I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

Its a fantastic cookbook, I have it too (Haven't cooked from it yet though , have just looked through it again & again!)

aristocat · 21/11/2009 23:02

arti i already have a mahoosive (dontcha love that word) spice rack

unfortunately DCs wont eat my spicy dishes, only just agreed to spag bol - much to my dismay.
i just love & enjoy cooking and DH is a willing guinea pig volunteer.

My DS is 15 mo and he likes the flavours of curry so now I have to just gradually up the heat! I'll have him on vindaloo by 3 years old

This is my Favourite Curry Recipe Book

Erm - love a good curry, my dad makes the best mutton curry ever, but when I was living at home, I didn't like anything spiced - nothing changes your eating habits more than moving out the family home and having to DIY!!

Confession time : I am just not going to get around to reading this month's (Dysgu's) choice - I have a bit of a hectic time ahead and deadlines looming ! No excuses, but I am really sorry and will do better next month!

aristocat · 22/11/2009 19:54

no worries Itsjusta these are busy times

all this talk of curry is making me want one, i do a nice madras from scratch......hmm..maybe tomorrow?

MrsMuddle · 22/11/2009 20:56

Glad I've found this thread again. Thought I'd lost it, so I'll add it to my watched threads now.

I'm really enjoying this month's book (Artifarti's choice, I think) but I'll have a to get a move on if I'm going to finish it.

LolaLadybird · 22/11/2009 21:25

Don't worry if you end up sending late MrsMuddle - I have the inlaws coming to stay for a week over Xmas so hoping 2 extra pairs of hands (well one really, FIL is fairly hopeless) will free up more reading time!

On the subject of cookery books, I've had my copy of Nigella Christmas out lately for a little peruse. I remember there being a thread last Xmas on whether you were Nigella vs Delia when it came to Xmas cookery books - I'd be interested to know where you good ladies stand?

MrsMuddle · 22/11/2009 21:39

OK, thanks. I'm Nigelia - a bit of both! I like Nigella's ham, and I often make it with Delias's side dishes. In my dreams, I waft about my kitchen with an air of Nigella fabulousness, but in reality, I'm more of a Delia Home Ec teacher type.

artifarti · 22/11/2009 21:44

Delia here. I can't bear Nigella's recipes for some reason.

OP posts:
aristocat · 22/11/2009 21:48

well, i have neither Delia or Nigella!
goy a few Gary Rhodes though

aristocat · 22/11/2009 21:58

doh..........got not goy

FlyingMonkey · 23/11/2009 10:14

I love Nigella for sweet stuff/baking and Delia for savoury dishes. I also have several Rachel Allen, Jamie Oliver and River Cottage cook books. Unfortunately, my culinary ambitions far exceed my actual skill.

Maria2007loveshersleep · 23/11/2009 15:25

Nigella here. Although I love Delia too. I know Nigella can be a bit naff etc however her recipes seem to work & I tend to turn to them again & again for some strange reason.

Itsjustafleshwound · 25/11/2009 12:40

I don't have any Nigella or Delia cookery books or any Christmas meal ideas - probably will make do with what is available in the shops on the 23/24th December!

Pooter - I have posted the book and choc to oou today - hope it arrives.

FlyingMonkey · 25/11/2009 12:52

Maria, I am going to be late posting the next book to you as I am having to fly over to England today due to a family emergency and I don't know when I'll be back home.

artifarti · 25/11/2009 19:25

Hope everything is okay FlyingMonkey.

Seeing as posting has occurred are the rest of us okay to post this month as usual? I guess some people will have more/less time than usual but not everyone manages in a normal month anyway.

Am I making this up whinegums or have you moved house in the last few weeks? If so, I will need your new address to pass on to PistachioLemon.

I'm fine to post on 1st. I've ordered your book out the library Artifarti, so I'll finish it at leisure and give lolaladybird the full month to enjoy it.

MrsMuddle · 25/11/2009 21:54

Meant to say that next month, I (and whinegums too probably) will have to post early or late - think Scottish POs are closed 31 Dec, and 1-4 Jan.

aristocat · 26/11/2009 11:26

hi all, will be posting on the 1st too

flyingmonkey hope you are ok.

aristocat · 30/11/2009 13:26

dysgu have posted to you today - hope it arrives soon

artifarti · 30/11/2009 19:22

aristocat - I received the book a bit late this month and it's a whopper! Am really enjoying it but might be a few days...

OP posts:
aristocat · 30/11/2009 20:53

no worries arti just send it on when youre finished.
ooohhhh a whopper - youve got me all excited now !!!!!

artifarti · 30/11/2009 22:21

Oooooh, missus, stop it!

stickylittlefingers · 01/12/2009 13:48

mrsmuddle I just went and posted, so hopefully will be with you tomorrow... I hope the chocolate is OK - I've never had that flavour myself but thought it sounded seasonal!

pooter · 01/12/2009 17:56

itsjusta hi! Received book and choccy - thanks. Choccy is all eaten and it was really lovely. Lindt is very generous with their nuts.

muddleduck i intend to post book and choc tomorrow - although this will involve ransacking the house because i dont know where the book is. We have had the builders in knocking down a wall and they managed to burst a pipe on Friday. I have no kitchen or dining room - just an empty echoey shell - and i think i am fast losing my mind!

but anyway....i will do my best!
