I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

[ Arti sits back and waits for the flood of recruits, hoping that she doesn't end up looking like a no-mates...]

Thanks stickylittlefingers - look forward to it. lolaladybird I posted yours yesterday, so you should get it tomorrow.

I only read one of the two tales in artifarti's book, so I'm not going to review it until I get it out the libary and finish it - just in case there are any spoilers on the review thread.

Hope you all have a lovely peaceful Christmas.

Dysgu · 01/12/2009 22:41

Thanks aristocat for the book and choccie (and Xmas card) which arrived today.

PistachioandLemon sorry but I have not made it to the post office yet - I have the choccie all ready and will be posting on Thursday.

Things just seem to be so busy right now!

pooter · 02/12/2009 09:05

muddleduck i came downstairs this morning (after DS had told me he wanted to go on his own, and for me to "wait a minute") to find DS (2.9) hiding under the desk with the entire slab of chocolate in his sticky grasp!!!

that choccy was intended for you! Change of plan, but i will still endeavour to post today! sorry!

(DS was most annoyed that i took it off him - tears before 8am - great start to the day!)

whinegums · 02/12/2009 19:01

Hi, sorry for radio silence from me. Yes, I have indeed moved house, and it's been nuts - and we're broadbandless so I'm reduced to a very slow dongle. Arti, I'll email you the new address, but no worries if this month's has already been sent as we are between new house and old flat, so it'll get to me.

I haven't got very far with the book, which is a shame, because I'm really enjoying it - Flying Monkey's choice.

Anyway, catch up more later. Hope all are well.

LolaLadybird · 02/12/2009 21:37

MrsMuddle - book and v good choc arrived today, thank you. A good job you did decide to get on and post rather than wait as I think I'm going to need the full month!

Itsjusta - I'm late as usual (would you expect any different now? ) and posted yours today so hopefully with you tomorrow or Fri.

PistachioLemon · 02/12/2009 23:32

Hello all. Sorry for not being around much, I've been having some fertility issues and avoided MN for a bit.

Whinegums, I finally got through the book (no idea why it took me so long, my reading rate must just have slowed down a bit) and put it in the post today before seeing that you've moved. Are you sure it'll get to you alright?

Dygsu, no need to apologise, I'm really busy this week so won't get round to starting anything until the end of the weekend at least.

I just realised yesterday that I haven't posted yet on any of the book threads...oops...the first two books I was thinking about so much that I didn't get around to it - I shall try to remedy that soon

whinegums · 03/12/2009 21:36

Hello - PistachioLemon, book and choc safely received, thank you very much! Stickylittlefingers, yours will be on its way very soon....

PistachioLemon · 04/12/2009 00:04

Pheweee, I'm glad to hear that Whinegums, I was a little worried that it would go missing either in the post or in between residences

Itsjustafleshwound · 04/12/2009 17:03

lolaladybird - thanks for the book and choc - the choc has gone - really yummy! Thank you

arisHOHOHOcat · 07/12/2009 13:59

hi
hope everyones ok.

just tryiong out my xmas name

artifarti · 07/12/2009 19:25

aristocat I went to the PO with your parcel at lunchtime and there was a queue of about 50 people , no exaggeration so it will probably be better if I post at my poxy local PO when I am off work on Wednesday, if that's okay?

I really enjoyed the book (itsjusta...) but there is so much to think about I am mulling it over before I post on the thread.

arti tis fine. i am reading a David Morrell at the moment and almost finished so the timing will be good.

its my birthday on 1st Jan so i am busy with that too

pooter · 08/12/2009 16:29

don't chuck me out of the club please!! I posted the parcel today muddleduck i am so sorry for the delay. Apart from DS slobbering over your choccy (don't worry i bought another!) we have the builders in and i'm hard pressed to find my sanity, let alone a book. However - it is done ans winging it's way to you!

Maria2007loveshersleep · 09/12/2009 10:09

Hi everyone. Oh my god, I've been awfully late in a) finishing the book and b) (of course) sending it....Arti hope you forgive me?! Also: I'm away on holiday next friday (the 18th) & don't come back to the UK until the 10th of January, so I wonder what I should do about the January book.

Also: FlyingMonkey, don't worry about the book! Mainly I hope the family emergency is under control? Taking into account that I'm going to be very late next month too (due to our holiday) don't worry too much about sending me my book...

artifarti · 09/12/2009 11:41

aristocat - posted first class this morning.

Maria - I have two book club books to be getting on with so don't worry, whenever. I'm sure we'll all catch up eventually!

We are very pleased here today as DS slept until 7am for the first time ever and will probably never do it again. (Can you believe it Maria? )

LadyBee · 09/12/2009 19:44

Looks like FlyingMonkey hasn't been back on yet, but just wanted to say I posted to her last week.
I'm another absentee reader , I'm trying to cut down MN time, mainly because I'm ttc at the mo' and find it all too easy to drift into obsession if I'm on the laptop too much so have taken up knitting in a desperate bid to avoid the ttc threads.

I can't remember who normally posts to me, but I haven't had my chocolate book yet ..I'm still here

muddleduck · 10/12/2009 09:24

Pooter
Thanks for the book - arrived yesterday. Looking forward to this. I confess to having given up on another by this author, but I was pregnant at the time so my brain was a bit dormant.
Great chocolate - is this the same as what your ds had - if so he has good taste. It is like posh chocolate orange! I haven't started the book yet btw, but I was working late last night and needed cheering up when I finally got home.

LadyBee
Sorry you haven't had yours yet. I was a bit late, but it should be there by now...

LadyBee · 10/12/2009 22:17

muddleduck, the package arrived today! hoorah...it looks like an interesting one

muddleduck · 11/12/2009 10:27

LadyBee
Glad it got there (at last)
I really enjoyed the book. A nice feel-good one for the festive period I think.

Maria2007loveshersleep · 11/12/2009 13:36

Hi,

arti, I've decided to send you the book on monday, come rain or come shine, & hope to finish part of it over the weekend. I haven't had a packet from Flyingmonkey yet, hopefully her family emergency is not a big problem atm

On the topic of sleep: fantastic news about sleeping until 7 for your DS arti!!! I'm a bit about it! It's great, long may it last. As for news on our part, will email you, but suffice to say here that we still get the one wake in the night at 3.00 am or so... but it turns out the reason is my DS has asthma so as we kind of suspected he wakes because of his persistent cough / wheezing...

arisHOHOHOcat · 12/12/2009 16:29

arti
thank you for the book, chocolate(mmmm) and xmas card.
must admit to starting the choc but not the book, yet

hope everyones ok

Maria2007loveshersleep · 14/12/2009 17:52

Arti, as promised book is in the post! And in the spirit of Christmas (and because of my lateness in sending) I have done special delivery which means you should be getting it tomorrow Also, I did this because of the particular type of choc I sent this month (you'll see, no more said...) Hope you like it & it survives the trip...

arisHOHOHOcat · 14/12/2009 18:34

hurrah........xmas smileys are here

stickylittlefingers · 15/12/2009 09:26

whinegums did you send the book? Fine if you haven't (waiting with bated breath emoticon!) but I was a bit concerned it might have got lost somewhere...?

I'm going to try one of these festive ones...

  • me wondering how I'm going to get all this work done before Christmas... heigh ho, climb every mountain I spose...
Maria2007loveshersleep · 15/12/2009 11:00

Stickylittlefingers, I also wonder about things to do before Christmas... am very anxious, need to do tons of things before leaving for Greece in a few days .

(On the plus side, at least the Christmas emoticons are here!! Surely a good sign ).
