Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

mrsbossyboots · 20/10/2011 21:52

Thank you for making me realise I'm normal (well in relation to post 40 periods!) Irregular periods, missed periods (thankfully only 2 in the past year but hideous hot flushes when I should have had my period),the rage when I just feel sooo angry but for no reason and sore boobs. I went to see my lovely (young) GP who told me it's normal for periods to go a bit haywire in late thirties early 40s and offered to put me on a pogestrone pill to help with the symptons but I didn't fancy this and then everything settled down for a few months until we were off again. She did say this can go for years.

I always used to wonder why they were called hot flashes but get it now, I find them very unnerving!

CeliaFate · 21/10/2011 19:21

I think my period, which is 2 weeks late may be starting tomorrow. I'm going out tomorrow. I go out about 5 times a year. Shitting bastards.

cyb · 21/10/2011 19:21

Forgot to discuss ovulation pain- anyone get that? its ouchy

crazynannawitchbitch · 21/10/2011 19:48

Fucking shitty that is CeliaFate Sad...hope it holds out until the next day.

Not so much ovary pain, cyb, but bachache and really, really sore boobs...so tender!

crazynannawitchbitch · 21/10/2011 19:48

obviously that was backache

ScarahStratton · 21/10/2011 19:49

Can I ask where you get back pain? (Upper or lower back?)

crazynannawitchbitch · 21/10/2011 22:27

Lower...where I used to have a little curve back in the day...but,alas,no more [hwink]

mrsbossyboots · 21/10/2011 22:37

I'm sure it's still there!

I have back ache across most of my back this month that started at the same time as a pretend period (thought it was coming two wks after my last one but then stopped after two days). Celia fingers crossed it doesn't start tomorrow.

Yes to ovulation pain but I've had it for years. Don't mind when I get it as at least it means I'm going to have period that month.

I can't see the point of a peri menopause...why just not get on with it Mama Nature...staight to the ovary shrivelling, dry fanny bit,and it's done.

Tigerbomb · 21/10/2011 22:48

Can I join the PM quiche?

I am 45 and my periods have been regular as clockwork, normally every 28 days. Then I missed one. When the next one was due it was just Brown blood (sorry tmi) and then continued on to what I thought was a normal period. Unfortunately I am now on day 47 of the worst period of my life. Massive clots, a new super super tampax every 2 hours plus super pads. (sorry, more TMI) It's really getting me down and I am so tired all the time. I have heart problems so cant have any tablets to help but I was prescribed metformin for diabetes on day 3 of my period. Does anyone know if this has had any effect on what I am going through. I cant get to see a Dr till next week

oldsilverbullet · 21/10/2011 22:53

Oh oh oh crazy I have a joint ishoo and I always know when the period is coming cause my joints (specially ankles and knees) start to play up - took a few periods before dp worked it out for me. My joint probs are due to an auto immune disease

oldsilverbullet · 21/10/2011 23:01

Looking at the wiki entry metformin is now being prescribed for polycystic ovary syndrome - don't know if that has anythng to do with it? I am not medical in any way...

crazynannawitchbitch · 21/10/2011 23:04

oldsilverbullet Fuck gel..we're all falling to bits [hhmm]

oldsilverbullet · 21/10/2011 23:12

Nah ... I've been falling to bits for years!! [hgrin]

crazynannawitchbitch · 28/10/2011 12:18

Just come on for a moan Peris'.

Got my period after just a 17 day frigging cycle! And it is one of the nasty bastard ones Sad Bleeding like a slaughtered pig...all over my clean sheets at 3am Angry. Feel like I have been kicked in the stomach,so dosed up with painkillers'. DD been great though on the bright side. She got up at 8am (it's half term and she's 13),and walked to Tescos for me to buy pads, and she bought me a bar of chocolate to cheer me up Smile.
Was supposed to babysit for the grandchildren today so DD1 could go Christmas shopping,so had to cncel...feel guilty but DD1 was really sympathetic.
God,I hate periods. I don't need them...I don't want them.
Bath and bed....great use of my annual leave Hmm

Thanks for listening
Love from
A Moany old caaahhh.
