very much @coppermine

Can I join? I've just started out but am about £200 up in 10 days so extremely pleased. Would like to move on from the little £3 wins to something bigger but finding it hard to find them. The £30+ wins are great!

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 23/01/2019 11:22

Hi @misstiggywinkle
Well done! Can I ask which site you’re doing MB with I.e profit accumulator?

misstiggiwinkle · 23/01/2019 13:05

@SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 yes with PA. it's been great.

I've also just been sent a free share worth £20 from here. £1 deposit and can sell it after 3 days. - a total no brainier!! Here is my link if anyone else is keen. Literally 5 mins work.

Create a Trading 212 Invest account using this link www.trading212.com/ref/3ih19HC and we both get a free share!

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 31/01/2019 21:49

Hi all
Does it matter If I withdraw all my winnings ftom the bookies or does it look better to keep some in there?

Golden0ldie · 31/01/2019 22:45

Been at this since November but going slowly so still doing welcome offers alongside reloads.

Am trying to get my head round each way bets - I understand how an each way bet works etc but am not clear what the profits are like. Is it best to bet ew on extra place offer races or just to bet and lay if the pricing is right?

Also, casino. Low risk, no risk. Where’s the best place to start for a complete novice? I don’t get many free spin offers but have done a few - joyless.

Thanks

Underworld345 · 27/03/2019 22:06

@SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 I keep money in bookies I use often and withdraw from the ones I only do now and then. I wouldn’t worry too much.

@golden0ldie start with the cash back casino offers. Easy £200-400 and will give youths hang of it risk free.

Then subscribe to odds monkey and do all the offers on there.

Golden0ldie · 28/03/2019 10:28

I’d forgotten about this thread @Underworld345! Thanks for your reply. Have started lr/nr casino and am well through the OM offers ... very quickly discovered when I started, that OM is a necessity rather than a nice to have! Thanks again.

Underworld345 · 15/06/2019 21:45

For those who do casino...

I know guides on oddsmonkey always say use min stakes max lines etc.

But I’ve done this for months now and I’m comfortable doing £1 spins for deposit wagering. I have just started doing this but I understand there is a lot more variance but in my mind mathematically you should make more money in the long run?

As in RTP is a % so over the long run you should make back that % whether it’s 20p or £1 spins.

I’ve had a couple of big wins (one £800) but I’m now finding I’m going though one of those losing streaks and now considering cutting my stakes down again.

For those who do higher value spins, what is your experience? Are you up more overall?
