I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

[ Arti sits back and waits for the flood of recruits, hoping that she doesn't end up looking like a no-mates...]

Artifarti: thinking of you now that you've returned to work . Think that it went quite well though, no? The crying & missing him is inevitable... but will soon be SO much better!!

.

aristocat · 10/08/2009 22:01

5.20 OMG

what time is that?

Maria2007 · 11/08/2009 15:14

5.20.... . God, and having to go to work a few days later....

Having said that, my own DS woke today- completely awake for the day- at 5.40 am . And he's been waking earlier & earlier recently.... . For us 5.40 is a bit of a record but the way things are going I think artifarti that I may have to join you in the early morning thread (hopefully not but lets see!)

artifarti · 11/08/2009 19:57

Haha, you get pretty used to it after five months! Sleep is for the weak.

OP posts:
Maria2007 · 12/08/2009 15:55

well I'm very VERY weak as I can't function with under 8 hrs of sleep per day. I know lots of people manage just fine on 6 hrs, wish I could!

artifarti · 12/08/2009 22:16

8 hours! I will hold a street party the night when I finally get 8 hours of sleep!

OP posts:
whinegums · 13/08/2009 15:46

Hi - sleep is indeed for the weak. Arti, I gave up on the sleeping through thread, just as I have all but given up on sleeping through. DS is now 13.5 mos, and the least he has ever woken up in one night is twice. I go back to work, in a new job, full time next month.

Anyhoo, hopefully Stickylittlefingers has the book by now, or it's certainly on its way. Poshwellies, no sign of the next one yet though?

whinegums · 16/08/2009 10:15

All gone very quiet here... (just getting this back on my threads). Poshwellies, if you're around, I still haven't had the next book - has it gone astray?

stickylittlefingers · 16/08/2009 21:20

hi hallo sorry I disappeared off on holiday (jeez it's cold here!) so I only just got the book anyway, so absolutely no worries about timing. Was lovely to find a nice envelope in amongst all the nasty bills that inevitably gather to remind you how you didn't want to come home anyway!

whinegums · 18/08/2009 18:08

Glad you've got it stickylittlefingers. No sign of mine yet . Poshwellies, are you around? Is everything ok? Arti, if you're reading this, do you think you could drop PW a wee reminder email please? Ta!

artifarti · 18/08/2009 19:37

whinegums - will drop her a gentle email to see if all is okay and let you know.

aristocat it is your lucky day year! I have returned to work to find they have opened a Hotel Chocolat opposite my office! Obviously I wouldn't normally go near the place but forced myself in there at lunchtime in the name of research. You had better be nice to me...

OP posts:
artifarti · 18/08/2009 19:53

Okey-doke, have checked email account and unfortunately things are a bit hectic for poshwellies at the moment and she's going to have to bow out. I have said we'd be happy to have her back if things change.

whinegums - posh had lost your details so I forwarded them again and she will send the book onto you and also this month's which she doesn't have time to read.

I have asked her what she would like us to do about her book which is currently in circulation and will wait to hear back from her.

My brain is mush today and I have to cook dinner now but I will sort out who needs what details and where all the books need to be and get us all back on track ready for the 1st of September.

whinegums · 18/08/2009 21:06

Cheers arti. Oh well. I'll never be able to read two books in two weeks' time, but will do my best! I think it means that Dysgu posts to me in future, and everything else stays as was. Hope everything is going ok for you being back at work - I start a new job (made redundant on mat leave, but all worked out for the best) next month. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm a bit apprehensive!

aristocat · 18/08/2009 22:38

arti shall i just call you "ma'am"

oh dear, shame poshwellies is leaving us

i am going on hols to wales with DCs and DH on friday but we return on the 28th, so i will be posting to Dysgu on time. speak to you all soon

artifarti · 19/08/2009 07:29

Yes, aristocat, and curtsy, please.

Work is good thanks, whinegums. Only 3 days a week but I am double-knackered! DS has now started giving big wet sloppy kisses to his CM and her extended family so I guess that means he's settling in okay! (the little traitor!)

Brain still a bit bleurgh this morning but posh says we can keep the book in circulation if we want to...so our options are:

  1. Take the book out of circulation so that there are still 12 of us and 12 books.

  2. Keep the book in circulation so that there are 12 of us and 13 books (a bit confoosing?)

  3. I noticed there is a lost soul looking to start a book swap but no-one's interested and I feel a bit sorry for her, so we could invite her to join, keep posh book in circulation, 12 books and 12 people.

Anyone have strong feelings - or a better idea?

OP posts:
stickylittlefingers · 19/08/2009 17:30

Option 3 would seem to be the greatest happiness for the greatest number?

I hope Posh is OK - I did enjoy the book!

MrsMuddle · 19/08/2009 21:47

Hello ladies

I have Poshwellie's book here at the moment, but I'd already read it so it's in the envelope ready to go to lolaladybird at the start of September.

Let me know if you want me to change the name in it, or if it would be less confusing to keep it as it is.

I'm really enjoying this swap, and can't wait to get my next book.

artifarti · 20/08/2009 09:21

Okay, I will ask the lonely book swapper if she wants in (as long as she doesn't mind not putting a book into the mix until we have finished all of this lot). If she doesn't reply, we had probably better take posh's book out, or it will get confusing...

OP posts:
aristocat · 20/08/2009 10:17

yes arti saw her thread too and shes had no responses

ask her if she wants to join us

artifarti · 20/08/2009 10:19

Okay, we are to be joined by PistachioLemon - be nice to her everyone and no ignoring her in the dinner queue.

She will email her details and then I will sort it all out over the next few days.

OP posts:
aristocat · 20/08/2009 10:22

wow arti - see that shes already interested
you're a fast cat

welcome PistachioLemon loving your name BTW

artifarti · 20/08/2009 10:26

I am loving the name too, although it is making me think of pistachio ice cream, which I happen to know they serve in the cafe in our local park...I might have to take the boy for a walk methinks...

OP posts:
PistachioLemon · 20/08/2009 13:30

Hello there ladies - sorry I've just read the last couple of pages (will try to catch up when I've time) so forgive me if I keep asking silly questions.

Anyhow, I'm very pleased to fill in while poshwellies is away. artifarti I've sent you my details - have you got everything you need. I am ridiculously excited about receiving my first book (and chocolate, that's what made me decide so quickly, of course).

PS The name was inspired by Nigel Slater's lemon drizzled pistachio cake which I made the day I joined. Twas yummy.

whinegums · 20/08/2009 14:26

Arti, that all sounds great, hello PistachioLemon!

Don't want to cause any hassle, and you might already have this sorted Arti, but I wonder if the easiest thing to do is to get Poshwellies to send me the book from this month (Aug) and the other one to PistachioLemon? I still haven't received anything, so maybe she hasn't posted them yet. I think that would sort things out nicely?

Stickylittlefingers, I'm going to apologise in advance for being late again next month, as I doubt I'll get the book read by the time I get it. Unless it's one I've already read!

Ok, will stop wittering on now, hope everyone is good.

artifarti · 20/08/2009 16:41

Okay, just sorting all this out. I think this where we're at.

artifarti (has LadyBee's book)
aristocat (has FlyingMonkey's book)
Dysgu (has Maria2007's book)
poshwellies (has artifarti and aristocat's books)
whinegums (has no books )
stickylittlefingers (has dysgu's book)
MrsMuddle (has poshwellies' book)
LolaLadybird (has whinegums' book)
Itsjustafleshwound (has stickylittlefingers' book)
pooter (has mrsmuddle's book)
muddleduck (has lolaladybird's book)
LadyBee (has itsjustafleshwound's book)
FlyingMonkey (has pooter's book)
Maria2007 (has muddleduck's book)

I will email poshwellies and see if she's posted yet. If not, I will suggest she posts artifarti's book to pistachiolemon and aristocat's book to whinegums. (I think she has a lot on her plate so will suggest she skips the choc if that makes it easier - sorry whinegums and pistachio!) If she's already posted both to whinegum's...I'll think again...!
