I started hrt patches on Tuesday, as I am going through the menopause hoping they help, not really sure what to expect symptoms wise or how long they take to work

Started Evorel 50 at the weekend. Hope it won't take too long to see an effect.

SailorGeri · 20/04/2022 12:16

I've been on Evorel 50 for about two weeks (as the gel I normally use is out of stock). I'm finding I have an incredibly dry mouth much of the time which I've never had before. So far I'm not feeling great, but I'll give it time.

GoodVibesHere · 20/04/2022 18:15

I started on Evorel sequi patches 7 weeks ago to help with my peri symptoms of insomnia, night sweats, aching and fatigue.

My night sweats stopped after about 3 weeks (I've now had a night sweat since) and I started to see an improvement to my aching and fatigue at around 4 weeks. I have slept really well over the last couple of weeks.

Sossycat · 21/04/2022 10:36

I am on week 3 if Evorel Sequi patches. I'm having a break through bleed and also, I think they are messing with my bowels. I have cramps and loose stools (sorry, TMI). Has anyone else had the same? I have IBS and buscopan usually helps but doesn't seem to at the moment.

I’ve just increased my patch dose from 25 to 50mg. The sweats have gone and the knee stiffness and pain (worse symptoms) have eased.

Furryfeet · 22/04/2022 19:49

I had my first moment of feeling good on Wednesday! (day 21 of Evorel patches). After months of total apathy the world suddenly seemed fun & colourful. I danced in the kitchen, had a laugh with DH, ate unhealthy snacks and watched The Inbetweeners movie (I know, nothing to be proud of, but gives an idea of my frame of mind!) Then I had a huge crash at bedtime and was utterly miserable and sleepless for about 36 hrs - almost felt I’d imagined the happiness. Had another unexpected ‘high’ this afternoon. It’s a rollercoaster but I feel I’m finally starting to head in the right direction… wishing you all well

MrsDThomas · 23/04/2022 12:33

Where is the best place to put the patch?

put my 1st one on yesterday (got them 10 days ago but i was going on holiday last week and didn’t want to start) at the too of my thigh and its already peeling in places. When im sitting and the skin creases.

would the bottom of my back be better?

i know if I shower it will come off

FannylovesDick · 23/04/2022 12:40

I started on evorel 25 and a mirena. In 2-3 days I was sleeping for 5-6 hours straight (plus very vivid dreams) after over 10 years of 3-4 hours sleep a night. Not a side effect I had expected.

now on 50, but think I need 75. However, I’m worried that would send me back to bursting into tears.

PainterMummy · 23/04/2022 12:41

It dies take a while for the patches to work. I place mine on my bum cheeks, alternating each cheek. I put them there because they would peel off in other locations. About the glue, I use a body brush in the shower and just scrub my cheek with that anyway. Glue comes off no problem. I do use a calendar reminder on my phone to ensure I remember when to change the patch, as well as when to take the progesterone tablet (as it needs to be in empty stomach, 1 hour before good or 2 hours after plus, you know you’re not supposed to take tablets while drinking coffee) so timing is an issue for me. Usually end up taking progesterone before ned

for aches - try adding some vitamins to you routine. I take a fish oil tablet, collagen (helps with joints and losing hair), vitamin D and glucosamine. Adding yoga to your routine will also help tremendously. Try reducing alcohol to reduce hot flashes.

Furryfeet · 23/04/2022 14:16

Re where to stick it, I lost a patch last week when it got wrinkled and I’d done lots of swimming. I read somewhere that the dose is 20% lower on the tummy relative to bottom, so I’ve been going for ‘upper-buttock’. And apparently swapping sides is good for consistent dosage

MirandaWest · 23/04/2022 14:21

I’ve been using gel for nearly a year but with the supply issues I’ve asked to have some patches. Think I’ll wait until we’ve been away next weekend before starting but hoping it will work as well as the gel has.

Hi - hoping someone can advise pls. Last night was day 14 of Utrogestan 200mg and will now be starting 14 days without (I have an Evorel 50 patch). It's my first round of Utrogestan. I started getting spotting five days ago, which I expected, but today it is a heavy bleed, like a v heavy period. Is this normal? I've never had heavy periods so I'm finding it a bit unnerving!

TriceratopsRocks · 01/05/2022 18:50

I've used Evorel 50/Conti since Christmas 2020. It was one day in February 2021 that it hit me suddenly - I felt "well", and it had been so long that I'd forgotton what "well" felt like. So that would have been around 6-7 weeks after starting them. Life has totally changed for me since being on them.

Leeky16 · 10/05/2022 21:42

been on everol conti for 4 weeks and my weight has ballooned, I’m struggled with this and wondered if anyone was feeling or going through the same, I exercise and are a healthy eat but this doesn’t seem to make a difference. I’m just constantly bloated 😞 does this fade out eventually when your body settles

Badtasteflump · 02/06/2022 20:11

So I've been on Evorel 50 patches and Utrogestan for two months now. Gradually have been feeling the benefits - sleeping better so less tired, less achy, pins & needles and twitchy feelings gone and hot flushes stopped almost straight away. But the last few days the pins & needles and hot flushes have started happening again and I'm a bit gutted. I kind of assumed everything would keep improving until I have my three month review. Any ideas why or what I should do? Thanks...

53 and just started Evorel sequi 6 days ago after 18 months of being in denial of having menopause.. what a journey it’s been .. It may be in my mind but I feel body changes already .. I swear I have developed a waist overnight .. I’m now going to keep a diary and log mood and body changes .. feeling positive so far x

Menomin · 25/06/2022 19:15

I started my Evorel Conti patches 2 weeks ago. I have found my anxiety has improved but I cry some days. I hope things improve after at least 1 month

annajbrassington · 26/06/2022 16:28

55 and day 1 of Evorel Conti and this menopause has taken me completely by surprise as blood tests show that i went through it 5 years ago with no symptoms...... how wrong they were!!!
Mood is very up and down and probably cry most days pins and needles, massive sweats every morning. Sometimes a headache but very upset tummy
Generally feeling completely worn out so i hope these patches do what they say and kick in after 2/3 weeks

annajbrassington · 26/06/2022 16:32

Hi
How are you getting on with your patches? 😊

Tee66 · 29/06/2022 09:47

Yes I've just started them too Evorel conti ones I'm hoping they work as I have fibromyolgia aswell with very similar symptoms good luck x

annajbrassington · 29/06/2022 13:14

Thats rotten luck
I have felt some positive changes already since starting on Saturday ie not quite so tearful. Though today i have pins and needles and my legs really ache Ive got to give it chance and just accepting its all part and parcel

picklemewalnuts · 29/06/2022 13:25

I've been on Conti for a while now, and GP has agreed to add in more oestrogen. I'm like you @Tee66 , hoping some of the fibromyalgia symptoms turn out to be menopausal and fixable with patches!

Already have a good diet and plenty of gentle exercise.

Tee66 · 29/06/2022 15:35

Fingers crossed 🤞 my diet isn't great and I struggle with exercise but I'm hoping once the hrt kicks in i will have more energy to exercise 💪

picklemewalnuts · 29/06/2022 16:08

I did a graded exercise thing- extremely gentle, more so than you can believe.
Then once I was back on my feet, started gentle walking, trying to increase my daily steps, but only very slowly.

That's alongside prescription meds.

Then I did slimming world.

Now I look and feel like a normal, fully functional person again! I still have to be very aware of pacing, but the pain is in hand, and I have a reasonable quality of life!

Hopefully HRT will give me back some mojo!

PinotPony · 29/06/2022 17:22

Been on Estradot 25mcg for 3 months without noticing any real benefit.

Today GP agreed to increase to 75mcg.

I also have a blood test booked for next week to check my testosterone levels.

Quite impressed with GP as I expected an argument about testosterone!
