Think there’s a shadow of a line and need to know to start meds - after many losses

I hope someone can help. I’m convinced there's a shadow of a line. I’ve had many losses and have been prescribed high dose prednisolone, progesterone, aspirin, clexan injection etc. as I have issues with NK cells. Most of my losses have been at a very early stage so it is time sensitive to start the meds; otherwise I’d just wait until I know for sure I’m pregnant. We cannot seem to get a decent pregnancy test. FRERs are nowhere to be found. DH is trying to get a boots 5 days early. I hate all the blue dye ones. Any other decent tests? I think a FRER might arrive from Amazon tomorrow but I’ve heard Amazon FRERs are dodgy. I don’t want to start that type of medication unnecessarily as it’s strong, progesterone messes with my cycle etc. But I’m also worried if I don’t ‘get in there’ early it will be another loss. Thought I saw a tiny shadow of line last night but it didn’t come up on a picture and I’m convinced today’s is noticeable (if you look closely). Any thoughts? What would you do?

Congratulations on your pregnancy. That boots one is definitely a dye stealer!

I had a MMC a few years ago and EPU suggested to come in for a scan at around 7-8 weeks, which is what I did when I was pregnant with DD about 6 months later.

All the best!

Thank you @CoffeeMama89. Good to hear other people's thoughts 😘

Thanks @KeepSmiling89 😍. Interesting that the EPU said to come in between 7-8 weeks. I've not phoned them yet but wonder if that might be a good time for me too. Pregnancy after loss is so scary..

Sorry, I should've said... with my MMC, at the 12 week scan, baby had stopped growing at around the 7 week mark, which is why they suggested coming in at this point.

DancinOnTheCeiling · 31/01/2024 12:24

So sorry to hear that @KeepSmiling89, what a sad experience to have. It sounds like your pregnancy after that was successful since you mention a DD? X

@DancinOnTheCeiling Yes, it was successful (albeit so nerve-wracking after the MMC). My MMC was in October 2020. I found out I was pregnant again in March 2021. DD is 2 now and just started nursery at the end of last year 🙂

DancinOnTheCeiling · 31/01/2024 22:14

I wish there was no such thing as miscarriages, they're just so awful and sad but I'm so glad you've since had your DD @KeepSmiling89 😍

Just another update. Took my last boots test today, and it’s another dye stealer. The control line is lighter than in the previous dye stealer, I’m hoping that means this one is even more of a dye stealer than the previous one, if that’s even a thing? Don’t have any more boots tests and don’t think I’ll buy more. The easy@home one looks like the last one to me but not sure if they maybe stay the same?!? Any thoughts welcome.

I spoke to the EPU, and they’ve booked me in for 8+1. I’m debating whether to book for a private 6 week scan, I keep going back and forth with why it’s a good/not a good idea.. aaah!

I have absolutely everything crossed for you @DancinOnTheCeiling . Try and relax until your scan . Xx

WutheringMights · 04/02/2024 05:26

That's one heck of a dye stealer if ever I've seen one @DancinOnTheCeiling

I don't recall my strip tests ever becoming dye stealers so don't worry about that.

It sounds like you could really do with a reassurance booster before your 8+1 scan so why not book yourself in for a private scan. I was 6+2 for my first scan and I could see the heartbeat - it was a very magical moment.

The only thing to be careful of is feeding the anxiety. I found myself at the private scan clinic 3 times before my 12 week scan. It helped me to get through those initial weeks of early pregnancy though.

Olika · 04/02/2024 06:21

If you think a private scan helps you to stay relaxed then it's worth it. I have seen several threads where people had bad experiences at private scan clinics but mine was amazing. I went there early on and then again at 3.5 months just to make sure all is ok.
Good luck with everything! 🙂💝

Friday will be a magical day for you @DancinOnTheCeiling

The private scans only last around 10 mins but my goodness are they worth it. Cherish every moment!

Thank you @WutheringMights. I really really hope so.

Just posting with an update and think it might be bad news: I started bleeding yesterday which has always been bad news for me.

My scan situation is also a little bit strange. Originally I had a scan booked with the EPU for 8+1 plus a private scan this past Friday at 6+1.

Went to the private scan on Fri (ie two days before I started bleeding), they saw a pregnancy sac and a yolk sac and I measured at 5+4. I was 6+1 according to LMP but was okay with that discrepancy. They scanned me for ages and were confused and actually said they wanted me to see the EPU quite soon (ie not in two weeks but sooner) for a second opinion as they were wondering about the location of the pregnancy. They said the pregnancy didn't seem to be quite in the right location (but was inside the womb apparently), they thought it seemed towards the corner (?!?) of the womb and also wondered if I have a heart shaped uterus. (Consultants have wondered before whether I have a heart shaped uterus but apparently I don’t). They tried calling the EPU on my behalf but couldn’t get through, so I called them myself on Fri and told them all of this, and they were zero concerned about the location.. just said it was good news the pregnancy sac plus yolk sac were in the womb and there was no bleeding (at that point I hadn’t started bleeding yet). They booked me in for this coming Friday at 7+1. (I was originally booked with them for 8+1).

Anyway, my chat with them on Friday was before I started bleeding, so yesterday I started bleeding. Some pink, some red, some brown and a small clot. Since then I have had brown spotting - not a lot but have had it yesterday and today, plus I think it's getting stronger now.. and like I said bleeding in pregnancy has never been anything other than bad news for me. I don't think I'm bleeding enough for the EPU to see me urgently, haven’t even bothered calling them since I started bleeding, and I don't know if there's a point seeing them before this coming Friday anyway because they might see the same as what the private place saw ie the beginning of a pregnancy and tell me to come back anyway, so I think I'm going to wait until Friday (but not holding my breath). So overall I feel quite numb and very anxious and pretty sure it's bad news for me. 😢

@DancinOnTheCeiling sorry to hear things don’t seem straightforward. Good news on the yolk sac and pregnancy sac and I am popping on to give you some hope.

I also had several miscarriages- took us 7 years to have our twins. In my successful pregnancy I bled (lightly) on and off from about week six for several weeks - mostly brown, a little red - and had a successful 37w pregnancy.
I had NK treatments from week 4 ish to week 20 of the pregnancy. Also progesterone I think (was a long time ago now …)

In my successful pregnancy I had a great line progression like you have had. I had never had that before - just faint ones then the bleeding and loss.

It turned out that I had both implantation bleeding and also I had a subchorionic haematoma causing the subsequent bleeding which could be seen on the scans from about week 12.

(I then, 4 years later, had a totally unexpected successful pregnancy with baby #3 with no treatment at all)

All the very best of luck. I hope you get good news this time xxx

ZippyZappyZoo · 12/02/2024 22:18

I’m really sorry to read your update. I hope it is good news for you x

Bumble88 · 12/02/2024 22:29

Oh I am sorry to hear you’re going through this uncertainty. I have had three pregnancies; my first was ectopic where I had light red blood on and off for a week or so, my second was my 3 year old DD and I didn’t have any bleeding at all, my third was my DS who is 6 months now and I had red/brown bleeding at around 5/6 weeks. My point is you just don’t know, bleeding can be normal and still successful. I know exactly how you’re feeling though, and nothing but that scan will help you deal with this. Stay strong and I so hope for good news for you xx

SwordToFlamethrower · 12/02/2024 22:45

I see it! Get a digi!

CoffeeMama89 · 12/02/2024 23:18

I’m so sorry you are dealing with all this, I’m keeping everything crossed for you. A few days off can be down to implantation so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Best of luck for Friday! Sending a hand hold!! Xx

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 13/02/2024 06:20

I have a heart shaped uterus (bicornuate). They also scanned me and were concerned my baby had implanted in the corner and they worried it was ectopic. I was scanned at hospital and thats when they found the uterus deformity. I hope it all works out for you. Mine wasn’t ectopic in the end but she was born at 29 weeks healthy. I bled throughout the entire pregnancy.

BrutusMcDogface · 13/02/2024 06:31

Everything crossed for you, @DancinOnTheCeiling 💐
