Meet your athletics heroes!
McCain Track & Field Roadshow
Plymouth Hoe Promenade
Sunday 24th May from 11am to 4pm
...providing everyone the chance to give athletics a go in a fun and relaxed environment.
...designed to make athletics more accessible to more people. Come down to Plymouth Hoe Promenade and try out different athletic disciplines with the support of UK Athletics (UKA) coaches.
Top athletics stars will be at the event between 12-3pm to give tips, inspire and challenge you to get involved and find out more about athletics. Among the athletes to look out for are Olympian and 2006 Commonwealth Games 5000m silver medallist Jo Pavey, 100m and 200m paralympian John McFall and Young Athlete and rising star, Liam Biddlecombe. Activities available to try out on the day include testing reaction and strength as well as jumping, throwing and sprinting exercises. Top nutritionist Jane Griffin will also be at each roadshow to ensure you are supporting your active lifestyle with good food.
At the event there will be talent spotters from the Armada Athletics Network who will select someone who demonstrates excellent athletic ability to win sponsorship to trial athletics at their local club, ?best seat? tickets for 2 adults and 2 children to a major Aviva athletics event plus travel and accommodation and adidas kit for training. There will also be other prizes up for grabs just by coming along.
McCain Track & Field ambassador, Sally Gunnell, comments, ?I believe in balancing an active lifestyle with enjoying good food. As a busy mum with three growing boys, I know all about the pressures that parents face in getting their children to eat healthily and get active and am delighted that McCain has joined forces with UKA to help support them and encourage everyone to get into the sport I love.?

For those who enjoy what they experience at the McCain Track & Field Roadshow, they can then head to their local Athletics Club, many of which are now part of a McCain Athletics Network*. The Armada Athletics Network will be represented and is comprised of the City of Plymouth AC, Bere Alston Trekkers, East Cornwall Harriers, Erme Valley Harriers, Instinctive Sports, Moorhaven RC, Plymouth Coasters, Plymouth Harriers, Plymouth Muskateers, Plymstock Road Runners, Tamar Trotters, Tavistock AC. Every club offers prospective new members a chance to try the sport for free, and all you need to do is get in touch.
