I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

POSTING DAY!!!

Thanks, Maria. aristocat - posted yours yesterday.

Stickylittlefingers, I hope you don't mind I'm going to be a bit late (again ). I really want to finish the book, so I'm going to do my best to crack on with it over the weekend and get it to you early next week. Let me know if it's a problem though.

aristocat · 01/08/2009 12:42

arti book and chocolate arrived this morning !

thankyou, going to try and start book today.
have actually heard alot about this one - looking forward to it very much

LolaLadybird · 01/08/2009 22:22

MrsMuddle - book & choc arrived yesterday, thank you.

Itsjusta - posted yours today so hopefully with you on Monday.

Started Whinegums' book last night. Wasn't sure about it when I first opened the package and read the blurb but then had a sneaky look at the thread & it was all so positive I got cracking last night - so far so good!

MrsMuddle · 02/08/2009 19:56

lolaladybird glad you got it and hope you like the chocolate.

I'm feeling a bit left out this month. I rushed through my book for my RL book group, so I could read the one for here, but it was one I'd already read. I can't believe how disappointed I was! Hope I've not read next month's.

Itsjustafleshwound · 03/08/2009 12:39

lolaladybird book and choccie arrived today - thankyou! DD already eyeing up mummy's choccie ...

poshwellies · 04/08/2009 11:46

I recieved Artifarti's book-many thanks Dysgu. Will send last months book whinegums, within the next few days.

Maria2007 · 04/08/2009 17:29

Yesterday I received FlyingMonkey's package. Thanks FlyingMonkeys- in particular THANKS for the TWO bars of lovely chocolate!!! Two?! How could I get so lucky??

(Having said that, I'm on a strict diet for the last month, trying to lose the last of my baby weight, and I expect to be on it for a while longer... which means my DP now is getting the benefits of the 'maltesers' bit of the Mice & Maltesers book swap club . He even said he has particular requests about taste, likes & dislikes etc... .

Muddleduck, it's your book I've got this month. I really really have loved it so far. Started reading it this morning & am already on page 80. Was a book I'd been meaning to read for a while, thanks for a great choice

artifarti · 05/08/2009 10:30

Maria - you are very good to your DP! I would hoard it all for the future, haha...

I was taking a bit of a chance with my book, as I hadn't read it since I was 17 and even then I 'studied' it. But I bought a copy from a charity shop the other week and so have just re-read it. Have posted my thoughts on my thread.

Has everyone got their book this month (or knows that it is on the way?) Hope so.

muddleduck i managed to get to the post office today so your book and choccy are on their way - many apologies for the lateness.

i thought i was being ingenious in buying some nice choccy that i didnt actually like (dark - yuk) so i wouldnt eat it and it would be ready for posting, but i didnt reckon on DHs powers for sniffing out and scoffing choccy!

muddleduck · 05/08/2009 12:28

Hi Pooter.
thanks for the update - we've just got back from a long weekend with the ILs and the house is a shambles so it's prob a good thing that I don't have the book to disctract me yet.
(ps I lurve dark chocolate )

Maria2007 - glad you're enjoying it.

pooter · 05/08/2009 17:07

muddleduck i also forgot to put a note in the parcel - im sure you wont be confused when you recieve a book and choccy through the post, but it still feels a bit rude - sorry! (im sure you wont be sitting there thinking, hmm, a book and chocolate, i wonder who this is from?!!) I was in a fluster with DS demanding kinder eggs. Also i'm afraid DH ate your dark choc, so you have milk on the way - but i will bear it in mind for next month!

aristocat · 05/08/2009 19:01

is it wrong of me to wish kids were back at school so i could get more reading done

i have got Flying Monkey book at the moment and although its very good - i am unable to give it my full attention.
i love to read for 2/3 hours or more in one go and escape.

perhaps if i spent less time MNing i could read more

LadyBee · 05/08/2009 21:06

FlyingMonkey I'm soooo sorry I was so late posting this month, but it went in the post today so hopefully you should have it tomorrow or day after.

And to everyone else I just have to apologise for the complete radio silence this month. I have no idea what happened but will try much harder this month.

I really enjoyed last month's book...oh no, I've forgotten whose it was..I will try to trace back. This month's one is completely different and yet again, I'm really pleased to say it's not one I've read myself (thanks Muddleduck, by the way I appreciated last month's chocolate choice just as much as this months, but was forced to share much more..this month I can spirit it away more easily )

So far I'm finding the variety of choices really extraodinary. I'm so pleased we're doing this!

Maria2007 · 05/08/2009 21:22

Ladybee: yes I'm enjoying it very much too!! Whoever thought of book swap clubs was a genius. It's really nice to receive a nice packet at the beginning of each month with a book in it!

Aristocat: I too loooooove to read for 2-3 hours at a time & escape. Not very likely with a 1 year old.

muddleduck · 06/08/2009 08:51

Hi LadyBee
Glad it arrived ok.
You'll need a bit more reading time this month!

whinegums · 08/08/2009 12:21

Hi, again an apology to Stickylittlefingers that I haven't finished or sent the book yet . I am going to finish it today and will get it in the post asap. Poshwellies, I don't know if you've posted to me yet, but no sign of the next book. Don't worry if not though, as I won't be able to start it til next week (and I have two other half read books on the go already).

I'm not normally this bad, just have no time! I'm looking forward to going back to work so I can read on the bus and listen to my iPod!

Maria2007 · 10/08/2009 09:31

Hi, just wanted to wave hello to everyone, and also to say that I'm almost finished with Muddleduck's book which I LOVE. Thanks again Muddleduck for choosing it, I've read it very quickly & think it's really impressive (particularly the way it describes the main topic). Won't go into too many details here, will write on the relevant thread.

aristocat · 10/08/2009 10:48

[waves back to Maria]

hi, just about to post on book thread too

aristocat · 10/08/2009 11:18

well.....have finished FlyingMonkeys book and what a good one it was too !

have posted on the other thread so happy reading to everyone

[stayed up till 3am reading itthe other night because havn't been able to curl up on sofa as i usually do with DCs here]

artifarti · 10/08/2009 19:48

Have finished LadyBee's book and posted a big long message on the relevant thread yesterday - then my laptop crashed and lost everything.

Just back from first day back at work and must find wine so not sure I have the energy to write it all out again...will take a deep breath and try...

OP posts:
aristocat · 10/08/2009 20:12

ooh arti

how was work?
did you a)miss DS terribly b)cry or c)phone CM every 30 mins?

artifarti · 10/08/2009 20:25

aristocat - it was surprisingly okay-ish, thanks, and in answer to your questions:

a) Yes!
b) Yes!
c) No, I was very restrained and only phoned her once!

DS had a mostly good day even though he's teething - I think I cried more than him! At least now I get to read books on the tube.

OP posts:
aristocat · 10/08/2009 20:34

hope you realise i was half joking

is your DS 1yo yet? saw you had posted on an early riser thread previously.... is that still happening.

[whispers] was the book a good one?

artifarti · 10/08/2009 21:19

He is 1yo in a couple of weeks' time [can't believe it emoticon]. And yes, he is still rising early - 5.20 this morning! I am holding out for the dark wintery mornings.

Re: the book. I couldn't possible say.
