I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

[ Arti sits back and waits for the flood of recruits, hoping that she doesn't end up looking like a no-mates...]

FlyingMonkey - I'm amazed it got through so quickly! Good think I didn't post it from my local post office as it's one of the more 'militant' sorting offices

Thanks everyone, I do like to go back and look at the photos myself - especially now that the memory of the stress of all the organisation is fading.

muddleduck · 05/11/2009 22:16

Hi LadyBee
Thanks for the pics - gorgeous! Tis lovely to be able to picture of the person that I'm posting to
I posted late (again) this month but it is on its way. The chocs are a bit less classy too...
The book is quite well travelled as I took it with me on a work trip to the US. I enjoyed it a lot, will get round to posting on that thread once I can work out whose book it is

must go to bed now.

Itsjustafleshwound · 06/11/2009 12:35

PistachioLemon, thanks, received this month's book and choccie yesterday (which made me that I'd forgotten to send mine on... Doh!

Maria2007loveshersleep · 11/11/2009 14:01

Hi everyone, sorry I've disappeared. I finally- today!!!- sent Itsjustas book to Arti. Embarrased for the delay! But on a positive note, I did enjoy Itjustas book & have posted some of my thoughts on the relevant thread

Arti, really really VERY sorry for such a huge delay. I've sent the packet first class so hopefully tomorrow or at the latest friday it'll be with you. There's a little surprise in the packet to make up for the delay...hope you forgive me!

Flyingmonkey, thanks for sending me a lovely huge chocolate the book. Received ages ago but only now have had a chance to come to this thread. Seems like an interesting read!

stickylittlefingers · 13/11/2009 11:39

whinegums I have the book and lurvely choc, thanks! Book looks intriguing and choc is gawn gawn gawn. Have to finish my current book before starting this one, but will get down to it before long

artifarti · 14/11/2009 16:56

Still no arrival of book/choc. Blardy posties.

Is anyone else as sad as me and has already started thinking of their book for the next round (which is still about 8 months away!)?

OP posts:
aristocat · 14/11/2009 17:35

arti no book yet! what a disaster and the football today. OMG.

YES YES YES me too, have recently read a book which would have been suitable.....but cant tell you can i?

Maria2007loveshersleep · 14/11/2009 21:45

Arti so sorry to hear book & choc didn't arrive yet. Bloody posties indeed . Let me know when they arrive!

YES as for choosing the next book I've thought of one that I think would be lovely & I suspect most people haven't read it. I also have 2-3 others in my list so hopefully when the time comes I'll be prepared . Not sad at all, this book swap thing has been good fun so far. Especially getting the chocolate each month

Itsjustafleshwound · 15/11/2009 16:55

Yep, the book has been chosen - can only be an improvement on my last selection ....

artifarti · 15/11/2009 17:36

Posties forgiven as they made an unprecedented Sunday delivery. Thanks for choc Maria and I quite like the look of the book (once I'd remembered it wasn't Richard Gere in the film )

OP posts:
Maria2007loveshersleep · 16/11/2009 12:04

Good to hear you've finally received the package Arti! And glad to hear you liked the choc (chocs). Enjoy book & chocs...

(am not going to say what I think about the actor who's in the film- not Richard Gere, true- because it'll be a spoiler for others )

muddleduck · 19/11/2009 21:02

Hi.
I'm half way though my current read and I'm loving it!

Can we have a recap on the order of the books - I still haven't posted on the last two months and now can't remember whose books they were. I know that i've got whinegum's now, but what came before them?

I loved last months btw.

Can we have a "favourite book" vote at the end of the cycle?

I'd tell you who my current favourite is, but of course I have no idea whose book that was

tis a mystery how I manage to hold down a job with such a shambles for a brain

muddleduck · 19/11/2009 21:10

oh and btw, my mum asked me to buy her books for xmas and I've just ordered her two of the ones I've read on here!

I would tell you which ones but obviously I can't

FlyingMonkey · 19/11/2009 21:25

Good idea re: voting for favourite book, Muddleduck. I have one in mind but with so many to go, that could easily change

aristocat · 19/11/2009 21:32

muddleduck heres our list,

artifarti
aristocat
Dysgu
PistachioLemon
whinegums
stickylittlefingers
MrsMuddle
Lol aLadyBird
Itsjustafleshwound
pooter
muddleduck
LadyBee
FlyingMonkey
Maria2007

dont forget PL is allocated poshwellies book

fantastic idea to vote for our favourite book,
[ would it be too difficult to give them a small prize?]

stickylittlefingers · 20/11/2009 09:19

It ought to be a book token really, didn't it? Jeez, I haven't seen a book token since I left school - probably they're all virtual and put on to your mobile or something (I was amazed by a poster this morning that said you can get bus tickets to put on your mobile. I'm feeling very old)

Or perhaps a REALLY BIG bar of chocolate!

muddleduck · 20/11/2009 09:50

Or in true MN style we could just give them a sticker

thanks for the list.

artifarti · 20/11/2009 10:57

Surely it has to be chocolate for the prize - everyone has to post a bar - 13 bars, yumyum!

Hoping to start my book today. Back to 5.20am starts here, so everything is vveeerrrrryyyy slow...

Itsjustafleshwound · 20/11/2009 12:54

I was just wondering - next month is going to be so busy with Christmas and everything else, I was just wondering what everyone will think if we have a month break to catch up?

Good idea about the favourite book ...

muddleduck · 20/11/2009 19:57

Maybe it is just me but I read far more over xmas as I don't have to go to work

Maria2007loveshersleep · 21/11/2009 10:11

Yes, me too, I always read more over Christmas... but if others feel it's preferable to have a break, fine by me

aristocat · 21/11/2009 16:00

i dont mind if others want a break, i read about the same as usual - DCs have got new things but DH is also home so more work anyway!!!

i have put Madhur Jaffreys Ultimate Curry Bible on my xmas list this year, so will be studying that over the holidays too

artifarti · 21/11/2009 16:53

To echo, I don't mind, I have a huge pile of books waiting for me to get through them...

aristocat - I loooove MJ's Curry Bible and heartily recommend Mung Dal with Chicken, Curried Whole Chicken (Durban Style)and Moghlai Lamb with Spinach, yumyumyum...beware though, you will end up with a spice rack the length of the M6!
