As the title suggests really.

I was 49 and have been told that's quite young? Didn't start early, I was 14.

My mum was 50. I’m 47 and hoping I’ll follow her. I can’t take much more of my heavy, horrible periods.

Jaq27 · 04/06/2024 18:42

I went on HRT age 47 because of horrible perimenopause.
I was having about 3-4 periods a year.

Hormone tests showed I was far into approaching menopause so reckon they’d have stopped late 40s.

Allenetall · 04/06/2024 18:45

55 the last few years were horrible, heavy, clotty miserable.

DeclineandFall · 04/06/2024 18:55

My Mum was 60 and at 55 I'm still going strong. She'd always told me she was 55 but when I was approaching that age she admitted she was 60. Said she didn't want to scare me. Said my granny was similar. FS. I'm praying I'm out soon, I've had enough. I started at 11.

MyFirstLittlePony · 04/06/2024 18:59

I’ve heard people who start early end later!

I started late (14) but still going t 52 but seems to be fizzling out a bit

LemonCitron · 04/06/2024 18:59

I'm 50 and still having regular periods. My mum was 54 when hers stopped.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/06/2024 19:04

My last one started just before my 57th birthday. I started them aged 12 and have had 2 dc.

I still carry a pad and tampon in my bag as I've heard of a random.period happening months after you think you've finished them, but it's over a year now so hoping I'm safe.

My best friend is 55 and still has periods like clockwork.

Wellfuckmesideways · 04/06/2024 19:08

51 here and apart from a couple of missed ones, and changes in cycle length, no sign of them stopping - I am so ready for them to stop.

Movinghouseatlast · 04/06/2024 19:41

I stopped at 52. Started at 10.

My friend is 58 and still has regular as clockwork periods.

maddiemookins16mum · 04/06/2024 21:25

I was 58!……… so suffered 44 long, painful years of periods. What a relief that’s over.

I did once mention it to my Dr when I hit 56 and was still as regular as clockwork and he did say it can be that obese women (I was) can have a delayed menopause, hence having periods for longer.

SpirallingMum · 05/06/2024 16:33

Periods stopped out of the blue age 42 (had my first period age around 12/13).

Was told by GP at the time that 42 was on the early side of normal and advised it was up to me whether I took HRT. I didn't have any of the classic symptoms of menopause so decided not to take it.

Age 50 now and have just started HRT on advice of lovely female GP who actually seems to want to get to the bottom of why I feel so shitty all the time!

Rainydayinlondon · 04/06/2024 17:22

Please tell me you’re joking… I’m not going to be able to stand it!!
😂
Did the doctors comment as to why?

No, they were sympathetic but not at all concerned "Just one of those things!"

Toooldtoworry · 05/06/2024 16:40

I wish I was going through menopause. I had the coil fitted after finding fibroid and my periods are still awful at 47.

Tuwhituwhoo · 05/06/2024 16:50

52 or 53 (I genuinely can’t remember) started at 12 and a half.

recklessgran · 05/06/2024 16:55

50, and they stopped dead, no symptoms or hot flushes or anything. I couldn't have been more delighted to see the back of those fuckers, no more going to bed in a carrier bag and sex whenever you fancy it. What's not to like?

Topseyt123 · 05/06/2024 16:56

I started my first one when I had only just turned 11.

I had what was hopefully my last one at 57. It still wasn't quite a year ago, though very nearly now. I am really hoping that they have finally ended. The last 10 years were horrendously heavy and flooding due to fibroids and nothing seemed to work to control them. I pressed for a hysterectomy but didn't get it (it was the next step though).

when I reached 57 and was still going I thought they were never going to stop. That was how it felt. It's been about 9 months since the last one now, so my fingers are tightly crossed.

TotalDramarama24 · 05/06/2024 19:15

Started at 10 finished age 46. Regular as clockwork every 28 days throughout my life and then just stopped suddenly one month and never had another.

SuperBlondie28 · 05/06/2024 19:30

Started at 13. Now I'm 48. Had a light bleed this March but who knows if it's an HRT bleed or light period, but I did feel like crap the week before so guessing period 🤔

Thistlebrook · 05/06/2024 19:33

47 but irregular since 42. Have been on HRT since and currently 55.

Thistlebrook · 05/06/2024 19:36

Ooops started at 14

NellyCortado · 05/06/2024 19:42

Reading with interest. 49 and cycle all over the place.

Giggorata · 05/06/2024 19:58
EdithStourton · 05/06/2024 20:08

Started at almost 15. Petered out during my late 40s (I'd have a heavy one and then a light one and then a heavy one and then one that barely counted then a gap.. you get the idea) and I think I was 49 when I had the last one, maybe 50.

Should add, I had horrendous if intermittent night sweats, temperature all over the place, clumsy, forgetful. Just glad it's over really.

FearsomeWretchedandWrong · 13/07/2024 10:44
  1. Really regular, painful (and excessively heavy - had fibroids etc) until midway through 59, then got more erratic. Hysterectomy at 61 (a few months ago). It's made a huge - positive - difference to everything! Smile
WalkingaroundJardine · 16/07/2024 06:24

Finally reached 12 months no period at 53.
