Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

oldsilver - think I will have to make a note on one of my endless 'remember to do' notes....

CointreauVersial · 05/01/2012 00:44

Another peri-menopausal refugee from the Office Chair thread here.

I also cannot recall if I came onto this thread earlier, so I will have a little read to see if I did and see what nonsense I was spouting.

MardyBra · 05/01/2012 01:13

Oh I saw the office chair thread but didnt have time to read it all. The joys of flooding. If it's any consolation I had an aircraft incident a while back during the bit where you're strapped in for ages while landing. Luckily had black trousers on and a spare pair in my bag, but not an incident I like to remember. Have been much better since prescribed tranexamic acid.

Grin at crazynanna's recruitment drive.

Memory not good here either. I am increasingly relying on DD to fill in the blanks. She also caught me trying to use a phone as a remote control for the telly yesterday.

My memory's shite too. I got a wine glass out yesterday and promptly filled it with milk. Ugh! Grin

Went to g.p. yesterday for results of blood tests. My hormone levels are slightly elevated but within normal range, so they're going to repeat the tests in 2 months.

Also have to have internal exam to check size of womb etc. At least she gave me advance warning so I can shave my legs and wear nice knickers. (I used to do that for a night out, how times have changed!!!)

CointreauVersial · 05/01/2012 17:31

Well I've perused the 18 pages, very enlightening, quite a lot of Grin, but no prior appearance by me, so I must have been imagining that I posted here before, forgetful deluded old bag that I am.

No matter. Pass the gin.

44 here for another six weeks at least, and my periods have become increasingly hellish and irregular over the last couple of years. The GP recently put me on the pill (Mercilon), and it is fantastic - I can actually leave the house during my period, if indeed it shows up at all. The mini-pill (Cerazette) made things worse, but the full-fat version seems just the ticket. It has smoothed the grumpy moods too.

It's a shame my libido hasn't been seen since about 2005, otherwise I could make good use of all that bonus contraception. I read with interest about all the frisky thoughts some of you have been experiencing. Envy

I take my mood swings out on MN! Grin

ElectricSoftParade · 05/01/2012 20:27

Aha! I knew there was a thread about this and that I had posted on it but I couldn't remember where and which one. My memory is not going at all.

Kerry DH and DCs don't know from one minute to the next whether I will be crying or raging. Personally, I prefer to do both together as it gives me more time to dash to the loo to change my pads for the 20th time today.

Hope we all get a good night's sleep without any hot flushes or flooding.

Eowyn · 05/01/2012 20:34

Hello, I've lurked awhile but thought I should join in. I'm 43 & have had irregular periods & unexplained pains (which were investigated & nothing found a year ago).

Not too bad over last year but I haven't had a period since mid October, did preg test last week & negative thank goodness, as use diaphragm a bit sporadically.

I only just got married so really don't want to be moody & menopausal all the time.... It's only these threads that stop me worring every second of the day, I thought I was too young for all this tho I can't say the Dr was at all concerned....
Anyway, that's all for now, Hi everyone!

Ah Kerry, hope you are feeling a bit better now.

I have to go to the Post Office tomorrow to apologise to the clerk as I was outraged at the price of posting a card. It wasn't her fault, poor woman, and I was so rude. I am totally ashamed of myself and I will go to see her tomorrow and apologise and I will not cry while doing it. Horrible person, that is what I am and I can't use the excuse of peri.

I'm sure I was quite pleasant until recently Sad.

ElectricSoftParade · 05/01/2012 20:44

Hello Eowyn, it is a comfort to read you are not on your own with these symptoms.
