I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

[ Arti sits back and waits for the flood of recruits, hoping that she doesn't end up looking like a no-mates...]

aristocat · 01/04/2010 21:27

happy easter everyone!

Dysgu · 01/04/2010 22:20

Thank you aristocat book and chocolate have arrived. I will take them on holiday with me on Saturday.

PistachioLemon I have book and chocolate ready to go. Postage is sorted - but my email went down today so couldn't get address (is in my address book - old fashioned paper kind - but can't find it!) Email will be back up tomorrow so I can add address and will post straight away - sorry for the delay.

I was shocked to see just how long we had been going - noticed the first date when I added to a thread about a book earlier.

Is the plan to continue - oh dear, that means I have to think of another book - must make a better choice, me thinks!

aristocat · 02/04/2010 00:07

dysgu glad book & chocolate arrived safely.
i have been thinking about my next book for a while and think i have it

have a great holiday!

pooter · 02/04/2010 11:09

No dysgu i loved your book so am very glad you chose it!

I havent a clue about which book to choose next time - will put my thinking cap on. Or my easter bonnet.

artifarti · 02/04/2010 13:03

I have a candidate for the next book but must re-read it and make sure it's not crap (oh, the pressure...)

LolaLadybird · 03/04/2010 14:52

I think the sum total of about 2 people have enjoyed my book so far so I think my end of year report will definitely be reading 'must do better'!! And yes, I have also been giving it much thought - whenever I finish a good book, I'm wondering it whether it's a worthy contender for our next go.

Agent - book and choc arrived today, book looks interesting and choc looks like it won't be around for long! Thank you.

Itsjusta - posted yours this morning. Had it all parcelled up for Thursday posting (a record!) but super-busy day at work and didn't get to post it.

Happy Easter all!

AgentProvocateur · 03/04/2010 16:29

lola that's one more person than has enjoyed mine! I'm worried in case you all expel me from the next one!

aristocat · 04/04/2010 10:35

HAPPY EASTER

hope you all have a great day!

Itsjustafleshwound · 06/04/2010 17:53

Hi Lola - book and choc arrived today! Choc almost finished - you would think that with the glut of choc this family have seen the past day or so it would have lasted longer ...

artifarti · 08/04/2010 07:47

aristocat sorry for being rubbish, I am posting this morning, honest!

artifarti · 08/04/2010 07:52

And aristocat are your profile photos new, don't think I've seen them before? Gorgeous children you have!

aristocat · 08/04/2010 21:57

hi arti thanks for compliment about DCs
i put photos on last year - too lazy to do it before however they are nearly 8 and 6 yo now and look older already......
don't worry bout the book, i don't read much in school holidays anyway.
they are back at school on 20/4 so probably read it then!

did i tell you DD has had a poem published in a book.
the book is called My First Acrostic and her poem is:

Leaves are drifting
Everywhere
Autumn time is here
Violet and scarlet and golden
Every one is different
See them changing colours

Itsjustafleshwound · 09/04/2010 17:41

Wow!! Congrats little aristocat !! Already a published poet!! Now if little fleshwound could just make his wees where he should ...

Enjoying the sunshine, the school holidays and able to get a bit of reading done inbetween accidents ..

LolaLadybird · 12/04/2010 21:37

Isn't it lovely having some sunshine - makes such a difference. DH and I have both taken this week off work and are taking the DC's out for day trips. It's so nice not having to watch the clock and worry about having school uniforms ironed. Not getting much reading done - all the fresh air means I'm done for in the evenings!

Dysgu · 12/04/2010 22:15

I am hoping the good weather continues too. We have been up to the lake district for the past week and had a great time (with DP's sister and her family) - we had 4 under fives with us but Grandma came too, and had her own apartment linked to our huge one!

Now we have another week before school starts again and DP has taken most of this week off too so we should be able to head off to the beach sometime.

Still, not much reading happening - have yet to start this month's book...

The chocolate has been finished, however...

LolaLadybird · 12/04/2010 22:54

Any tips for the Lake District Dysgu? We're going in the summer and altho' DH and I went years ago (we got engaged there - aah), this will be our first visit with DC's. They'll be 5 and 2.

aristocat · 12/04/2010 23:28

hi ladies, no reading here yet either due to school holidays & nice weather .......not that i am complaining of course!

chocolate has been eaten today [greedy emotion] and it was divine.
thank you arti

stickylittlefingers · 13/04/2010 12:27

hiya - is the BuggerofSuburbia about? I've not had the book so far, and she's normally very prompt... Maybe just the holidays.

DP and DD1 are "on holidays" this week, but I'm still stuck in the ruddy office. Boo!

Lola we went across to the Lakes for a week when the girls were about 4.5 and 1.5. - it was the autumn half term so the weather wasn't brilliant, but highlights were walking round Tarn Hows, the Ravenglass-Eskdale railway and poking around in Ruskin's garden (Brantwood) (loads of little paths and the girls loved it). Never been there, but I am told the wildlife park by Windermere is really good too. We did split up as well so dd1 could do some proper walking, dd2 being at the awkward age where she couldn't walk so far and was much too heavy to be carried.

FlyingMonkey · 13/04/2010 16:12

I am ashamed to say that I haven't posted this month's book to Maria yet . No excuse other than being badly organised. I will definitely go to the PO tomorrow! On the other hand, I haven't received anything from Ladybee either yet...

artifarti · 15/04/2010 07:46

Is anyone still missing a book and needs me to follow up?

aristocat that is a lovely poem - is your daughter 7 yet? She could enter the bedtime story competition. Glad you enjoyed the choc - I was worried about the chilli but then remembered you are a curry fan . I have been cooking from the MJ book and can recommend the Sri Lankan chicken with coconut and cashew dish and the daal with lime and cheese! Yum!

aristocat · 15/04/2010 09:59

arti
shes still only 5, will be 6yo on 25th May.
is the bedtime story comp on MN?

chocolate was delish thank you i had been looking at that to send to dysgu and for myself too!

will look at those recipes from MJ, i love experimenting and making new dishes - DH often feels like the guinea pig
her green pepper & courgette sabzi is a lovely side dish.
