I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

Hi, I'll be posting book & choc to Maria2007 this afternoon. Can't wait to see what the next book is...

MrsMuddle · 01/10/2009 13:44

stickylittlefingers thanks for the book and chocolate. It was so nice to come home after work yesterday and see it!

lolaladybird I've posted yours today, but I think there may be some sort of wildcat strike here again... Hope you get it soon.

LolaLadybird · 01/10/2009 15:14

Itsjusta - I'm afraid I'm badly organised here and so haven't made it to the post office yet but I promise I will do so in the next 2 days.

Unfortunately I've not been able to finish this months book either which I think is Posh Wellies choice. It was less about the book than the fact that things have been a bit hectic here. My apologies to Posh Wellies and I'm vowing to make a better effort in October! Must start getting myself off to bed earlier to allow regular reading time...

artifarti · 01/10/2009 17:57

aristocat - I'm afraid I've been pinned to the sofa today by a feverish snotty child (what is it with the immune systems of the males in this household?!) and so haven't made it to the post office. Hopefully tomorrow...sorry...

arti never mind, you look after DS

my choccy book can wait

PistachioLemon · 01/10/2009 20:01

Whinegums, yours went in the post today. There's also something funny going on where I am but I tried to get round that by posting it at work - apparently they take all the post somewhere where there is no strike so hopefully your book won't be affected.

I'm so looking forward to my next book.

PistachioLemon · 01/10/2009 20:02

arti, hope DS is feeling better soon.

Maria2007 · 02/10/2009 11:40

Arti, really sorry but have been a bit late in finishing the book this month (Stieg Larsson is the reason ). Your choccy is bought & sitting in the cupboard; I've managed to stop dp from gobbling it up but not sure I can contain him much longer so I'll send everything tomorrow or at worse monday.

My ds is also unwell btw. Turns out he has a bad ear infection

Itsjustafleshwound · 02/10/2009 12:10

lola - whenever you have a chance!

artifarti · 02/10/2009 14:57

aristocat - parcel duly posted, hope it manages to get through the strikes to you. I tried to keep snot/vomit/other infected bodily fluids off it but you might want to wear a forensic-style contamination suit when reading the book, just in case.

Sorry about your poor DS Maria, ear infections are horrible things. My DS is a bit better today but wants lots of cuddles and although this is lovely, I am getting a bit fed up of being smeared with snot. Now DP is ill too so I am doing the Florence Nightingale thing all round which I'm not really very good at...

aristocat I've got your book now. I want to start it tonight in bed, but I need to know if it's at all scary. DH is away this weekend, and last time I read a book by the same author, I was too terrified to go to sleep!

PistachioLemon · 02/10/2009 21:19

I got my book and chocolate today... thank you to whoever sent it

It's two firsts for me, I've not read the book before and have never had that sort of chocolate either. I have to confess to trying a bit of the chocolate and it's delicious unfortunately DH spied it and has already eaten half while my back was turned . I've got to get better at hiding it from him.

Am still mulling over the last book but will try to post something about it over the weekend.

LolaLadybird · 02/10/2009 21:25

Itsjusta - all set to visit the post office tomorrow. I bought the chocolate today and it will hopefully make up for last month's slim pickings. An interesting (!) looking bar of chocolate actually - can't decide whether it will be absolutely divine or bloody sickly! I suspect the answer to this lies in how sweet a tooth you have - I look forward to your feedback!!

MrsMuddle - your parcel arrived today, thankyou. Chocolate looks lovely, definitely one to be savoured when children (and DH) are absent I think. Just off to hide it put it somewhere safe now.

whinegums · 03/10/2009 12:54

Hi all. PistachioLemon, thank you for book, choccie and lovely card, which arrived today. Stickylittlefingers, yet again I fail miserably to get the book to you on time. I've got a tiny bit left (Arti's book btw, which I have enjoyed v much), so it should be going in the post on Monday. Chocolate has been procured of course!

I also have a snotgoblin here. Luckily haven't been infected myself yet, fingers crossed. I'm in bed by 10pm most nights now I'm working full time again, but too tired to read!

Hope everyone is well x

stickylittlefingers · 04/10/2009 10:53

hello - whinegums - don't worry at all! The little snotlings are gross, aren't they? At least mine is - she wanders about with her hair stuck to her face with dried snot. Doesn't seem to bother her in the least! Revolting little creature... especially when she uses my jumper as a hanky. eeugh eeugh eeugh...

FlyingMonkey · 04/10/2009 16:52

Hi, my book and chocolate (mmm, nutty tasty badness!) arrived this morning - thank you Ladybee. I actually own a copy of the book (Lolaladybird's choice) but I'll re-read and post my thoughts.

Dysgu · 04/10/2009 18:52

Thank you aristocat for the book and chocolate. I have not started either yet.

Am slightly jealous of all folk who manage to read in bed. I always used to read in bed before going to sleep - but since going back to work at the beginning of the school year, DD1 has been yo-yoing between sleeping in her bed and in ours!

Planning on beginning the book Ladybee's choice I think, soon.

PistachioLemon glad you liked the chocolate - although you much hide it better!

aristocat · 04/10/2009 20:32

hello ladies
MrsM the book is not at all scary, so you can sleep safely

Dysgu glad you have them, hoping mine will arrive tomorrow

muddleduck · 05/10/2009 11:01

Arse. I've forgotten to post the book.
Really sorry LadyBee. Will post it today. Honest.

Good job you all seem to like my book or I'd risk being evicted from the group

Pooter - thanks for the book, without this I'd never had remembered to post the last one on. The chocolate won't last long .

I really did have a brain once... or maybe I still do but it's all used up remembering nonsense.

aristoBLACKcat · 05/10/2009 11:16

Yay......the post is here

Have namechanged for some Halloween fun.

Thanks arti for book and chocolate and thanks muddleduck got your choice now [loving the title] and hoping to start it later today.

Itsjustafleshwound · 05/10/2009 14:00

lola - thank you the book and choc - it arrived today - the choc looks yummy - mmmmm (unfortunately my 2yo was about when I opened the package and wanted some cookiecake (choc) immediately!!)

Unfortunately, I have already read Poshwellies book - but I have fogotten a lot of it...

nosferartifartu · 07/10/2009 20:06

Trying on my Hallowe'en name to join aristoBLACKcat.

Looking forward to getting my chocolate book. Has everyone given and received okay this month?

Have just read a great book for anyone who likes non-fiction: Blood River by Tim Butcher, a journo who retraces Stanley's trip through the Congo. Really good read.

Maria2007 · 08/10/2009 09:43

Thanks for the book recommendation arti! Sounds interesting. I also want to recommend Stieg Larsson's books to anyone who hasn't read them yet. They live up to the hype; really cracking reads.

FlyingMonkey · 08/10/2009 10:43

Maria, have you read the new Stieg Larsson book yet? I am having to restrain myself from buying it as I have so many other new books waiting to be read. I'm currently reading The Little Stranger but haven't got that far into it yet. I'm struggling to find time to do much reading at the moment as DS is turning into a handful and keeping me demented occupied.

Itsjustafleshwound · 08/10/2009 10:54

DH really enjoyed Blood River! He has a thing for African non-fiction ...

The list of books I want to get through just grows - I have read the 1st book of the Millenium trilogy, I have the 2nd and will have something to suggest when DH asks me for gift ideas...
