Hi
I was also blatanly after new friends like SportingWidow but seem to keep missing the time Winchester folks are online! Is anyone around Mamado Sporting? or Shannaratiger anyone else?

I just moved here with DS 22 months and DH. I work part time in London but would love to find some new friends for us to hang out with on my days off.

Squirdle · 09/07/2008 22:09

Ooh is everyone moving to Winchester?

Hello all new Winchesterites. I live in Winchester...well in KW, just outside and have done for 2 and a half years. We love it here!

Bloss, I have a friend who moved from Australia in January to Winchester. She has 2 daughters aged nearly 5 and 2.

Winkygirl also lives here...I must e-mail her Ooh and Egg (we will meet up one day )and a few others...um Izzybiz and AmyJade...

Squirdle · 09/07/2008 22:09

Forgot to say, I have 3 boys aged 14, 5 and 3.

meebles · 09/07/2008 22:22

it seems like the whole of mumsnet lives here! I live right in the city centre.

Shannaratiger · 10/07/2008 06:29

Morning all

sportingwidow, bloss, mamado & unconvinced I am really looking forward to meeting up with you all. Abbey Grounds is the park in the middle of town where most mother meet ups happen on a nice day.
uppsydaisy dd has chicken pox atm, but is nearly better. She'll be back at playschool next week so maybe we could meet up as our ds's are the same age. Where abouts are you?
squirdle I have two friends in KW, will definately be their during the summer hols.

River Park leisure centre has a selection of children's activities. Will have a look and let you know (can't remember who asked)
Hello to vag, lou031205, MaryAnnSingleton, whispywhisp, and meebles. Can you tell I've written everyones name down or I'd forget everyone.
Nice to think of having new people to meet during the 6 weeks holiday.

I had better go and get breakfast started adn W/M on.

oooh, how exciting, lots of people to meet! Will only be in Winchester after the first week of august, but very much looking forward to meeting you all and hopefully making some new friends for me and both dds (and dp if any of your dh/dps are around!)......and you never know, maybe summer will eventually arrive in august and september!

UppsyDaisy · 10/07/2008 11:37

Hi
My DS has had the pox also! We'd love to meet up. We're in Weeke ( I think!) but we'll go anywhere. I'm free Mondays and Fridays.

How shall we all get in touch? My access to this is so sporadic that I'm afraid of missing out. Am I allowed to put my email on here?! Oh well, I'll try anyway:
[email protected]

Really looking forward to meeting you all, soon I hope!

Squirdle · 10/07/2008 13:11

Mine is bex at peerings dot net (replacing the dot and at obv.)

Shannaratiger · 10/07/2008 16:09

UppsyDaisy have sent you a brief e-mail.

Guessing summer holidays will be big meet-up time. Probably at the park in town, or if wet at the soft play area in the leisure centre.

whispywhisp · 10/07/2008 19:46

Hi to everyone who lives in/around Winchester. Hope you've all had a lovely day. VaginaShmergina is on hols atm but I'm sure she'll be in touch when she's home next week. She is lovely. Such a great laugh. Wicked sense of humour and lovely family. xxxx

Eve34 · 10/07/2008 20:19

evening all,

I am near winchester, in Eastleigh, not as psoh as you lot, but I don't bite honest. Be lovely to meet some old and new faces, about time I got out and about. So will keep an eye out for you all.

mamado · 13/07/2008 17:57

so it looks like chicken pox is doing the rounds...both dds have just had it, but at least the weather has been rubbish so we haven't missed any summer!

uppsydaisy and squirdle, will send you a brief email and hope we can meet up end of august or september

I'm very excited that there seem to be lots of friendly faces to meet in Winchester

mamado · 13/07/2008 19:07

meant to say, looking forward to meeting all of you

Shannaratiger · 18/07/2008 08:37

Morning all

sportingwidow, bloss, mamado & unconvinced hope your moving arrangemets are going well. Have you all got school places finalised, which ones have you chosen ( being v. nosey) If their is anything that you need help with, just post we'll try our best to help.
Looking forward to meeting up with you all.

sportingwidow · 19/07/2008 19:24

Finally got round to logging in again. Good to see some new names. Unfortunately I won't be around until end of august, apart from the odd flying visit, so will just have to try to catch up with people then. But only have 6 weeks left at work before going on early maternity leave (yippee!).
Shannara thanks for the offer of help, just need more hours in the day to get everything done. Mind you DH and I are making the most of DD 1 & 2 being with the inlaws this weekend and have had an afternoon siesta rather than doing anything constructive!

An update, ETA in Winchester Sunday 10th August, removal van arriving Monday 11th August.

Fairly certain life will be a bit chaotic for a few days, I will be making the internet connection a priority so that an be there when the meet up takes place.

Good luck to all the others who will be in the same stressfull place as me!!!!! Yoga will keep you calm.

By the way does anyone have dcs the same age as mine dd 9 ds 7?

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/07/2008 12:52

good luck with the move unconvinced ! went to Winch. on Friday - mooched around the shops, was lovely.

unconvinced · 28/07/2008 16:10

Thanks MAS, I wonder where all the others are?

Niecie · 28/07/2008 16:22

Gosh there are a lot of Winchester MNers!

I live down the road a bit in Basingstoke but Winchester is a frequent outing for us especially with two DS's into knights and castles (Round table etc).

Lovely place - we would happily move there if it weren't for the fact that DH has just set his business up in B/stoke. Still, maybe one day we will have to open a branch!!

Shannaratiger · 28/07/2008 16:25

I'm still watching this thread if anyone wants to meet up.

Have concluded that, although Abbey grounds park is lovely and the dc's have a great time, it's not the easiest place to get to know another adult unless both dc's decide to stay and play in the same area.
If it's raining the soft play area at river park is a much more sociable area, adn of course it has the vending machine adn cafe within easy reach.

unconvinced · 28/07/2008 16:35

I should imagine that the meet up will take place in September.

How exciting, I have never met a MN in real life, as I currently live in France.

Shannaratiger, both my dcs are of school age and I currently am not working so can be very flexible on time, just let me know.

meebles · 28/07/2008 16:47

Oooh, Shannaratiger I have just realised where your name comes from! (Have just discovered Terry Brooks).
I think my DD is a lot younger than everyone else's - she's only 8 months. If we went to the soft play I think I'd have to be in there with her!

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/07/2008 20:49

ds is 11,so am probably oldest mum/oldest child !

unconvinced · 30/07/2008 06:30

MAS, go on then tell us how old, bet I am not far off you!

Well, this is my last day on MN for a while as the lines will be cut of tommorow at 6am

Good luck to all those moving in the next few weeks and I am hoping to see you all in Winchester.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/07/2008 08:37

um,very nearly 50 (yikes)
