mawbroon · 09/01/2009 15:40

What was that place we were in way way back in 2006 prettybird?

Was that in Princes Square? [hopeless when it comes to Glasgow]

sunnygirl1412 · 09/01/2009 18:56

I like sweetkitty's idea of lunch followed by a spot of shopping - just don't tell my dh that that's the plan!

nailpolish · 10/01/2009 12:56

shopping

yes thats my plan alright

mawbroon · 10/01/2009 21:54

Was telling DH about this today. Not sure if I will just come on my own, or if we will all go through together and then DS and DH will go and do their own thing.

Any recommendations for what they could do together? DS is 3 and we have already done the transport museum, but nothing else.

SimpleAsABC · 10/01/2009 22:16

Science centre Maw Broon?

mawbroon · 10/01/2009 22:27

Is that good for a 3yo?

mawbroon · 10/01/2009 22:37

Have we set a date for this?

I've just gone and booked train tix to go away on 7/8 Feb without checking here first!!

sweetkitty · 10/01/2009 22:39

I'm really looking forward to my "day off" now

First Saturday in March wasn't it?

aGalChangedHerName · 11/01/2009 10:59

We are meeting on the 7th of March

prettybird · 11/01/2009 12:43

Yes Mawbroon - that was where we met.

Science Centre might be OK for a 3 year old - but I am not sure it would be worth the money as it is expensive.

Actaully Kelvingrove Museum might be an idea: dinosuars and big elephants to look at!

nailpolish · 11/01/2009 13:35

yes its the 7th of march

OP posts:
nailpolish · 11/01/2009 13:43

ive heard kelvingrove is brilliant for small childen

where are off to feb 7th mb/ anywhere nice? would you be getting the train to the meet up? we could all go together (edinburgh girls me, you&dh&ds, gingerwench etc)

mawbroon · 11/01/2009 18:33

Thanks prettybird. Looks like the Science centre would be about £14 for DH and DS, so I will make sure they give that one a miss!!

Is the Kelvingrove museum the one just across from the Transport Musuem?

NP, we are going to York that weekend. Got a cheap train fare (plus discount for having family railcard) and will stay over. DH wants to go the Railway museum there [trainspotter] and we will have a look about the city centre.

prettybird · 11/01/2009 19:03

Yes it is. And there is usually a wee exhibition or something that has been particualry designed for young 'uns and which is nice & interactive.

Remember to make a wee contribution after visiting as it is we Glasgow council tax payers who have to pay for such a fantastic resource!

It doesn't count as a National Museum so the Scottish Governemnt doesn't fund it likie it does the Edniburgh museums (although they do occasionally give one-off funds when the City Council screams loud enough)

mawbroon · 11/01/2009 21:08

OK, will remind DH of that.

I think we will be getting the train naily, but DH doesn't seem keen to sit with a bunch of MNetters so I might send him to another coach.

geordieminx · 11/01/2009 21:11

Mawbroon - you can use Tesco vouchers for science centre - IMO, it is quite expensive but there is loads to do - you could spend the whole day there!

Caz10 · 11/01/2009 21:13

hijack sorry but where is CP??

Kelvingrove is good for small children!

mawbroon · 11/01/2009 21:30

Caz - Centre parcs

mawbroon · 11/01/2009 21:31

I think we will wait until ds is a bit older geordieminx.

nailpolish · 12/01/2009 09:01

oh MB i love york - went there every summer when i was little
have fun!

ps thats ok about dh not wanting to sit with a bunch of mners - i should have thought!!

OP posts:
mawbroon · 12/01/2009 09:44

I've never been to York. In P7, it was the big school trip, going to York for a few days.

But I didn't get to go and had to sit in an empty classroom with the other two kids who didn't get to go either

So it had better live up to the expectations that I have had since P7

nailpolish · 12/01/2009 15:16

you absolutely must go to bettys tea room

perfect for tea jennys like you and me!!!
