Hi, just thought I'd check this thread assuming it had died out...and I could stay a meet-up virgin...

...but it hasn't and since you are all planning to do something I was going to do anyway I have No Excuse!

So count us in: DD1 nearly 5 and DD2 nearly 2, Shitemum nearly of pensionable age.

Why do I feel so nervous?!

P.S. - Is there a plan B? And how will we know if plan B is to be put into operation? Just how bad does the rain have to be?!

bookswapper · 08/08/2008 22:17

how would a meet up virgin recognise you?

Shitemum · 08/08/2008 22:19

bookswapper - there'll be 10 of us and about 20 kids standing at the East gate in a mild drizzle looking excited!

I don't know any of them in RL either - are you coming?

bookswapper · 08/08/2008 22:34

quite possibly!
all depends on mercurial toddler and teething baby...
and, of course, on whether the bus will let my pram on!

Shitemum · 08/08/2008 23:02

Ah, have just been perusing that bus thread. I have avoided them so far this summer after being shouted at by a driver last year...
Hope you make it on Monday...

bookswapper · 08/08/2008 23:09

sometimes i think edinburgh is VERY child unfriendly

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 09/08/2008 07:53

we could all just get a very BIG taxi and avoid the buses!

luckylady74 · 09/08/2008 16:30

Hi all,
I'm afraid this is very cheeky of me, but I was hoping that some of you might have a child free hour to see my big brother's play? It's on all the fringe festival websites and it's called 'The Idiot Colony'. It's very moving and short! My brother wrote the play and my lovely sil is one of the 3 actors. I loved it when I saw it in Newbury and I'm sad I can't make it to the festival to see it.
I hope I haven't offended anyone jumping on your thread. Thanks

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 10/08/2008 14:55

forecast is calling for light showers...

nailpolish · 10/08/2008 15:00

think i'm the same. so fingers crossed that it's not too bad tomorrow!

aGalChangedHerName · 10/08/2008 18:28

Hi all

Won't see you girls tomorrow. The dds are both down with a d & v bug.

Will hopefully make the next one xx

lillee · 10/08/2008 19:07

Hi! Just popped in to see if any progress/changes. Totally agree if it's raining I will probably have to give it a by. Are we going to wait until tomorrow to see weather or is it cancelled? Would anyone be able to update tomorrow morning if it's still a possible?

mawbroon · 10/08/2008 20:11

I've just looked at the met office site which breaks the weather down into three hour chunks. It says sunny with a max of 18 all day, no mention of rain.

I must say I have usually found this site reliable....

agalch, sorry to hear about the dreaded D&V. Hope you don't catch it, and that your girls are better soon.

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 10/08/2008 20:26

lillee - i'll be online tomorrow before i leave. i think i'll try to catch the 11:20 train which gets me there for 12ish. do you still want to meet before?

i think i might still go if it's only raining a little. just to get out for a bit!

lillee · 10/08/2008 20:34

Hi SirDigby, update before you leave would be good. If its not too bad may well still brave the weather. Starting to feel guilty at cancelling, just thought it was on the verge of being cancelled.

Yep, up for meeting beforehand at station no problem. Will just check on train times.

But if weather is really bad will not come cos I could spend a rainy day in the Botanics here (albeit without adult company).

Be back in a mo.

BTW sorry your dds are poorly, hope they feel better soon.

lillee · 10/08/2008 20:34

That last comment was to agalchangedhername BTW!

Shitemum · 10/08/2008 21:45

Hi, I am still up for it even if it's raining a bit. However, I had a loose previous engagement with a friend who is calling me in the morning to confirm, if she can see me in the afternoon rather than the morning then I'll still go to the Botanics anyway since we're close by. Hope to see some of you!
Also, if it's too wet tomorrow does anyone want to try again on Tuesday?

mybabysinthegarden · 10/08/2008 23:17

I'm coming through to meet a friend so I'll come anyway-- happy to cower in the Cafe with a cake for a bit if it's bucketing!

liath · 11/08/2008 07:47

Well so far so good - the sun is shining .

Agalch, hope the kids are feeling better soon.

See you all later. I'm planning to walk there so will be the sweaty-looking blonde one with a dd & ds in quinny zapp and back carrier.
