I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

Nothing in the post today but I was out when the postie delivered, so mine might be at the sorting office.

LadyBee · 02/06/2009 23:37

ooohhhhhhhh. I want my book! Right. I'm definitely NOT going out tomorrow, it's my day off work and I'm sitting in til the postie comes.

poshwellies · 02/06/2009 23:48

I'm sending mine out tomorrow whinegums,so it won't be long-hopefully the chocolate wont arrive bashed and melted.

muddleduck · 03/06/2009 08:29

LadyBee
Sorry it hasn't arrived yet.
Fingers crossed for today.

whinegums · 03/06/2009 09:50

Cool poshwellies, I'm glad it's not at the sorting office, it's miles away, there's nowhere to park, and it appears to have been designed to be totally inaccessible to buggy pushers/wheelchairs! So no worries there at all x

FlyingMonkey · 03/06/2009 10:30

Hurrah! My book is here. Going to have a sneaky peek at it now (I'm in the middle of another book so got to finish that first)and crack open the chocolate with a cup of tea. Ain't life grand! Thanks Ladybee, the chocolate is my absolute fave x

Itsjustafleshwound · 03/06/2009 10:42

Hey ho the book club book is here!

itsjustafleshwound Thankyou!! im sat here eating the yummy choccy (v good choice btw) and reading the back page. Im a bit scared but cant wait to get stuck in - ive never heard of it, but thats why i wanted to join one of these clubs!

Dysgu · 03/06/2009 13:55

I have finished it! The book that is - still got 2/3 of the chocolate left.

Both very good!

On another note - I have been checking the thread and have not heard anything from PieceNharmoknee. I sent my book (and chocolate) on Saturday. Hope it arrived.

artifarti · 03/06/2009 14:10

Finished it! I thought I was a quick reader but that wins the prize!

Maria2007 · 03/06/2009 14:29

Artifarti????!!! You finished it? Really? Well this does take the prize yes. Gulp. I hope you liked it?

artifarti · 03/06/2009 16:08

Crikey, no! I haven't even started yours! Dysgu is the speedy reader - see above!

OP posts:
FlyingMonkey · 03/06/2009 16:54

Dysgu, that's some impressive work.

I have finished the chocolate. My only excuse is that I am breastfeeding 6 or 7 times a day!

FlyingMonkey · 03/06/2009 16:56

I feel a bit sick now TBH.

Dysgu · 03/06/2009 17:04

I am not a particularly speedy reader - I read every word. But I started it after the girls went to bed last night, took it in the bath with me (TMI?) and then read the last couple of chapters this morning.

The author is renowned for writing unputdownable (is that a word?) books and this was another one!

Good choice by aristocat.

I just want to know if PieceNharmoKnee got mine?

haven't finished the chocolate yet though!

Itsjustafleshwound · 03/06/2009 17:11

pooter - glad you like the chocolate - hope the book is okay and is up to scratch ...

lolaladybird - I have been meaning to read this book for a while now - goody!! Now to keep the chocolate hidden from all ..

aristocat · 03/06/2009 18:17

dysgu well done for finishing it.
i love the short chapters in this authors books which make it as you say "unputdownable"

you get a star award !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maria2007 · 03/06/2009 19:26

Dysgu, I'm now intrigued as to what book that is... oh well I'm sure I'll find out sooner or later during the year!

artifarti · 03/06/2009 20:32

Maria - in answer to your earlier question, yes, on July 1 we all mail the book we have just received, plus chocolate, to the same person again. And on August 1...and so on. There are fifteen of us so in fifteen months time, if people are still up for it, we can all put a new book in the circle.

FlyingMonkey - I'm with you on the necessity of chocolate for breastfeeding. I'd actually be willing to take part in extensive scientific studies to prove the necessity of chocolate for breastfeeding. Selfless, me.

Itsjustafleshwound - really pleased the book is something you wanted to read anyway. I'm currently waiting for Amazon to deliver a second-hand copy so that I can finish re-reading it in order to have some meaningful discussion. Realised too late in the day that I read it too long ago to recall the detail for purposes of discussion and sadly (despite some marathon reading over the weekend!) had only got to page 243 by Monday morning!!

LadyBee · 03/06/2009 22:48

Muddleduck the book & choc arrived today, hoorah! Great choice, I've read several of this author's but not this one so am really looking forward to it . Also good choc choice. Have managed to hide it away until I finish the book I'm currently reading and launch into yours - looking forward to it!

muddleduck · 04/06/2009 09:45

Hi LadyBee
Phew! I did worry that some of you might have read it. It is by far my favourite of her books - but not very cheerful I'm afraid...

Now I want my book! Am working from home today but no sign of the postman yet.

muddleduck · 04/06/2009 09:48

oh and can you put my mn name in it so that the later readers can find the discussion thread.
ta.

muddleduck · 04/06/2009 10:48

Pooter
It has just arrived. Thank you - looks lovely! And the book looks good too

Now all I have to do is try not to eat the chocolate before I'm allowed to start the book this evening.

pooter · 05/06/2009 02:15

itsjusta i have started a thread about your book because im all excited about it and wanted to thank you for choosing it. It had passed me by and i never even knew about the famous film either!
