I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

PistachioLemon - I think you have Maria2007's book (does it say in the front?) By the way - each book has a thread set up for it in this topic, so when you've read it you can go and see what others thought, say what you liked/didn't etc.

Off on me hols now t'ra!

PistachioLemon · 20/09/2009 09:21

Have a brilliant time on your hols arti I'm off to check for someone's name at the beginning of my book... and promise not to peek at the book thread until I've finished.

By the way, how long do I have? I presume we'll be sending them on soon?

aristocat · 20/09/2009 10:42

PistachioLemon the books are posted on the 1st of the month [ so not till Oct 1st].

Glad you're enjoying it

PistachioLemon · 20/09/2009 23:31

Yay, still 10 days left For some reason it's taking me a long time to read this book. Actually, thinking about it, it's because I've only been reading it in the evening and I've been really tired so only a teeny bit at a time. Must find more reading time.

Maria2007 · 22/09/2009 16:49

I'm loving my book too. Haven't got too far though yet, because I was reading something else (Outliers, by Malcolm something, so so)... but I'm sure I'll be able to finish my book by posting-day because it's short () & also because I love it.

PistachioLemon thrilled to hear you're loving your first book in M & M (especially as I hear it's my book ). Still have my doubts about it, so it's good to know.

muddleduck · 22/09/2009 22:24

I've finished my book and few days ago and am just waiting for some vaguely coherent thoughts to come along before I post on the book's thread. This is what I like about book clubs, it forces me to think about a book after I've finished it and for the second time in this book club I already like it better than I did when I first finished it IYKWIM.

Itsjustafleshwound · 23/09/2009 12:11

The idea of putting my feet up and ignoring the 2yo not really going to plan ... loving the book though!!

LolaLadybird · 23/09/2009 23:04

If you find a successful method of ignoring a 2yo and getting some reading done you could patent it and make a fortune ... but be sure to share it with us first!!

Itsjustafleshwound · 24/09/2009 18:21

Our house bears the scars of an almost ignored 2yo - not recommended at all!

Can I post your Oct choc and book early - I am braving the Post office tomorrow???

whinegums · 24/09/2009 20:52

Just checking in. Haven't had too much time for reading as I started my new job this week - first time back at work since I went on mat leave 16 months ago. So a bit of a shock to the system!

Dysgu · 24/09/2009 21:12

Hello all - just read the last month's worth of posts to catch up. All you people getting 'excited' about kids going back to school - I went back to school at the beginning of the month too after my 9 months of maternity leave. I thin that is why it is taking m so long to get through my curent book flying monkey's choice.

It seemed slow going but now I have got a bit further in I am somewhat hooked.

Must go and add my comments about Maria's book too. Is still one that goes round and round in my head...

MrsMuddle · 24/09/2009 21:51

Hi folks - I'm not going to finish my book this month (Dysgu's choice). Life got in the way - busy at work, DH away during the week, leaking roof and now, to cap it all, a dental abscess. I have ordered it out the library though, so I will read it eventually and post when I've done so.

stickylittlefingers · 26/09/2009 23:35

oh, it's getting near book posting time again - hooray! Tho I've been going a bit mad on Amazon just recently so there are plenty of books thudding on the door mat, they never send me accompanying chocolate... it's not the same.

This month's flashed by for me. I did the great north run last Sunday, so til then my life was all leading up to that, and it came up very quickly. Now I've done it, my life is all leading up to the next book and chocolate delivery!

artifarti · 27/09/2009 09:31

Hello everyone! I'm back from my holiday in need of another holiday! Why-oh-why did I think it would be remotely relaxing with a one-year-old in tow?! Especially one that starts projectile vomiting for the first time ever three hours after arriving? [sigh]

The good news is that I took muddleduck's book and in the precious few moments I had to relax I flew threw it, as it was great. Will try to formulate some coherent thoughts for the thread later.

Hope you're all well and sorting through your jiffy bags ready for Thursday

aristocat · 27/09/2009 11:09

Wow slf the Great North Run well done you......
Welcome back arti, looking forward to the next book too

artifarti · 28/09/2009 14:07

Have posted about muddleduck's book.

(slf - also v impressed with the Great North Run!)

aristocat · 28/09/2009 16:44

Dysgu have posted your book today.

Apologies for it being a few days early but i needed the post office and didn't fancy queuing twice in one week .

They have nearly all closed down around here and those that are left are always soooooooo busy.

Maria2007 · 28/09/2009 21:49

Artifarti, welcome back! Really sorry to hear about the projectile vomiting... Sigh. Yes I know about holidays with 1 year olds.... they're 'holidays' only in name .

Glad to hear you loved Muddleduck's book. I loved it too! Off to read your comments on that thread.

Dysgu · 30/09/2009 19:23

Thanks arti - book and chocolate arrived today. What a nice package to find on the mat when I get home from work.

I do not think I am going to finish my current book - even though I am now moving through it more quickly than I was! I think it is Flyingmonkey's choice and will post on the thread. Perhaps I will get it from the library to finish it as I do want to post tomorrow. Would hate for pistachioLemon to have to wait for what is only her second book.

I don't think it is so much the choice of book as the fact that I have now gone back to work after 9 months on maternity leave.
On top of that, my child minder (who had had DD1 4 or 5 days a week for the past 2.5 years) closed a fortnight ago so I have had to sort new arrangements for both girls.

Still, hopefully things will reach a state of semi-organisation and I will be able to read a bit more.

PistachioLemon · 30/09/2009 21:02

Should I be posting my book to someone tomorrow?

artifarti · 30/09/2009 21:08

Oh heck, did I not send you details...eeek, will work it out and email you now...

You have to send chocolate too. Not more than £2 cost is the rules!

OP posts:
artifarti · 30/09/2009 21:18

'Tis emailed - you are posting to whinegums.

Everyone else okay for tomorrow? We have an endless, tedious postal strike here, so who knows what will happen but aristocat I think the post office is still functioning so you should get the book/choc.

OP posts:
PistachioLemon · 30/09/2009 22:12

Yay, got it, thank you.
Will pop it in the post tomorrow.

Can't wait to get my next book

aristocat · 30/09/2009 22:27

dysgu glad your choccy book arrived safely.
speak to you all soon

pooter · 01/10/2009 10:09

itsjusta i got your book and choccy a few days ago - I really like the look of the book. Choccy is no longer with us

muddleduck am posting yours today. Just going to post my review.

There is a new Terry Pratchet book out though, so i NEED to read that before i can do anything else. [saddo emoticon]
