Pretty slings

Lovely to meet you properly. Hope to get together soon.

Dd is all refreshed again from a bit of a sleep in the car. Ds also fell asleep but is absolutely shattered! Early to bed for him I think.

BouncingTurtle · 23/06/2010 17:59

DS was kept occupied in the car with a bag of Quavers! One of the bar staff kindly filled his cup with tap water for the journey home, but he quaffed it! Luckily had some very warm water in the car in my sports bottle so topped it up at the traffic light.
Had a great conversation with him.

Me - "DS, we have to go to the shops before we go home to get some bananas"
DS - "Nanas all gone!"
Me -"Why are they all gone, DS?"
DS - "Me Eat! Nanas all gone!"
Me - "Yes that's right you ate all the bananas!"

Bless him, he is a little horror at times(as demonstrated when we first arrived) but he really is a little cutie pie

Chocaholica · 23/06/2010 18:52

Thank you all for letting me come; it was great to meet you and the little ones.

Intergalactic, I have just ordered one of those slings, an in-stock flowery one. I now feel excited (sad!) about trying it out.

See you all soon!

StealthPolarBear · 23/06/2010 18:58

when's the next one? I've missed out!
Actually, don't bother, just tell me 2 days before

LeggyBlondeNE · 24/06/2010 10:42

That was such a lovely lunch. I went back to my office and wrote 2 pages of article with lots of stats and narry a whisper of a yawn!

Slings look great - cheers fot the rec IG! I'm now torn between sending them some of my multitudinous bits of fabric or having a stab at making one myself in patchwork...!

EasilyConfusedIndith · 24/06/2010 14:26

Look here for great patterns for making your own sling Leggy.

MyPurpleDove · 25/06/2010 13:10

My niece makes slings to order, if anyone is interested I can put you in touch with her.

Had a lovely afternoon, DS was shattered.

Chocaholica · 25/06/2010 17:11

MyPurpleDove, is this the same niece with the good put downs to people who don't like seeing her bf?

I have my new sling already - fab customer service as ordered it after five on Weds! Been for a walk with DD2 in it already and she loved it. It is I think less snuggly than the Hugabub but it is way quicker to put on and just as comfy. She is now asleep in it...

Re the picnic, I thought it was tomorrow but have reread the message and is Sunday - when I'm going to a barbecue at my parents house - could try to come beforehand but not eat - is anyone going?

MyPurpleDove · 25/06/2010 19:34

Choca, yes, that's her .

Chocaholica · 26/06/2010 07:40

Sling update - been wearing it almost nonstop and it is a definite hit. So easy to put on - great for a new sling user - and very comfy.

Chocaholica · 26/06/2010 07:41

Posted this too soon - meant to say thank you to Intergalactic for the recommendation.

FrozenNorth · 28/06/2010 00:26

Hello all - pretty new to this mumsnet local thing. Living in Durham city and keen to meet other folks (currently on mat leave with DD too so in need of socialisation). Are there any meet-ups planned in the nearish future?

EasilyConfusedIndith · 28/06/2010 08:52

Hi there Frozen, welcome

I think the next one will be a night out. Suppose we should get a date for that! End of July folks, when are you all free?

I have no objections to meeting up before then though at the botanics or just for cake

LeggyBlondeNE · 28/06/2010 10:39

I'm well up for more cake (or in fact cake, since I just had potato last week!), especially since I'm away/busy with beloved's birthday weekend from the 17th-25th and not convinced I should make any strong plans thereafter! (Of course, I'm going to keep all August free and end up with a baby two weeks late like her papa and be bored stiff, but better play safe nonetheless!)

In fact probably best if I just keep quiet and see if I'm free and not in early labour when a date is set... ;)

In other news - had my home visit from midwife yesterday and looking all set for home birth! Hurray! The paper I wrote last week needs completely re-writing though as I discovered a previously un-analysed variable which changed all my results...

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2010 10:45

aahh frozen you found us, sorry

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2010 10:46

did someone say cake?

FrozenNorth · 28/06/2010 16:09

Ooooh, cake. These meet-ups seem like my kind of thing

Stealth - I actually found the thread last night but lost it again this morning, hence my post: thank you for responding! Bookmarking this thread now.

FrozenNorth · 28/06/2010 16:10

A bit of background - have two girls (toddler and baby) and am in final year of psychology PhD at the university.

LeggyBlondeNE · 28/06/2010 16:36

Ah ... FrozenNorth, I did wonder if that's who you were ... on which note, I owe you an email!

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2010 16:57

i can do this thurs/fri

1 - that means i'm less likely to forget
2 - never know when i might be able to leave the house again

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2010 16:58

near the university...?

juneybean · 28/06/2010 17:22

I want cake although my sandwich was very nice!!! I missed out on cake... very sad!

However on a positive note I might have a job come September!

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2010 17:29

woo hoo fngers crossed, when will you know?

EasilyConfusedIndith · 28/06/2010 17:39

Great Juney, fingers crossed

Cake is good. Anyone say Cafe Continental? Any day is fine for me. SPB do you mean this Thurs/Fri? Last min meet up?

Leggy def keep making plans, just make sure people know you might have to back out at the last min! Nothing more boring that sitting around waiting for a baby with nothing to do. Trust me! Ds was 2 weeks late and being due over Christmas/New Year there wasn't much going on. I think I sank to new lows bouncing on a birthing ball while twiddling my nipples watching High School Musical.

Who is up for a night out?

July 24th or 31st? Hopefully that would mean foxy can come.

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2010 17:45

yes, i did mean this thurs or fri but i should prob confirm that as our roof was meant to be being done Mon- Wed & they didn't turn up today
