Checked TIO to see if anyone had won and it's vanished!! Surely it isn't contentious 😂

£100 this month which is the most I've ever won so I'm very happy!

Does anyone cleverer than I am have a calculation for working out how much interest your winnings equate to? I've won £250 so far this year on £29500 holdings.

BarbaraofSeville · 02/06/2020 08:34

Well if you take the simplistic approach that half the year has gone, which it has, as you can't win anything more until the first of July, and assuming that you've held the £29500 since at least 1 January, the rate is 250/29500 x 100 x 2 (as we're only half way through the year) = 1.7% annual interest rate, which is pretty good and well ahead of anything you can get from instant access savings.

Of course, if you win nothing for the rest of the year, that will go down to 0.85% for the year, which isn't that terrible, considering what is available elsewhere.

Mirrorxx · 02/06/2020 09:22

I won 2 x £25 this month with 10k holdings. First won since March. Very tempted to take it out now

crusheddaffodils · 02/06/2020 09:33

I tend to think of it against other easy access options. For example, I have an account which pays 1.35% (going down to 1.25% this month). My £19,000 would earn £237.50 in there, so if I can get close to that, I'll be happy.
I've had it in premium bonds for 3 draws: £25 first month, nothing on second and £125 today (5 x £25).

Pepperwand · 02/06/2020 11:16

Thanks @BarbaraofSeville that's really helpful @crusheddaffodils I also think of it against easy access savings as it's essentially where we store our emergency fund and other money we want to be able to get to quickly.

FiveShelties · 03/06/2020 10:46

25GBP on 14,200GBP - not life changing but there is always next month.

Dinosauraddict · 04/06/2020 01:00

@FiveShelties - better than a kick in the teeth! Grin

FiveShelties · 04/06/2020 10:53

@Dinosauraddict it absolutely is Grin

Ickabog · 20/06/2020 09:31

Joining the thread as I bought my first PB yesterday, am I right in thinking the first draw they will be entered into will be August?

grumpypug · 23/06/2020 23:35

That's right. They need to be in for a full month before they're entered into a draw. Good luck!!

Ickabog · 25/06/2020 06:50

Thanks grumpypug Grin

Pineapple75 · 25/06/2020 12:56

Bought my first lot this month too. Roll on August!

Blaziken · 26/06/2020 08:19

Just bought a big chunk. Excited for August! Good luck everyone!

Dinosauraddict · 01/07/2020 08:20

Does anyone else get really excited the day before reveal each month? I count down to midnight and always find myself checking at stupid AM. Blush

GreyGardens88 · 01/07/2020 10:40

When do you normally get notified? This is my first draw and I know I'm statistically likely to win nothing

Dinosauraddict · 01/07/2020 14:02

I have the Prize Checker app on my phone, so if I click on then I can see from midnight.

Sunseed · 01/07/2020 15:59

Have you seen that one of the July £1m prize winners only bought his winning bond in May. How jammy is that!!!!

GreyGardens88 · 01/07/2020 16:08

Bloody hell I bought loads of bonds in May too, how unfair!
CrepuscularCritter · 01/07/2020 21:49

Has anyone had problems accessing Prize Checker? It's telling me that my code is wrong, but I know it's not. I probably need to dig out my paperwork and get it sorted.

Pepperwand · 01/07/2020 22:58

@Dinosauraddict I'm like that too.... usually wake up at some point in the night and end up looking at the app..... can't help myself Grin

GreyGardens88 · 02/07/2020 00:02

Won £25 in my first draw! £8000 holdings. I'm happy with that!

OffToSingapore · 02/07/2020 01:57

1 x £25 this month on £28,000.

Dinosauraddict · 02/07/2020 04:37

That's really good @GreyGardens88!
I got £100 this month on maximum holdings so I'm really pleased with that Smile

Riddlediddle · 02/07/2020 06:26

Nothing for my ds with £18.5k holdings.
We also have £18.5k holdings too - this is the first eligible month in tne draw after moving money from savings to premium bonds due to terrible interest rates - £125 win so I'm happy with that! Smile

Pepperwand · 02/07/2020 06:40

£50 for us on £29500. I'm happy if I win anything! Have put an extra £5k in that will be eligible from August so I'll keep dreaming of a big win for next month Grin
