Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Dr's advice on waiting to conceive after missed miscarriage

I underwent medical management 2 weeks ago for a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks. I visited the Doctor today, and was advised that I need to wait for at least 1 if not more periods as there is 'an increased risk of miscarriage' if I were to get pregnant again straight away. My Doctor is normally very good, and I would not question her word, but I have not read this anywhere. Is she right? I hope not as the thought of being pregnant again soon is the only thing that is getting me through this!

Hi louisesh,

Sorry to hear your body is still doing strange things! My AF came 31 days after the day of the medical management (counting that as day 1) and I had crampy pains for about a week and a half before hand like it was about to come back anytime. I had brown sort of discharge on day 30 but nothing before that. My period started very light though - nothing like a normal period, and lasted for about 6 days, getting heavier after about 2 days. Maybe your body is building up to a period? Or maybe it's started already just very light?

At least you've had a scan quite recently so you can be fairly sure it's not retained products. (sorry - I hate that terminolgogy but don't know how else to put it.)

ooh- just had a though - have you been TTC since the miscarriage? It couldn't be an implanatation bleed could it? Or am I just woildly guessing now? It's all so confusing and horrid isn't it. And poor you not being able to swim for ages. Horrid, Evil pads.

hi, i have just joined as ive been reading and have gone through this aswell. i was 11wks 4days when i started to clot and went to the er, they told me everything seemed fine as my blood levels were still high. I knew something was wrong so i insisted on o/s and it showed there was a baby but no heart beat. This was very hard as i had heard the heart beat and seen the baby move 2 days earlier. My Question to anyone who can help is how long your hormone levels can stay high enough to give a positive result on a preg test. It has been 5 weeks and i know i o/v about 21/2 wks ago. I did a preg test this morn and got a pos result. Please can anyone help, my gp is away until nxt week and im going to go mad by then waiting.
Thankyou
kylesmumofquin

Yey Louisesh, I'm celebrating for you! Weirdly enough 30 days after medical management I had a positive test still and the next day I had a period. Weird! So maybe your period will pop up before you know it now.

Anyway - I'm glad thingsare getting back to normal for you. How are you feeling emotionally? It's been about 6 weeks now for me altogether and I'm still very up and down.

Hi,

Never written on one of these before but finding things really hard and thought you guys might understand! :( I had a missed miscarriage in early October and found out at our 12 weeks scan. I was absolutely heartbroken but am getting there. I had to have a D&C as 2 rounds of tablets didn't work, the surgeon said everything went ok. I'm so worried about trying again but got everything crossed for us. I had my first period this week and just keep blubbing, any advise would be much appreciated. Hope everyone is doing ok xx

nicky I am so sorry you lost your baby. This is a zombie thread but start another on the board or join in with one of the recent ones to get some support. First AF seems to bring it all back, hopefully once that's done with you'll feel a little better, but give yourself time, it's still early days [flower]

222 I've reported you.

I am so sorry for your loss Thanks

I was told same thing by Dr but miscarriage association said there was no reason not to try again straight away.

I was pregnant 6 weeks after my mc and my DS is 15 weeks old.

I wish you every bit of luck and hope this time next year you'll be cuddling your own LO xx

I am so glad to read good testimonies after a miscarriage. I had a missed miscarriage at 19 weeks (2 weeks ago) but I have not gotten any advice from my doctor (just told not to have intercourse for 4 weeks). There were no complication after I was induced to birth the baby. Is it advisable we ttc after the 4 weeks adviced?
