Thanks.

I'm 54 and they have been stopping and starting for 2 years. Missed some months, had some light ones, had some normal ones, missed some again. When they stop I have hot flushes. If the hot flushes stop then I know to expect a period! I think the last period was 6 months ago now.

SoupDragon · 03/11/2024 23:15

Yes. I'm really pissed off about it.

My mother was 58 when hers stopped so I guess that's what I have to look forward to.

unsync · 03/11/2024 23:20

56 here, got another two months before I get to my full year. Last time I managed 355 days. 🤬 I'm hoping this is finally it.

According to the gynae consultant I saw, it's not uncommon for your ovaries to "have a last hurrah". I wish they bloody wouldn't, enough is enough, it's been more than forty years, time to give up.

EatingRipeCamembert · 03/11/2024 23:39

LonelyInDville · 03/11/2024 23:45

I was very late to stop as well. I recall having terrible trouble when I was 57, to the extent that I was considering requesting an ablation.

  1. They've got more erratic but it's been less than six weeks since the last one. I know my mum went on for a long time and we both hit menarche late too.
TheFormidableMrsC · 04/11/2024 00:11

I suspect I would be if I wasn't on tamoxifen post breast cancer, I get all the symptoms every month. I'm 55.

babbi · 04/11/2024 00:13

Yip 56 .. just skipped one so I live in hope that the end is in sight .
No menopause symptoms at all though 🤷‍♀️

OnionBudgie · 04/11/2024 12:20

I'm 54, and last period was in July so hopefully nearing the end of it all now. I was beginning to think I'd never get there!

JudyJulie · 04/11/2024 12:30

I was 58 when I had my last period. Every long haul - 45 years except for 2 pregnancies.

LastNightMyPJsSavedMyLife · 04/11/2024 12:33

56 and still going strong fgs

twilightcafe · 04/11/2024 12:35
  1. Still going although my cycle has stretched to 6 weeks.
NeedToKnow101 · 04/11/2024 12:37

Yes, at 54.

DeclineandFall · 04/11/2024 12:39

Nearly 56 and still going. Mother was 60 when she stopped. Grandmother similar. FFS. Every time my period arrives I hope its my last.

GiraffeTree · 04/11/2024 12:39

I'm 50 and my periods are still regular. My mum had them until 54.

tribpot · 04/11/2024 12:41

Yep, 52 and currently at 135 days since my last one started - a personal record. 355 is brutal @unsync

AutumnalNamechange · 04/11/2024 13:13

53 and still as regular as clockwork 😡

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/11/2024 13:26

I had a mirena coil put in at 55, was still going strong at that point. (A bit too strong - was anaemic and diagnosed with adenomyosis...!)

Lots of talk about early menopause. I didn't realise that I'd be waiting forever for mine!

caringcarer · 04/11/2024 13:38

I didn't stop until 56. My poor Mum stopped at 55 after 3 years she started to menstruate again. She was really worried because she thought she'd been through menopause and thought bleeding could be cancer. Consultant told her she'd carry on menstruating until all her eggs were gone. She finally stopped at 61.

Doggymummar · 04/11/2024 13:54

Yes, im55

Juliefaith · 05/11/2024 20:00

Thank you all 😉. I'm 53. I had no bleed last month, but my period came with a vengeance yesterday. Gosh we should create the 50s club and chitchat...
Also with all kinds of symptoms never heard of and going in and out to the doctors just to check I'm not going mad. 😞

I am 52 and still having periods, although last month was very light spotting that seemed to continue on & off for weeks

Garlicpest · 05/11/2024 20:03

Had my last one at 62. First hot flush at 50. I'd say it was the world's longest menopause, but my mum's was also 12 years.
