YG Suggested Friday, 2 Dec.

Personally I would prefer a Saturday, as it will take quite a while for some of us to get over there. If we chose a Saturday we could start earlier and make a longer night of it?

I would be without dh - he would be babysitting.
Sat 3 Dec is OK for me.

WedgiesMum · 20/08/2005 22:11

DS Obsessed with Top Trumps, but then so was DH at that age and he can STILL remember the values of his sports car set!

Glad to see he has passed it on to yours roisin (evil laugh).

Dec 2 looks ok atm

Gobbledigook · 20/08/2005 22:12

Yes, Saturday better.

No dh - he'll be with the children.

WedgiesMum · 20/08/2005 22:13

Sorry finger slipped Dec 3 fine

Hulababy · 21/08/2005 18:36

I think Saturday 3rd is fine me too.

No Dh with me either - will be babysitting.

I'll send Callielou (my friend who came to recent meet, now lurks on MN) this link to see if she is interested too.

trace2 · 21/08/2005 20:25

callielou · 22/08/2005 19:50

I think Saturday 3rd December would be ok. Would just need to sort out a babysitter.

Hulababy · 22/08/2005 20:31

Glad you can make it Callielou

I'm organising a meal for another site. We've picked The Old Mill at Brighouse. That's £18.95 for three course with choice (including vegetarian) plus coffee and mints. There's a Premier lodge next door. It's just off J25 m62. Also Brewers Fayre Xmas leaflets are out too. A cut and paste of what I said on the other site is:

.... BREWERS FAYRE (pub visited: Bulls Head at West Bretton nr Wakefield. J38 M1 Accommodation next door: Midgley Lodge £39.95 per room per night)

Festive Feast menu £12.99
Starters: soup of the day or lemon and ginger chicken skewers or prawn cocktail or garlic breaded mushrooms
Mains: turkey and ham (hand carved turkey with ham, sausage and herb stuffing, sausage wrapped in bacon and yorks pud
or gammon steak grilled and served with a smokey red wine, bacon and mushroom sauce
or smothered chicken - grilled breast topped with bacon and brie smothered in cranberry and redcurrant sauce
or salmon fillet served with garlic butter
or veg. nut roast served with veg. gravy and yorks pud.
Desserts: Xmas pud with brandy sauce or custard
or ice cream
or choc fudge cake with ice cream
or cheese and biscuits
then coffee or tea with mince pie

CHEF AND BREWER (pub visited: The Old Mill, Wakefield Road, Brighouse near J25 M62 accommodation Premier Lodge next door at £46.95 per room per night)

Starters: caramelised onion, stilton and walnot tart (V)
or duck and porcini mushroom ravioli served with raspberry olive oil and salad leaves
or smoked salmon and crab parcel served with rocket and chard salad and brown bread
or french onion soup served with a crisp bagette

Mains: roast turkey and ham serves with chipolatas, stuffing. gravy and cranberry sauce
or 10oz rib eye steak served with bearnaise sauce
or aubergine torte serves with a plum tomato sauce (V)
or cod loin wrapped in pancetta and served with a wholegrain mustard sauce
or venison steak served with a red wine sauce

Puds:
Xmas pud served with brandy sauce
or meringue romanoff
or strawberry brulee
or chocolate mousse served with ameretti biscuits

then mince pie and coffee

I also visited the Cedar Court Hotel at Huddersfield but their Xmas menu doesn't start until 3nd December and and a four course set evening meal is £32! The carvery disco nights for parties 20 or under start at £27 on 2nd/3rd December and rising as December goes on. I didn't ask how much accommodation is....

I did get something from Brooklands but it's more expensive and I'll now go and try and find it to post information. HTH

trace2 · 31/08/2005 10:27

is there any music at any of these? just asking

do you want me to carry on looking too?

OP posts:
dottee · 31/08/2005 12:15

Just meals with both of these.

I've still not got around to posting Brooklands.

Also, I've got a menu from the Huddersfield Hotel this morning. There's 'Johnnys' nightclub next to it. More details to follow.

Yes please, carry on looking!

piffle · 31/08/2005 12:59

Can I put in an I'd like to come too message!
Will likely be without dh though and may be coming by train...

Nbg · 31/08/2005 13:02

I'm not sure yet.

Dh hasn't got his shifts for December yet.
If everyone elses other halfs aren't coming then I'll leave mine at home too.

Will let you know as soon as I can.

Is the Brewers Fayre the same as last year - if so, I happy with there. It was nice and plenty of chances to chat - although it'd be noce if we could all go on one table this time.

No idea of other too as not sure how far away they'd be. Going to be right at the other side of Sheffield by Christmas time, so further to travel.

BLANKfloozypuddingandpie · 31/08/2005 21:39

Ooo - West Yorks!! I might pluck up the courage to come!

Nbg · 31/08/2005 21:42

Come on Pudding and Pie!

BLANKfloozypuddingandpie · 31/08/2005 21:43

I'm actually quite shy in real life

Nbg · 31/08/2005 21:45

I am too.

Sort of.

We don't bite and stare!
