I've just seen the Brighton piss-up thread and thought - oooo, that'd be nice.

Anyone else fancy meeting up in Birmingham for a meal/drink/whatever one evening?

I'll happily organise, so now we need dates. We could go for August/September time or earlier.

are we going to go anywhere after? reflex by the arcadian is good (broad street not so good and a bit rough) as is oceana cos there's something for everyone. the only other place i rate on broad street is dragon eye but probably wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

My last train leaves at 11pm so it can't be a mega-late one for me, but I'll go anywhere whilst I'm there. I am old though so you need to look after me.

Very nice, probably won't fit me and will do my back no good with being pregnant and having a bad back.

When I used to live on Broad St our beat sergeant said we were living in one of the safest places in Birmingham because there is so much police around. I used to go for walks down Broad St when I was on my own and bored. My favourite club down there is Flares. I used to go several times a week, I know the bouncers and regulars and during the week I didn't have to pay for drinks as reps from The Juries would buy them.

I miss living there and not having Tink! (sometimes, I love her really!)

With Flares it depends on when you go, I got to know the cycles of visitors. I used to go so often I knew the regulars so didn't have to worry too much about who else was there.

i went in the week once and it was ok, but weekends always made me feel a bit uncomfortable.

I don't like the weekends so much, they get over full and you lose the atmosphere there. In the week everyone does the dances and everything, it's like being in a disco. Weekends is like any other night club.

DH announced tonight that he's off to India on business on the 1st for ten days! Poo poo poo poo poo!

All is not lost however, I will try to sweet-talk my ILs into coming over to babysit. I'd farm DD off for the night but she didn't react well to being away from home last time DH was away. I will do my utmost to be there and may well be bringing a new recruit with me - a recently pregnant neice.

Oh no! Just seen this in active conversations - it has disappeared from my 'threads I'm on'.

Sadly I have to pass - dh is working away that week and not expected back til late on Friday.

I shall keep checking where you are going and if he does get back early (should know Friday morning what time he is leaving), then i shall hopefully join you.
