I started hrt patches on Tuesday, as I am going through the menopause hoping they help, not really sure what to expect symptoms wise or how long they take to work

OP posts:
Wheretheskyisblue · 03/04/2022 07:36

Me too. I have been taking evorel 50 for a week but have not noticed any difference yet. What dose are you on OP? I was hoping the achyness and fatigue would improve with hrt. I was told to give it 3 months but was wondering if it can work quicker.

I start the progesterone this week. But worried about it as the mini pill gave me migraines.

Dozycuntlaters · 03/04/2022 08:14

It will take a few weeks to settle down so just give it some time. However, please be aware that there are many different regimes out there so if you don't get along with the patches you can change to something else. I'm on the gel and I take progesterone tablets every other day.

HRT is brilliant once you get it right so keep with it

Krazykitty · 03/04/2022 08:30

Me too. Put my first patch on Friday, obviously not expecting to feel any difference yet but keeping fingers crossed. Evorel 50 for me as well 😊

FrenchyQ · 03/04/2022 08:34

I started with evorel conti about 6 weeks ago. Didn't notice any difference for a couple of weeks but then my night sweats seem to stop and I actually slept. But this week the night sweats have come back , so maybe I'm on the wrong dose.im back at the docs for a review next Saturday so we'll see.

MarthanotMarfa · 03/04/2022 08:36

It took 3 weeks for a difference (which was amazing so don’t give up!) and 3 months to settle and really notice the full benefits. I have a friend who just gave up after a month and us now miserable and against hrt. She didn’t give it a chance. I had breakthrough spotting and bleeding/mini periods here and there until I got until the swing of it. Do persevere. I’ve lost a stone since starting without trying as my body has gone into reverse.

picklemewalnuts · 03/04/2022 08:39

The glue takes ages to come off. You'll either need to get adhesive remover/baby oil/alcohol to remove it, or make a pleasing pattern with the patches and consider it a tattoo Grin

Bernardscheesyhat · 03/04/2022 09:20

I have just had to switch from gel to patches due to the supply issue and for me it seems far less effective than the gel even though the dose is apparently equivalent. Am also finding it annoyingly itchy.

Badtasteflump · 03/04/2022 10:36

Place marking as currently waiting for first prescription to arrive in the post...

Qwaffee · 03/04/2022 10:38

Yes! I started my first Evorel Conti patch yesterday and am hoping I feel the benefits soon.

Runaround50 · 03/04/2022 16:39

I had patches for months. Evorel 75.
Whilst they worked for flushes, that was it for me. Bleeding took over, then itchy skin/ rash and horrid black glue marks. No thanks.

Currently taking oral and that’s not doing a lot either!

Good luck.

I've just been prescribed patches - Elleste Solo.
I've had a mirena again recently (as had polyps/thickened lining) so only need the oestrogen. I'm hopeful they will help with my brain fog and general weariness. I had thought I was all through menopause but bleeding started up again after a year and then came back with a vengeance.
Honestly, if men went through all this I think we'd be so much further on with research and treatments ..I know it's heaps better now than it was a few decades ago, but still...

comfortablyfrumpy · 04/04/2022 09:58

... to add - my GP passed me a tip she was told. The patches contain a small amount of alcohol and it helps to shake them before applying, as this disperses the alcohol.

TellySavalashairbrush · 10/04/2022 18:46

I started evorel patches three days ago. I am clinging to the hope that after 4 years I might get rid of dreadful insomnia at last and the awful achy joint pain. If it could also find my lost libido I’d be delighted!!

comfortablyfrumpy · 11/04/2022 09:13

Argh. Went to collect from pharmacy, to be told that the patches GP prescribed are not available. Now awaiting new prescription for an alternative. So near and yet so far....!

Kerrylouisemua · 11/04/2022 16:42

Hello ive been on evorel conti for nearly 6 weeks. At first 3vweeks I felt really good and now I feel awful again. I don't know what's going on at all.

Furryfeet · 12/04/2022 14:15

I've been on evorel oestrogen only for 13 days (first 7 days on 50, then 100). Due to start utrogestan at week 4. Before this I was on Elleste duet 1mg, which didn't work. I think that some of the physical symptoms of anxiety may be slightly better so far, as I don't have such a gnawing knot in my stomach all the time, but sleep is still very bad, which is the one symptom I really care about - if I could just see a 5% improvement it would give me hope. I was told to wait 4 weeks although benefits may arrive sooner... feel so impatient! Anyway, great to hear that some people have seen an improvement! Feel very happy for you

MrsDThomas · 12/04/2022 15:21

I saw my GP (specialist in menopause) and told her my symptoms and she spoke about the various things I could try.

In the end i went for patches and ive been given Evorel Sequi, im also on the minipill . I totally refused to come off it and i certainly don’t want a week long period every 2-3 weeks like i had, as i was weak, tired and in desperate need of B12 injections which im on every 6 weeks. I can cope with a little bit of bleeding in between if it happens.

Im going away on Sunday for the week and she said for me to start once i get back.

I may find my libidio on the way, much to my DH’s happiness! I feel awful but just cannot be helped without HRT, but hoping its a start!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/04/2022 15:26

I've been on Everol conti patches for almost 2 years. Love them. They stopped the hot flushes within a couple of days for me.

Baby oil gets the sticky residue off. And despite exercising every day, I've only had 2 patches come off before their due day.

I didn't do peri-menopause, just went straight into menopause and I feel just the same as I did before it now.

Badtasteflump · 13/04/2022 11:30

I started using Evorel 50 patches a week and a half ago. I've been getting migraines anyway since starting peri, but I've now had a migraine two days in a row. The GP said when my hormones settle the hrt might help ease the migraines, but (I think she said - I'm a bit befuddled ATM) that it could get worse before it gets better while my body adjusts. Has anyone experienced this? Feing a bit 😞

Thisismynewname123 · 13/04/2022 14:02

I'm very similar - still on mini pill which I want to stay on. I went to the doctor yesterday after having symptoms for a couple of years, got my first patches and put the first one on this morning. I have Evorel sequi. How long would side effects take to come out? I've had diarrhea for the last hour. Would this be side effects so quickly, or is it likely to be unrelated?

Badtasteflump · 13/04/2022 19:04

I can't imagine it would take effect that quickly, the patches release the hormones really slowly so you would have only had a tiny dose so far. Maybe you're a bit nervous about starting it and it's upset your tummy?

nzborn · 13/04/2022 19:07

Saw a specialist and started Body identical this month.

FrenchyQ · 14/04/2022 11:38

I went back to the docs for a review and saw a female Menopause specialist. She changed my patches from evorel conti (I have a Mirena so don't need the progesterone) and prescribed evorel 75. Put the first one on Tuesday and have had 2 amazing nights sleep since...not sure if it's coincidence!

Tabitha005 · 14/04/2022 14:08

Place marking as I've just applied my first Evorel Conti patch.

Qwaffee · 18/04/2022 07:49

So I’ve been on Evorel Conti patches for just over two weeks and haven’t noticed any changes yet. I’ve just reread the comments above and am hoping the 3 week mark will be the turning point. I’m still waking every half hour or so, dripping with sweat and heart pounding. In the morning I can barely walk down the stairs I ache so much. Can’t decide which is worst, the lack of sleep or the aches and pains!
