I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

[ Arti sits back and waits for the flood of recruits, hoping that she doesn't end up looking like a no-mates...]

I have mine now (thank you Bugger) - and am enjoying it a lot too!

FlyingMonkey · 16/04/2010 20:42

I still haven't got my book. Hoping Maria has received hers unless volcanic ash has delayed it's journey over the Irish sea!

muddleduck · 20/04/2010 08:47

Artifarti

Hi!
I have your book at the moment - I don't want to post on your thread in case of spoilers. I've just finished the first book - shall I go on to the second part straight away or do you think they are best with a bit of a break in between?

or does anyone else have an opinion on this?

ta

artifarti · 20/04/2010 21:21

muddleduck - I read both at once. I think there are so many characters that it might be easy to forget what's going on if you leave a gap (or that might just be me...)

Any luck FlyingMonkey?

FlyingMonkey · 20/04/2010 21:37

Yes, ta. I got two books in yesterday's post (and two lots of chocolate, yum yum). I've read one already and posted on it, the other is for next month. I guess Ladybee must be busy as she hasn't posted any comments for a while.

Maria2007loveshersleep · 27/04/2010 23:01

Hi everyone

Oh I feel really bad, I've completely lost track of this thread! However I'm currently reading my book & planning to send it on to Arti May 1. (It's Poshwellies' book I think, enjoying it so far ). Really sorry I've disappeared, haven't even had time to read through the thread so have lost track of what's happening etc! Am I missing a book? As I said, have lost track ...

Was stuck in Greece for a bit due to volcanic ash cloud, thankfully I persisted (because of having toddler DS with me) & got on a flight back relatively soon, compared to others... am swamped in work as this is the last month before formally submitting my PhD, but still keen to participate in this book swap club. Is the initial circle about to finish btw? Are we about to choose new books for next year?

muddleduck · 28/04/2010 08:33

LadyBee
would it be ok if I was a little late this month? (again )
I'm really enjoying this month's book but finding it a bit slow going. I really want to finish it but have about 150pp to go and I cant see that happening by post day.
ta.

aristocat · 28/04/2010 12:13

ladies.....

i think i am right in saying that there are 3 more books each to read before the circle is complete.

i have been thinking of my next book for a while as my current one hasnt been liked very much

hope everyone is well

dysgu i have posted to you early - hope thats ok

Dysgu · 28/04/2010 19:18

Thank you aristocat for the early book and chocolate. I am still reading my current book but will hurry to finish and then post it on.

artifarti · 28/04/2010 20:04

Hello all

Maria if you have poshwellies book then you are still on the right track. Glad you got back from Greece okay!

Yes, there are three more books to post and read (so, May 1, June 1 and July 1). I would love to carry on doing this so in about six weeks' time will check who else does and ask you to start emailing the details of your new book choice to me like you did last time. So thinking caps on! (I will also post the reminder about what books we don't want, my email address etc.)

aristocat - sorry I am going to be late again this month. Sorry, sorry, sorry...

BTW, it's our book swap birthday on Friday - a year gone by, can't believe it...

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 28/04/2010 22:29

Hi all, I've been up to my eyes, and also limiting my online time. No, no, no, not a whole year surely?????

SLF, sorry I was late - again - this month. I have two books this month, I'm reading them both (one is for commuting, one is for home), I'll try and finish at least one of them this weekend to send on, but you will be getting another too.

I've also been thinking of potential next books. Would it be far too much hassle to change the direction the books go in for part two - i.e. PistachioLemon currently sends me yummy choccie, and I feel I'd like the chance to send some to her. Arti, that might be a total ballache to organise, so ignore me if so!

aristocat · 28/04/2010 22:54

arti
i wondered if you wanted one of us others to have the list of books this time round.
this would be so that you get a surprise and don't know whats coming

if youre happy to continue then it doesnt matter, but think about it. i don't mind having the titles/authors this time.

what do you think?

BTW no worries about being late, i am currently reading a contender for my choice.....

pooter · 29/04/2010 00:17

itsjusta i received your book and choccy last week - thanks, it was scrummy. Haven't had a chance to start the book yet as i have been reading loads of healthy living books i ordered from amazon. Its funny how having a baby makes you change how you live. When i had DS i went all ethical, and now im going all raw foodie. Lets hope we dont have any more children as i may disappear up my own backside .

muddleduck i posted yours two days ago, so you may have it. WRT your question above, i would read teh second one immediately! In fact i dont know how you have managed not to already! .

I have no ideas for the next book. I pretty much read non fiction apart from this book club, so i need to start trawling my shelves from yesteryear. Enid Blyton anybody?

muddleduck · 29/04/2010 08:52

Hi pooter.
I have a post office 'failed to deliver card' - I assumed it was dull school clothes for the boys but I guess it is the book. hooray!

I tried to get busy with reading last night but I fell asleep. NOT the fault of the book, just very tired.

I have a plan for my next book, but I'll need to borrow it back from my mum to check it is as good as I remember.

artifarti · 29/04/2010 09:43

Bugger, that's a nice idea to reverse it - what do others think?

aristocat - People only send me the initials of book and author and so I never know what's coming either. I already have everyone's details so am happy to keep co-ordinating.

I have a book in mind too but also need to re-read it...

OP posts:
aristocat · 29/04/2010 11:26

arti ok thats fine then.
like the reversing idea, gets my vote

pooter · 29/04/2010 12:00

yep - i like the reversing idea too - it will make a nice change for muddleduck to get her books on time

artifarti · 29/04/2010 19:30

BTW pooter - does chocolate count as raw food then?! If not, I'd think very carefully...

OP posts:
LolaLadybird · 29/04/2010 21:29

Another vote here for reversing it - will be nice for Itsjusta to get her books on time next time round!

No idea on a book for next time - like most big, important decisions it will involve much procrastination I fear!

FlyingMonkey · 29/04/2010 21:50

Ooo, reversing sounds like a fab idea.

Maria, I have two books to post to you: one for May and one for June.

I am stuck for ideas for my next book. I think I may try a more daring choice this time round and will prepare myself for cries of 'what is this old toot?!'.

AgentProvocateur · 29/04/2010 22:13

Happy to reverse (but will probably get horribly confused!)

RL caught up with me this month, so I've only read one chapter of the book, but I'm sure I have it in the house somewhere, so I will get round to reading it eventually.

I'll post to lolaladybird tomorrow.

And I'll start thinking of a more cheery book for next time.

Dysgu · 30/04/2010 17:25

Gosh we have all been here a whole year! Where did the time go?

Reversing sounds like a good idea - I just hope I don't jinx aristocat as my postee left twice and PistachioLemon was third time lucky!

And just 6 weeks to decide on what book to choose for the next time around - I had better start trawling the book shelves. i mentionned a possible contender to a friend the other day - and she hated the book so now I am having a rethink...

Itsjustafleshwound · 01/05/2010 09:55

Hi all,

Hope you are all well and enjoying the summer weather...

I think I have my choice nailed for the next round, but I still have some time to change my mind ...

Reversing the order would be great idea

Thanks all for some great reads!!

LolaLadybird · 01/05/2010 21:19

Itsjusta - book and choc posted today so should be with you on Tuesday.

The book I'm reading at the moment could be a contender for the next round. Two friends have read it and both really enjoyed it so that bodes well.

stickylittlefingers · 03/05/2010 10:25

hi - sorry I meant to be posting the book all last week, but work's been horribly busy. Sigh. But I will put it in my bag now to post tomorrow. It's a goodie...

Would be great to go round again, and in reverse seems like a good idea too. Hooray! What to choose this time round tho? I think something completely different to my book this time, at any rate (I don't think it's been a roaring success!! to say the least... but hopefully not a huge disappointment). Sadly, a new book and some chocolate is a Major Event in my life each month, and one I really really look forward to, so I wouldn't want it to stop...

Happy Anniversary to all of ye!!
