I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

aristocat - you will be livin' the dream!

I'm off on a hen weekend to the spa at Bath tomorrow and can't wait - to read a book on the train! to sleep alone in a room without fear of being woken! to brush my hair and put on some make-up! yipppeeeeee!

Have a good weekend everyone.

Good morning. Just a quick note to say my book and chocolate have arrived. Hurrah!

LadyBee · 05/09/2009 18:41

oooh sorry sorry, I did mean to get on here and let you know I'd posted it. I'm useless, sorry again, just crazy busy at work preparing for launch of new techy thing and my wedding which takes over nights.

But...am I being punished? I haven't received my book or chocolate yet

LadyBee · 05/09/2009 18:46

Have just scanned thread, Muddleduck - don't worry, just get it to me as soon as you get the chance...there, I don't feel so bad. I did post it on the 2nd, 1st class so am a bit annoyed it took so long to reach you FlyingMonkey bloody royal mail grr.

FlyingMonkey · 05/09/2009 21:31

No worries, Ladybee. Things usually take a day or two longer to wend their way over to Ireland!

And you must certainly concentrate on arranging your wedding and definitely not on getting books & chocolate to me! When are you getting married?

MrsMuddle · 05/09/2009 22:17

whinegums yes, I am in the wettest place in the world Glasgow. Live north of the city and work in the city centre. I bought a waterproof jacket today! Fed up getting my umbrella arm soaked through. Is it a sign of middle age that I'd rather be dry than look good?

LadyBee · 07/09/2009 23:59

I'm getting married in 4 weeks. AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Can you tell I'm having a wee bit of a panic?

It seems like a few short weeks ago it was 'oh, two months away', then 'six weeks, plenty of time'...now it's Holy Shit, we fly out in 3 weeks

BTW I got a card from royal mail today saying the package is too big for my letterbox - I hope that means it's an enormous block of a chocolate alongside a teeny-weeny book . I'll arrange delivery for Wednesday, my day at home - how exciting. I wonder what it will be....

artifarti · 08/09/2009 07:34

Oooh, how exciting LadyBee! Where are you getting married then - somewhere foreign and lovely?

We are all recovering from gastroenteritis. It's not been the best of weekends.

muddleduck · 08/09/2009 09:47

LadyBee - did the book arrive ok?

I have mine from Pooter, and I'm very about it. how dare you introduce me to the most delicious chocolate ever made just as I'm trying to lose some weigh. Most inconsiderate of you.

Itsjustafleshwound · 08/09/2009 10:36

Good luck with the wedding Ladybee !

Chocolate almost gone, DD has finally started school and I can do the usual neglectful mummy thing and do some reading ...

Thanks for the card Lola - the last book for me was a bit of a struggle and it didn't help that the only reading time I had was after a long day of firefighting looking after the 'locusts' ..

LadyBee · 08/09/2009 20:12

We're getting married in New Zealand which is where we're from - I'm ignoring the whole flight thing, I can't bear to think about the 28hrs with a nearly 18 mo. At least this time I'll have DP to share the torture entertainment.

I won't get my book until Saturday as Royal Mail are striking on Thursday and they wouldn't redeliver it for tomorrow (my two 'at home' days). Am very curious!

aristocat · 09/09/2009 13:52

good luck LadyBee with the wedding.

have read my book and posted on the relevant thread, looking forward to the next one.
happy reading everyone !

FlyingMonkey · 09/09/2009 14:54

Congratulations and good luck, LadyBee!

I am really struggling with my book this month .

pooter · 15/09/2009 13:53

oh no flying monkey - its my book you are struggling with. Im sorry! I can promise that your next one will be full events and emotion, where mine is definitely lacking.

aristocat · 15/09/2009 16:34

A friend gave me Beyond Evil about Ian Huntley / Maxine Carr and i have just finished it.
Not my usual sort of book but OMG he is the most despicable person for killing those pretty girls.
Has anyone read it?

I really do prefer fiction to the real killers

Itsjustafleshwound · 15/09/2009 18:24

I think it is my book that FM is strggling with ....

pooter · 15/09/2009 18:28

ooh, you are right itsjusta phew!

now i thought she would like yours!

FlyingMonkey · 15/09/2009 20:55

Yes, the book is IJAFW's. I hadn't read that much when I wrote the previous comment but am now about 200 pages in and am gripped!!! I think the turning point was the Callenwolde episode (hope that doesn't make me sound sick/dark/weird!). I would probably be enjoying it more if I could get Barbara Streisand out of my head

LolaLadybird · 15/09/2009 21:32

OK, so who's intrigued about IJAFW's book and the Callenwolde/Barbara Streisand references ....?! Am so tempted to go and have a peek at that book thread!

aristocat · 15/09/2009 21:38

me me me .....
Lola dont look at the thread

You will get reported to the Headmistress artifarti

artifarti · 15/09/2009 21:48

What's this?! What's this?! Illegal thread-peering?! Ladies - you have let Mumsnet down, you have let Mice and Maltesers down but most of all you have let yourselves down [peers sternly over spectacles]

Haven't started FlyingMonkey's book yet. I am saving it for my hols next week, hurrah! The only problem is I am also taking my one-year old DS...I suspect my days of lounging by the pool, book in one hand and cocktail in the other are long gone...more likely soggy rice cakes in one hand and ITNG stickers in the other...[sigh]

[Thanks for the holiday tips whinegums!]

arti has DS settled well at CM whilst you are working?

PMSL at your post

artifarti · 16/09/2009 07:10

He has settled in very well, thanks aristocat. He has a large collection of little girlfriends and by all account spends all day dancing, stuffing his face and giving everyone sloppy kisses!

(BTW, couldn't possibly read a book about Huntley/Carr - since having DS anything nasty about children turns me into a wibbling wreck.)

OP posts:
aristocat · 16/09/2009 13:32

arti it has left me traumatised
i keep looking at DCs and thinking those girls weren't much older than mine

see you're still an early riser - have a great holiday !

PistachioLemon · 17/09/2009 21:11

Evening all. Just wanted to say I'm absolutely loving my book (not sure whose it was to begin with) :D Needless to say, the chocolate lasted about two minutes... although in my defence, DH nicked half of it while I wasn't on guard. I'm also trying to lose a few pounds so it was a real treat. Thank you Dygsu. LadyBee congratulations - not long to go now until the wedding. It sounds like it'll be a brilliant occasion. Will your honeymoon also be in NZ?
