kitty - ignore that cp thread
we went with the cheapest lodge - i thought it was great! clean, big rooms, log fire, good gas hob and oven, all you could need ie crockery, cutlery - a good shower and bath - who cares if it doesnt have sky telly or a dishwasher - you are on holiday for fucks sake!
we didnt do many activities - swimming every day which was the BEST FUN and free - and we only ate out twice - its the same price as eating out here in Ed so to me its not dear

ignore those snobs and have a brilliant time

Hey I am new to this meet up thread - can I invite myself?!

sweetkitty · 06/01/2009 14:52

Thanks NP it's the basic acccomodation we went for too, the only difference I could see between the comfort and comfort plus was a dishwasher and as you say I think we will survive without one for 4 days, we can rope in the DDs to help they love washing dishes! As Dp said he would tather have the basic accomodation and spend more on time out club activities

mawbroon - I am trying to do the same less MNing more RL but when you are stuck in with this cold weather it's too tempting

stefka - of course you can join, I have never been to a Scottish MN meet up, went to one in London about 4 years ago

midnightexpress · 06/01/2009 14:57

Don't know if I can make it, but if you'd prefer to have cake instead of lunch (and let's face it, who wouldn't?), you could try that Fifi and Ally (I think that's the name) place upstairs in Princes Sq. Delicious cakes.

gomez · 06/01/2009 16:28

7th March fits in neatly with 6-nations schedule so should be fine for me. Happy to go with the flow on food/cake/wine/gin etc.

Cheerio

geordieminx · 06/01/2009 16:32

You can count me in if thats ok - the bar na grill in Princes Square is fab, and there is another similar one on the courtyard level?

liath · 06/01/2009 19:23

Thanks for the info, NP - sounds like a lovely way to spend Christmas .

nickytwotimes · 06/01/2009 19:31

Hello.

Money permitting, I wouldn't mind coming along. I have a fairly free diary.

Never done a meet up before and am getting all brave.

geordieminx · 06/01/2009 19:44

Liath, I think you should come... I'll lead you astray look after you

liath · 06/01/2009 19:49

I'd love to GM (especially now I know where Princes Sq is) but there are a lot of birthdays around then (including dd's) so chances are I'll be busy. Will come along if it turns out I'm free.

I might come too. Do you all have young DC? Don't think my teenage boys would fancy a lunch with a load of "randomers"!

geordieminx · 06/01/2009 20:44

I was planning on leaving ds with dp - he's 20 months and very wild active!

gingerwench · 06/01/2009 20:55

I'm a possibility but waiting to find out dates of a trip down to London...If I do make it then I'd get the train from Waverley and bring DS.

Stefka · 06/01/2009 20:58

My DS is one and will probably be with me as DH is usually working at the weekends. I will be getting the train from Falkirk.

sweetkitty · 06/01/2009 22:07

My DDs are 4 3 and 5 months, I am in dire need of a child free lunch

geordie - yey I'm going to meet you and all you other lovely MNers

geordieminx · 06/01/2009 22:14

You should come to playgroup in Hamilton on a Wednesday - we have coffee and biscuits and everything!

sweetkitty · 06/01/2009 22:24

I go to playgroups Tuesday and Thursday and have to rush away at 11.15am for nursery pick up, The other days I have 2 in nursery so get a precious 2 hours just me and DD3.

We have cream cakes at our playgroups

prettybirdinapeartree · 07/01/2009 03:04

If Gomez says this fits in with the 6 Nations schedule, then i can make it !

Personlly, I think Buzzy Wares is better if kids are coming along - although it does relies on some Mumsneetters arriving early to "bags" tables. If kids are there, it assures access to tables which look onto the mosaic, whre kids can run around to their hearts' content. hwwere as D'Arcy's doesn't have a child friedly menu.

Don't think we should eat on the higher levels if kids are going to be around.

nailpolish · 07/01/2009 08:50

child friendly menus annoy the shit out of me
why cant they eat the same as grown ups?
i dont care where we go - but we have to bear in mind its saturday avo and it will be busy
we dont have to go to princes sq if anyone knows anywhere else

ginge i will chum you and ds on the train if thats ok

By "not child friendly" I meant fancy and too expensive!

Buzzy Wares is a bit more relaxed - and provided someone gets there before 12 to "bags" the tables outside, good for those people who do have kids as they enjoy running around the mosaic while we ignore them chat.

nailpolish · 09/01/2009 10:58

pb i apologise for biting your head off

There are plenty of other places - but none I know of that are as child and adult friendly in that we can have grown up chats in a gorwn up environment while the kids are still happy.

It is also conveneit for people coming over from Edinbiurgh

It is nice that they have thoe space.

But then, I don't knwo many places in Glasgow and I am sure that "better" Glaswegians than me could recommend somewhere else.
