I'm moving to Sheen and seem to remember Willow2, Bettys, Binker and ks were all up for a night out. I move on 4 August, so sometime in mid/late August or September would be good. I'd love to meet some mums in the area.

oooh, mumsnetters in Wandsworth - me too I'd be on for a late September meet-up, if I can join you all...?

SamboM · 14/07/2003 23:19

Of course

Right, let's go for 27th September.

Who's up for it?

OP posts:
willow2 · 15/07/2003 11:38

I'll say yes now, but that's over 2 months away so anything could happen in the meantime. Can't we do anything sooner - not that I haven't got a social life of my own or anything. Honest.

Bouj · 15/07/2003 16:00

Any of the dates sound good to me - no exciting plans like summer holidays on the horizon...

SofiaAmes · 15/07/2003 22:38

Why don't we do both the 23rd of august AND the 27th of september.
You can see I have no social life.

SamboM · 15/07/2003 22:58

I can't do 23rd Aug any more as am going away.

Away the next 2 weekends on holiday
Then moving/sorting out house
Then wedding 30 August.

I could do earlier in Sept or maybe the weekend before 23 August? Except that's the first footie home game of the season so will be out after that I guess.(you going Willow2? Btw DH just got season ticket by getting one of those new debentures, I turned it down as I don't get to go so much now with dd so am still TRS)

Oh it's all so complicated!

OP posts:
willow2 · 16/07/2003 23:01

You can afford a debenture? Haven't got tickets yet so not sure what is going on. Am away from 9th September for a week so can't go then, but am up for anything outside of this time.

SamboM · 17/07/2003 14:22

No, Willow2 we can't afford it! Dh and I had a conversation about 3 days before he heard about them saying how we had to cut down on spending as we were about to have a bigger mortgage, had to pay for the nanny etc. Then I get this rather grovelly phone call saying "I know we said we had to cut down BUT!!!!"

So we have taken half of it out of the money we had saved to do up our new house and the rest he is paying off over 3 years.

I don't resent it as he doesn't go out much on his own and it's his big thing, his 2 mates he always goes with are getting them too so he would've missed out on a lot. I have started going less as it's so expensive gettting babysitter for dd, then £30 or £40 for ticket, programme, drinks etc ends up costing £100 in total (unless I can get my mum to babysit) and as I'm working full time I really want to spend my saturdays with dd. I go more during the week really. One or other of his mates are often away on bus so I will get their season tickets for those games.

11 of us. Someone told me they went to Ulvieto in Sheen the other day and it was really good and about £30 a head incl wine - is that too much? If so how about a curry or something? Or a Thai?

When you post your coming or not post, say what your favorite food it and we can go to the one with the most votes! Mine is Italian

I'll be back on 2nd August so will pick this up again then and book something, though moving house on 4th so may have to wait until the week after.

SofiaAmes · 17/07/2003 23:06

You've counted me twice! Hope that doesn't mean that I have to pay twice. I would be good to go to a place where we can separate out the alcohol bill for us almost non-drinkers (also I'm allergic to wine, so can't participate in the general emptying of bottles that goes on at our get togethers).

SamboM · 17/07/2003 23:17

Well you did say you wanted two nights out!

We can sort out the alcohol bill so you don't pay of course s

KatyW · 18/07/2003 15:06

Italian is good for me....or Thai....or a curry. Haven't heard of Ulvieto though - is it new?

willow2 · 18/07/2003 19:21

Ulliveto is very nice - but think £30 a head is underestimating the cost by quite a bit.

bossykate · 18/07/2003 20:09

hello everyone

if it is 27th Sept am pretty sure i can make it.

although, like woody allen in whichever film it was, feel like my evening diary is wide open for the next five years, so could probably do something earlier as well...

am happy to eat generous helpings of most things. if it helps order of pref is (1) thai (2) indian and (3) italian. looking forward to seeing you all soon.

bettys · 22/07/2003 13:01

Just catching up with this thread. A couple of people have suggested 27th September is a bit far off, so as Sofia said is anyone up for 23rd August as well? Or maybe the 21st August which is a Thursday & might be easier.
Has anyone tried the Naked Turtle in Sheen?

willow2 · 22/07/2003 17:16

naked turtle over priced and crap food - plus there's a "jazz" singer there some nights

willow2 · 22/07/2003 17:16

oh - and now can't do september 27th as had to move holiday to that week. Can do anytime earlier.

SofiaAmes · 22/07/2003 22:53

Let's do a mini get together on the 23rd!

bossykate · 22/07/2003 23:03

can't do either 21st or 23rd August as away on holiday, enjoy!

LucieB · 23/07/2003 09:45

August is no good for me - see you late Sept...how about doing the Sept get together in Putney/Barnes?

27th of Sept is good for me

bettys · 23/07/2003 22:25

Anyone else up for a mini get-together on the 23rd August? Or even the 16th August?

Fionn · 28/07/2003 21:20

Looks like a good time to reappear - I could do either bettys!

willow2 · 29/07/2003 09:59

Think I'm ok for either bettys.
