Spongebobette · 29/09/2018 18:17

This is the 43rd thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

Yes you are right - I remember her saying on one of those videos that she couldn't afford to put food on the table so she joined FL and I was a bit 🤨 since at that time she had I think 4 in private schools.

Electrascoffee · 07/10/2018 22:08

Is Yawn the one who's always on about her big country house? And gym transformation (v pretty?)

CodLiverOil556 · 07/10/2018 22:10

Just checked the Facebook link and whoever it is has bitch in huge letters as her cover picture Grin

Electrascoffee · 07/10/2018 22:21

Ah no I don't think this is her then

Electrascoffee · 07/10/2018 22:22

Oh sorry was that sarcasm? 🤣 is autistic - apologies !

Electrascoffee · 07/10/2018 22:27

Ah yes. Yawn is also someone I know and actually went to school with - these people are everywhere in my home town.

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 07/10/2018 22:36

Urgh a close friend has just signed up for Juice plus, she recently lost a baby, I’m gutted for her. I did warn her and asked her to google the scam but she was sucked in by the curing of rheumatoid arthritis & it being endorsed by Bear Grylls :(

Paddy1234 · 07/10/2018 22:40

@Electrascoffee - I am also in the home town 😏

Whiterangey · 07/10/2018 22:51

@Electrascoffee You are totally right, that is her that you described so you have the right person.

Powerless · 08/10/2018 01:21

I've just started doing Usborne Books. Is that an MLM? :(

SSDGM · 08/10/2018 06:18

Yes, Usborne is an MLM.

SSDGM · 08/10/2018 06:26

Yes, Usborne is an MLM.

Spongebobette · 08/10/2018 07:40

@powerless sorry yes it is

Most people who join Usborne do so because they want to buy books for themselves. Very little money in it because you can buy Usborme books at a discount all over the place

Great interrogation of Nu Skin income claims over on Talented Ladies Club. Love the brutal truth of a thorough MLM earnings analysis!

9dartfinish2nd · 08/10/2018 11:45

Came here to post the same link ArbunneHun, about as damning an article on an MLM company I have ever read. Fantastic in-depth article!
Nu Skin much like FLP UK are in big trouble, the bubble has well and truly burst.

Electrascoffee · 08/10/2018 11:54

NuSkin appears to have their own jumping on a charity bandwagon as I have seen a girl I know (and she is v young) writing a long post asking to please donate to her page to nourish the children. I assume they push this to raise their own equivalent of CCs?

ArbunneHun · 08/10/2018 13:04

Nourish the Children is a Nu Skin developed meal system to be used in disaster zones etc. It comes in sachets. It’s not a charity really, as Nu Skin do (I believe) make a profit on making them. I don’t think the reps do, but they are encouraged to purchase them.

9dartfinish2nd · 08/10/2018 13:57

Took the below piece from the FB group MLM lies exposed which was published towards the end of 2017 -

Reps advertise for people to buy bags of VitaMeal starting from £16 a bag which Nu Skin will then send out through a third party company to help those in need.

VitaMeal is described on the packaging as "Roasted Maize and Soya Bean Porridge."

Nu Skin are basically selling VitaMeal at full price, but instead of sending the product to the buyer, they bundle it together and ship it out through an aid provider to help valuable causes.

They still profit from the sale in exactly the same way as if the sale was to a normal retail cusomter.

This is from an official Nu Skin document.

"Individuals can purchase VitaMeal, which sells for $25.50 in the U.S. Like any other Nu Skin product, sales leaders can earn commissions on VitaMeal purchases. Commissions paid on VitaMeal sales are similar to those paid on other Nu Skin products."

Nu Skin even suggest that reps use the Nourish the Children campaign to reach their sales volumes.

“If you need volume at the end of the month — Go NTC (Nourish the Children)”, Nu Skin said in a 2010 Internet advisory to distributors.

A 2014 Nu Skin message to reps offered an example of a fictional salesperson called “Ernie.” He was $200 short of his monthly volume, so instead of ordering “product” he bought nine bags of VitaMeal, the message said. In a “win, win,” Ernie got paid for his volume, he got a tax deduction, and nine children got fed for a month."

The issue here is that other similar cereals are distributed by relief organisations for a fraction of the price. An example of this is Didion Milling in Wisconsin USA.

CEO, John Didion, says that his firm could deliver bags of “Corn Soy Blend Plus” — comparable in calories and nutrients to VitaMeal — to Malawi for just 7.5 cents a meal. The comparable per-meal price for VitaMeal would be 85 cents.

Despite charging 10 times as much, Nu Skin’s costs may be even less than those of a U.S. producer like Didion, since Nu Skin cuts transportation and the cost of goods by having its product manufactured in Malawi or China from locally grown produce. (Source - Barron's Article - Nu Skin's Controversial bid to feed the hungry.)

So Nu Skin are technially helping the poor, but your £16 donation will be pretty much wasted, most of it profiting Nu Skin and only a small amount spent on valuable food for the hungry.

ArbunneHun · 08/10/2018 14:00

That is completely vile and manipulative behaviour & practise by Nu Skin.

8misskitty8 · 08/10/2018 15:32

Some foreverbots are now using October being breast cancer awareness month to promote their eversheild deodorant, which I think is disgraceful.
Apparently every ‘penny of profit ‘from their sales of the deodorant will be donated.
They mention how many woman get breast cancer and one of them actually said she uses it as a prevention as its aluminium in deodorants that cause cancer.

One of the ones I know has now tagged me in her post along with her other female friends. She wants to send £100 and to do it she has to sell 50 of them and would like to see how many of us will buy one.
It’s really pissed me off as she knows my mum had breast cancer and I actually found the post quite upsetting. I’ve untagged myself so I don’t have to see it.

8misskitty8 · 08/10/2018 15:38

Now she’s posted that the eversheild is a favourite product of those undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer as it helps. 😡

Afishblowingbubbles · 08/10/2018 17:29

8misskitty8, so sorry to hear about your Mum, my wonderful Dad died last year from liver cancer. It's makes me very angry because they are doing it for their own means. Please if you want to give to any charity give them donations, don't get drawn into the whole guilt-tripping crap the bots come out with. That deodorant stick is shit anyway. I tried it once, it smells nice like soap but is no use as a deodorant, f you get my meaning.

8misskitty8 · 08/10/2018 18:40

Afishblowingbubbles sorry for your loss. My mums cancer was caught early enough to treat but It was still 3 operations and months of chemo and radiation for her to be given the all clear. Although she is on a cocktail of drugs to keep going.

Seeing my friend post was just shit. I know she has been sucked into the forevercrap and writes nonsense about their gel drinks and stuff daily. But to actually use a charity to drum up sales was just shocking.

Spongebobette · 08/10/2018 18:46

They have no morals. None.
Once you start bending the truth / exaggerating, you end up doing all sorts of questionable things to make sales and recruit.

FAQs

Q) The monetary values for levels 2 and 3 are not enough to cover the cost of a ticket from my location to Stockholm. Can the amount be increased?
A) Unfortunately, the amount cannot be increased. All costs outside of the travel contribution, and the ticket to Global Rally are the responsibility of the qualifier. This is of course a non-qualifier incentive, if an FBO is looking for further costs of the trip to be covered, they still have the opportunity to qualify for the Global Rally/Chairman’s Bonus incentive.

Q) If I have a named spouse on my ID number, does the second earned ticket to Global Rally need to be given to them or can it be gifted to another person?
A) The second Global Rally ticket may be given to anyone of your choice, we just ask that proof that he/she will attend Stockholm is provided.

Q) Can an FBO who signs up during the qualification period qualify for this incentive?
A) Yes, as long as the FBO is 4CC active during each full month through the qualification period and all other incentive requirements are fulfilled, they can still qualify."
