As the title suggests really.

I was 49 and have been told that's quite young? Didn't start early, I was 14.

I am 58, been on HRT for 2 1/2 years. Completely regular beforehand, somewhat erratic recently. Am going to have a break this summer to see what's going on!

DramaAlpaca · 04/06/2024 13:56

46, when I got a Mirena coil to try to fix them. Mine had been like clockwork until I hit peri at 44 and they became erratic and heavy. It worked, never had another one. The Mirena came out at 53 and I kept my fingers crossed for a while but that was it.

60 😱

Was that on HRT or 'natural'?

For some reason, although I'm fairly relaxed about having periods in my 50s, and like a PP assume there will be some health benefits (my Mum seems young for her age at 77 after her late menopause), the idea of having periods at 60 seems much worse!

JenniferBooth · 04/06/2024 14:03

49 but that could be because the mini pill stopped them. Im 51 this month
I started mine at 11 No kids and not been pregnant

ByTheSea · 04/06/2024 14:20

Natural. I really started to believe I was a freak of nature and would just carry on having periods all my life! I was about to have an endometrial ablation when they finally stopped of their own accord. I was 3 months off my 61st birthday!
No idea why they went on so long. My mother finished at a "normal" age. I started at 13.

I'm about to turn 42 and getting one fitted this summer for chaotic heaviness which has started in the last 12 months so this is great news!

I had everything checked as part of my plan when I had my second baby, as we tried for him for 5 years.

That's brilliant! Great that you have drs who know what to do.

@FriedSprout Not sure how old you are now but are you aware of the health risks of very early menopause? You'd fall into the premature menopause group. Has your GP supported you?

MillyMollyBlue · 04/06/2024 16:08

  1. This is why it always drives me crazy when people say there is no rush to have children in their 30s.
Bjorkdidit · 04/06/2024 16:17

48 and 11 months, which is nearly 2 years ago now so I'm fairly confident that's it now.

Prior to that I'd had a couple of years of huge irregularity with intervals as short as 20 days or as long as 4/5 months. Also big variation in flow from almost nothing to a couple of massive floods.

LBFseBrom · 04/06/2024 16:19

51.5

Invent · 04/06/2024 16:22

Started at 11 ended at 50 very suddenly .
Mine were light and regular then had two years of regular but torrential bleeds.

Since then I have have got terrible joint pain, can't sleep and my skin has gone crepey. Literally aged overnight.

Menomeno · 04/06/2024 16:23

I was 45

TerfTalking · 04/06/2024 16:26

Last at 53, not many during year 52, first at 12.

Bloom15 · 04/06/2024 16:30

I am 43 and can't wait for them to stop. I was on the pill for years but DH had a vasectomy.

They are heavier than they ever were - I am definitely perimenopausal

roseberrycherry · 04/06/2024 16:36

34 (I have POI)

CrepuscularCritter · 04/06/2024 16:36
  1. No GP support, although I am now getting some help due to osteoporosis.
fridaynight1 · 04/06/2024 16:43

I was 37
Periods literally just stopped and that was that. Menopause confirmed by hospital consultant after blood tests. No symptoms whatsoever. And no more periods 😁

No doctor ever suggested HRT. I'm 60 now so it's probably a bit late.

I couldn't agree more. I was 37.

Meadowfinch · 04/06/2024 16:51

Started at 16, had ds at 45, stopped at 55.

Quite a relief when they finally stopped.

Ilovemyshed · 04/06/2024 16:51

54 and still going after 41 years 😡
