I started hrt patches on Tuesday, as I am going through the menopause hoping they help, not really sure what to expect symptoms wise or how long they take to work

I found out today that Estradot is being phased out! 😩 I’ve been given Estraderm 50. I’m annoyed because Estradot was just starting to work. The Estraderm patches are huge in comparison. I’m hoping they don’t fall off!

Morverner · 06/07/2022 10:25

Oh no😓 I am seeing the nurse this week in the hope of swapping to them from Evorel Conti. The Evorel are huge and roll up and make my skin sore.

Feart · 06/07/2022 21:06

@Morverner
😩 I’ve been given Estraderm and I’m worried they look big too. I’m trying them tonight.

annajbrassington · 06/07/2022 22:49

Week two of evorel conti. So far so good and noticeable improvement but still low mood and waves of depression. Anyone else experiencing this?

Denise1973 · 10/07/2022 22:35

Started Evarol 50 last Monday after having a full hysterectomy, not sure what I'm feeling tbh as I'm still all over the place after my op Confused

buckeejit · 10/07/2022 23:07

Been on everol conti for 4 weeks. Feel less terrible but not exactly myself. My diet & lifestyle has been shit for a while. Hoping to be able to make small changes at least in a few days when holidays are over.

If I feel the same percentage again better, that would be good!

gracijela · 12/09/2022 00:53

May I ask how did you get your GP to prescribe Body Identical HRT?

Lannielou · 13/09/2022 21:06

Where does everyone put their patch. Starting evorel conti today but not sure where to stick it

gracijela · 14/09/2022 08:06

@nzborn How did you get to a specialist, and how is Body identical working for you? I'd be curious to hear about your experience as I don't know where to start.
Thanks!

imnotapensioneryet · 14/09/2022 08:28

Started a month ago. Feeling better, sleeping! Vaginal dryness has gone. But still no libido so I will ask (again) for testosterone at my 3 month review.

nzborn · 14/09/2022 09:19

Hi Garcijela
I paid for a private menopause Doctor who wrote a two-page letter for my Doctor with my prescription recommendations.I then requested my Doctor write me a script so I'm getting this on the NHS.
I haven't been on long but have had one instance of there not being enough supply.
I no longer have hot flushes so very happy I can imagine being on this for the rest of my life.

gracijela · 29/09/2022 12:14

Thank you very much! I shall look around for a reasonably priced private doctor and/or pursue this with my GP. May I also ask if you have experienced any weight gain, now or on previous HRT? Thanks!

Mary46 · 29/09/2022 15:45

Hi I started the patches but had tape it after 24 hours annoying. Was coming off. Demestrial as low stock in chemists. I give them a month will see if worth it or not. Think gel be less fiddly.

Evis1973 · 30/09/2022 20:40

Evorel Conti 8 weeks and my breasts feel hot and sore and really hurt to touch. Can't sleep on my belly.
I mentioned this on another thread. It thought I'd put it here too.
It is a recognised side effect but I haven't seen anyone else mention it yet.

annajbrassington · 07/10/2022 07:12

Hi I put mine just above my hip on my back
hope this helps

keets75 · 23/11/2022 16:50

For those suffering bad aches in your joints etc please, please ask for a vitamin d check. Mine was put down to perimenopause, but she did a vit d check just incase... My levels were rock bottom. She perscribed a high dose for 7 weeks, and I've carried on with a spray. The relief has been amazing. But she said its often a symtom of pm and doctors don't check vit d levels. With lockdown etc their is a huge problem with people's vit d levels at the moment.

Hi I started Evorel Conti Patches 3 days ago. I’m 56 and really thought the menopause was a breeze - periods stopped at 47 and although I felt anxious sometimes - I was managing it ok. Now suddenly at 56 I have zero libido, anxiety through the roof, gum disease, eczema, fungal infections, tearfulness and extreme irritability. It’s like an advent calendar of symptoms 🙄😆!! So fingers crossed that these patches will make me human again ! If anyone else is feeling the same please feel free to chat.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 06/12/2022 07:23

@Meezerbabas

I could have written your post.

Apart from, I started patches just over a year ago. I'm still playing about with the dose/strength.

Now I have good days and bad days.

It's the irritability and rage I hate the most. I used to be so laid back. The internal monologue inside me, as I go about my day, would make me ashamed if people could hear it.

Biggest thing I've noticed over the year is that the shower doesn't block anywhere near as often as I don't lose anywhere near that amount of hair anymore. The hairdresser mentioned how much thicker my hair is.

annajbrassington · 06/12/2022 08:25

Same happened to me at sae age only add upset tummy to the mix as well.
patches worked straight away.
a few side effects like itchy skin and fungal infections. Sometimes headaches, but overall so much better
good luck and hope everything improves!

AnnaMagnani · 06/12/2022 08:36

Estradot 25. Thought I'd be in for a long period of titration and mood swings but after a month, hot flushes are gone, migraines are far less, I think I'm sorted!

Couldn't be happier.

Meezerbabas · 06/12/2022 09:38

Thank you for your replies - it’s so good to chat to people who understand! Love the word ‘rage’ that’s me exactly ! The patch fell off yesterday so put on another - having a bath soon so fingers crossed it will stay on. It was good to hear that you are all generally finding an improvement and I will let you know how things are going. Take care and keep in touch x

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 06/12/2022 12:02

@AnnaMagnani

Yes - my migraines went straight away when I started patches - suffered with them for 40 years.

I then asked to try gel and didn't get on with it. My hair started falling out again and I had the mother of all migraines - which was a shock as I hadn't had one for over a year.

I'm two weeks back on the patches now and the difference is very marked. I'll stick with the patches. I'm on the 75 strength. All I need to get rid of now is the impatience, irritability, lack of concentration, and the 'flaming rage'. But saying that, I've had a few good days recently.

What I regret is the amount of time that I've 'wasted' over the years being ill with migraines - when all it takes is a little extra oestrogen to get rid of them.

Women should have access to hormone specialists throughout their lives to check that levels are balanced.

For instance, it took me 5 years to get pregnant when we started to try for a family. This was due to having high levels of prolactin due to my thyroid being under treated. A little tweak of my thyroxine tablets and I got pregnant immediately. (I also did not have migraines during pregnancy, but straight after the births they returned with a vengeance. )

It's very important with regards to quality of life to check hormone levels - they are probably responsible for a myriad of nagging issues.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 06/12/2022 12:07

@Meezerbabas

Yes - I also get sore skin where I place the patches. That's why I asked to try the gel.

I time the changing of patches to coincide with going in the hot tub - I swear this keeps my joints moving. I feel that my range of movement is really good and less painful when I've been in - really helped with my frozen shoulders.
