What does the Hambledon sell?
I think I will start up another Winchester meet up thread later. DC's are shouting for attention. BBL

Shannaratiger · 30/06/2008 07:28

sorry didn't look properly, won't start another thread. haven't woken up properly yet.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/06/2008 09:58

Hambledon sells the most lovely housewares, soaps, children's things, toys and upstairs very expensive clothes that I can't possibly afford...

sportingwidow · 30/06/2008 13:10

Think it was the Hambledon that sold W'chester to me! Only browsing allowed though.

UppsyDasiy hello, welcome to Winchester. My DS is 21 mnths. I live in Winnall, where are you?

whispywhisp · 07/07/2008 16:52

Hi...I live in Andover...just a few miles North of Winchester.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/07/2008 17:08

hello whispy -my aunt lives there, not too far from me...how old are your dcs ? I suspect I may be out of your interest range having an 11 yr old !!

whispywhisp · 07/07/2008 17:54

Hi Mary....I have two DDs...one of almost 10yrs old and one of 4yrs old. Where abouts in Andover does your Aunt live? I like it here. Its quiet and some lovely countryside. Winchester is lovely too though and great for shopping! How old are your DCs? xx

mamado · 08/07/2008 07:05

Hi UppsyDaisy. I'm moving there in about a month. My dd2 is 20 months and would love a friend

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/07/2008 10:18

whispy - my ds is just 11...my aunt lives in Croye Close, which is nr centre I think..haven't visited her there for some time though...love going into Winch. - any excuse really - can bribe ds with the promise of a cornish pasty from the pasty shop and a visit to the Hambledon where he loves the soaps and the furniture ( odd boy)

whispywhisp · 08/07/2008 10:38

Mary..Croye Close is a lovely road of very big houses!!! I used to work for an Estate Agent and went up there a fair bit showing properties. You can easily get lost in some of them they are that big! Yes Winchester is lovely. Great place for little shops up alleyways and side streets.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/07/2008 11:02

aunt's house not quite as big as some !! we used to go to Middle Wallop often with them for Army Air Day as my uncle was in the Army Air Corps..

whispywhisp · 08/07/2008 11:15

Mary..where do you live now?

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/07/2008 11:16

Alton

whispywhisp · 08/07/2008 11:19

Oh the same as VaginaShmergina!!!! Have you met her yet? I have!

My Grandmother lives in Alton. Just by the Church. She's 96 and still living independently. Amazing woman.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/07/2008 11:20

yes, I know Vagina lives locally - but haven't met her, though maybe we'll have passed in the street !! Does your granny live in one of those pretty houses looking on to the church or behind in those little roads ?

whispywhisp · 08/07/2008 11:26

She lives in one of the bungalows that are up one of the side roads in Alton. I don't want to put the name of the place on here but they're bungalows for the elderly. She loves it there - with all her friends nearby. She used to live in Borovere Gardens and before that at Orchard House which is up by the Police Station, near the Brewery.

Vagina is lovely, if you get to meet her. She's got two absolutely adorable kids and her DH is lovely too. She's away on her hols atm but back next week.

fircone · 08/07/2008 11:28

Just bought dd a raincoat from the hambledon - or rather dh did. vv cute but sooooooooooo expensive. luckily she has been getting lots of wear out of it

lovely clothes upstairs - but full of braying Henriettas squawking about 'coming down' from Oxford when i was last in there.

fircone · 08/07/2008 11:29

whoops, sorry, just seen that that hambledon discussion was last week and the subject's moved on. I'll but out.

whispywhisp · 08/07/2008 11:29

Scuse me for appearing a bit thick but what is Hambledon? I've not been into Winchester for a while! Does it show?!

whispywhisp · 08/07/2008 11:32

I used to bring my kids down to be fitted out with shoes from Startrite in Winchester - above Russell and Bromley.

Couple of years ago bought DD1 a pair of school shoes from there. She wore them for no more than a week and they fell apart. Startrite refused to give me my money back so I had to send them to their head office and get a partial refund.

I've not been back since. The staff were so bloody rude and clearly not interested in damaged goods. And with what you can easily pay out for shoes from Startrite I wasn't going to waste my money again.

Coming to Startrite was my main reason for coming down to Winchester, hence why I've not been down for a while.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/07/2008 11:39

The Hambledon is the most lovely but expensive shop - kind of life style thing - the clothes are gorgeous but way too expensive for me, kids stuff is brilliant - really fab toys- I put a link to it further down this thread..
whispy - I think I know where you mean !
