Just been to my GP surgery for my next script for Evorel Conti - no go, pharmacy hasn't been able to get these patches for about 3 months.

So the GP prescribed Fem 7, went to the pharmacy & again no go.

Last time it took a month to source them, but this time I run out in 10 days!

Anyone with any advice what to do next?

RachR2409 it could be just your area that is having problems getting the Evoral Conti, as my post says i got some a month ago,[which as explained am stopping] but my daughter was also given these 3 weeks ago,, in place of Femseven Conti
So they are still available in some areas

Hi there

I am on evorel sequi - so half the patches are conti and half 50. My question is that the pharmacist charged me £9 a box with 8 patches in it which over £1 a patch. Does this seem right to you?

It has taken me over an hour on the phone, to 9 different Pharmacy's (not including the 6 or so that either didn't answer or were constantly engaged) to finally find a pharmacy that had a stock.of Evorel Conti patches.

The pharmacist told me that the latest information they have been given on Fem7 patches is that manufacturing will NOT resume until early 2020, AT THE EARLIEST!

She said, because of the FEM7 manufacturing issue, the stock of many others are rapidly running low.

So if you're soon going to need a script, please make sure you have at least a months supply left when trying to get your next script.

Hi,
I've 47 and have been on Evorel Conti for 3 months, which was a year since my last period. I had two bouts of heavy bleeding early on, but nothing for the last month and generally feel much better, less tired and haven't had night sweats and flushes.
I have a question about the best way to pay for HRT - I have just had a second prescription for one month only (I had read somewhere that there is a shortage of HRT in the UK) but this will get expensive at £9 per month. My mother said that when she was on HRT years ago she had an annual prescription - does anyone have any experience of this, is it still possible?
Many thanks in advance

Anyone can buy the pre-paid prescription charge. It's around £100 for the year. You can find the form online. Are you saying you can't afford £9 a month for a prescription (it's just under £9 or do you pay 2 x £8.60 for 2 types of patches?)

Hi Gals, I have recently been prescribed evorel continue patches. I had eight weeks of very low mood complete switched off and not functioning at all. Crying and quite happy to sit blankly staring out the window. Eventually went to my GP who is a great doctor and she advised I try HRT. I have been on this patch 7 weeks now. I'm four years without a period and was worried it would come back, so far it has not thankfully. I have had side effects tho and in the past few weeks I have started suffering from anxiety. I have sore breasts and under arms, had serious bloating at the start. Also have been taking opthalmic migraines - more than usual. After having what really was a panic attack yesterday I contacted my GP she advised to try to stick with it for another couple of weeks and if anxiety persists to cease using. Has anyone else had serious anxiety issues? I would be a bit of a worrier but nothing like what I was feeling!! Sometimes feel like I am seriously losing the plot.. V unhappy with this time of my lifeConfused..

I have gained 3kg in a month on these (I’m not aware of any changes in my diet/exercise) and now feel hugely bloated, have diarrhoea, bleeding and my insomnia is back. If I gain another 3kg next month I think I’ll give up on them - I’m not prepared to buy a whole new wardrobe.

I've just wandered onto this thread from the HRT shortage one.

I'm 55 & have been very happy on Evorel Sequi for 3 years. Talking to my GP last week (about the shortage) he mentioned I should probably move onto Conti soon.

Reading this thread, it seems that there is no medical need for this, and a possibility I might end up feeling worse off? Can anyone confirm please?

@JinglingHellsBells you seem very knowledgeable!

(Never mind the supply issues, but I now have 4 months Sequi in stock having ordered some online, but thought maybe I could just stop taking the 50 patches in the next cycle)

Hello, I’m looking for some help! Im 47 and I think peri menopausal, although my periods hadn’t stopped but where irregular, I was suffering with insomnia and terrible hot flushes. I have suffered twice with PND and had PMT throughout my adult life.
I went to see a doctor who prescribed Evorel Conti. That was just under 3 months ago. I felt great to begin with but more recently my moods have been very very low and my anxiety is through the roof. I can’t sleep either!! Every time I got to the time to change the patches to the “Conti” ones I bloated up, my boobs almost doubled in size (a slight exaggeration but it feels like it!!) having read some previous posts I don’t think I’m alone. Is it possible that I shouldn’t even be on these patches as my periods hadn’t finished? Can they cause such massive depression?
Any advice gratefully accepted! I have stopped using them this morning as I feel they are doing me more harm. I have a docs appointment next week...

Hi there JinglingHellsBells,
I live in South Africa ,so some medications here may have different names etc.
I really hope you are able to guide me as i am so confused !
Just some history:-
I was put on hormone tablets inn my late 20's as all periods stopped (doc said due to stress ,was in a difficult marriage ) I have been on tablets since then . The name etc has changed over the years.
The most recent tablets being - Utrogestan 100mg taken with Premarin 0,625 taken daily.
Have been taken these for about 5/6 years anf have been fine, no periods but the occasional spotting.
About 2 months ago the spotting became heavier and continous so I was sent to see a gynecologist, who after a scan and pap smear ,scared me have to death by asking to speak with my partner and i then went into treatments etc for cancer after an immediate hysterectomy.
I was then sent in to have a biopsy done as in her words 'the lining of my uterus was 4cm bigger than it should be and lining 3 times thicker than normal ' Dr instructed me to stop all hormone tablets tablets immediately.
The biopsy showed no cancer or pre cancer.
I was feeling really ill, with headaches, cramps and very emotional.
I have been prescribed Evorel Conti Patches .
Having read about the side effects ! I am reluctant to use them -the doc has told me that should i have another bleed I must have immediate hysterectomy.
I have been taking Femular tablets, which seem to have less side effects.
I am more likely to snap etc than before and am having hot flushes (about 2/3 a day) am less emotional and headaches have stopped.
The night sweats are really bad I am drenched and cannot sleep.
I am also on medication for 'under active thyroid'
I am desperate !
What do you think ?
I have been thinking anout going back on the tablets as i felt really fine and was enjoying life, I was very active but now really can't be bothered to do much at all.
I would really apprecaite any guidance.

Kind regards

Sorry for typing errors - not very good at this! Hot flushes are not 2/3 times a day they are every 2/3 hours more if I am stressed. Also adressed to JinglingHellsBells as your posts seem knowlegable and helpful. But I will be happy if anyone out there can offer advice. At the moment, I feel horrible, I look hortible and I am horrible!

As long as you’ve not had a period for 12 months, you’ll probably be fine. They didn’t agree with me but they were wrongly prescribed as I haven’t stopped my periods. They made me so much worse in terms of PMT and anxiety so keep an eye on that. 🤞

Mermaidbright hi - I used the femseven sequi for years and loved them but changing to the everol progesterone has made me feel odd ! Can't explain , just don't seem to get on with these patches at all !! I am going to try the cream and oral progesterone… Was actually going to post to see if anyone had any experience of that

hi, this is my first time asking for advice, so please bare with me..
At 28 I started to show menopausal signs, i had hormone level check and had dangerously low estrogen levels, and progesterone levels also... long story short, the best combination for me ever since has been 1 mg of Novafem tablet form, and everol sequi patches, now because of the shortage of patches, I’ve been prescribed everol conti patches along with my 1 mg Novafem, but I’m confused after reading this is only suitable for women who have been period free for 12-18 months, because I still have a bleed every month,
Can anyone advise?

Hi could somebody please advise me. I’m 51 & have been on Evorel Conti 50 for 14 months I am having twice monthly bleeds with spotting in between. This has been investigated and a small fibroid found but the consultant thought it more likely the HRT is causing the bleed. My GP seems clueless & today she suggested wearing the patch for a week to get less hormones. Does this even work? Reading the above thread I wonder should I be on Sequi instead. Prior to having the conti I hadn’t had a period for 2 years however I think this was due in part to my thyroid being removed. Any advice appreciated

Hi Tillyboo 19 just came across this thread. Did you change to Sequi? I too have been prescribed Conti only and don’t think I should be on it. I have suffered continuous bleeds since I started taking it (12 months ago) and am thinking I should swap to Sequi. Also if you changed did you have a break before taking the new patches? My GP is useless and has suggested using the conti patch for 7 days to get less hormones but I don’t think this will work as it says each patch has enough hormones for 3.5 days. Any advice would be appreciated.
