Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

18 days and no sight..woo hoo!
Got a bit PMTish 2 days ago, when I cried because Tesco didn't have any mince Hmm
Told everyone.."my life is shit" because of it Blush

oldsilver · 20/11/2011 18:21

Awww - I cried when 3 buses didn't turn up and I was late for work ... I only work an hour that day and the only reason I was catching a bus was cause my bicycle (no never in white trousers .... ever!) had a puncture, and my body was telling me it didn't want to walk - it was the end of the world [pathetic emotional mess]

crazynanna · 20/11/2011 18:30

God it's ridiculous! Grin
We will laugh one day Wink

oldsilver · 20/11/2011 18:51

So I keep being told as well as "you come into your own when you are in your 40's - you are more confident and relaxed"

crazynanna · 20/11/2011 18:54

More like "(after a night out) you'll come in on your own in your 40s"

Unlike me who came in with a two day hangover this Friday Night and I NEVER get hangovers

animula · 20/11/2011 19:29

Hello all. Haven't quite caught up on whole of thread yet.

Crazynana, I went to GP this week & am going back for blood tests. I guessed that I'd get an internal exam, so I was at least prepared in the undies department. Still, it was a great way to start the day.

Hope your results are all right. Won't fibroids shrink without oestroegen though?

crazynanna · 20/11/2011 20:56

Good luck with the tests animula. Hope they are ok. I await my blood results...and my appointment with Rabbitcam Hmm

Portofino · 20/11/2011 20:59

I "veeted" my moustache this morning - only fine fair hair but it was looking decidely bushy...Blush. I have now discovered that it was hiding wrinkles underneath!!!

ExitPursuedByaBear · 20/11/2011 21:05

Oooh - hello ladies - is this the Peri Quiche? Have I found you at last?

crazynanna · 20/11/2011 21:11

Portofino...ya see! Mama Nature puts female facial hair there for a reason! She's so perfect...Mama Nature Wink

ExitPursuedByaBear you sure have found us!
But are you Peri? Do you look 6 months gone pre-AF? Do you forget your address at the Argos delivery counter? Could you sort out a major disaster blood transfusion call with your AF? Do you sweat all day and have strange dreams of Geronimo by night? Yes? then welcome Smile

animula · 20/11/2011 21:25

Portofino - It's a joy. Oh yes.

Well, well, well.

Dh just suggested I tackle the washing-up mountain (no dishwasher in this house Sad ) and i pointed out that I am the embodiment of the triple goddess, entering my third phase. As a goddess, entering upon a critical life-change, I should be excused the mundanity of washing-up. And he's done it.

I also pointed out this could last ten years.

Somehow suspect that the goddess will have to don the marigolds now and then, but I am feeling a suitably venerated wise crone right now.

crazynanna · 20/11/2011 21:28

Did he drain of colour when you told him it could last 10 years? Grin

Hat's off to him though. Now you just got to get him to do the rest of the housework Wink

oldsilver · 20/11/2011 21:44

Whereas my dp can't understand why I can't go to the doctors and get a tablet to cure all of it Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

crazynanna · 20/11/2011 22:06

Portofino · 20/11/2011 22:07

katkitya · 20/11/2011 22:20

Someone told me at work the other day that I am always moaning Sad

My fibroids feel massive. My hair is falling out like mad. I have pms all the time, period cycle is is about a week shorter.

Someone told me to start eating soya everyday.

Is anyone getting backache alot? Ive never had it before.

ExitPursuedByaBear · 20/11/2011 22:36

Sorry Crazy, been there, done it, got the t-shirt, t-shirt has shrunk and is now being used as a duster. (Ha, as if I ever dust.)

I am on the other side...

At least I think I am. The worst bit for me was about three months ago when I swear I felt the fat cells in my waist and my thighs literally, and I use that word correctly Wink expanding as I drove my car to the stables. It was a weird fizzing/popping sensation, and now I have extra body up my back iyswim.

A friend told me that when we lose oestrogen we lose our caring hormones.

Tis true.

CAN'T. BE. ARSED.

I just feel sorry for my DD who is only 12. Late motherhood.

animula · 20/11/2011 22:38

My dd's 8!!! You've scared me!!!!

Actually, I think I could do with caring just a weeny bit less. but I'm guessing it's not a weeny bit less, is it?

oldsilver · 20/11/2011 22:45

My DS is nearly 6 shitting self (makes a difference from weeing Wink )

crazynanna · 20/11/2011 22:46

Envy Exit at being on the other side.

DD (13) usual line is..."why you bothered have kids' I will never know. You don't really give a damn,do you?"

To which I reply "Nope"

I think I may have reached a level of calm.

However, I do lie awake at night wondering if that was it...

Then I remind myself that lots of people have done fabulous things in their later years, and regain some hope.

More wine?

Sevenfold · 20/11/2011 22:54

can any of you clever people answer a question, how much does the Mirena coil mask the menopause?
