New mums in the Wakefield (West Yorkshire) Area

Hi, looking to contact new mums in the area for email chats, friendship and social outings/meet ups?

Just had my first baby 4 weeks ago, and although I absolutely love her to bits, I think I will crawl up the walls if I don't get some other sort of stimulation in the near future. It would be nice to speak to other new mums to discuss the joys and frustrations of motherhood, and anything else you want to talk about. It would also ne nice to have a reason to get out of the house with the little one. My Hv/midwife were not very useful when I asked about mum/baby groups.

Hope to hear from you!

Maz, can't offer much advice I am afraid as DD was breastfed and never suffered from constipation/wind as a baby. However she was very clingy and cried when she was put down. I used a babybjorn carrier during the day which seemed to comfort her.

If you cut and paste your message into a new thread you will probably get lots of useful advice - not everyone will be looking at a meet-up thread for west Yorks.

Maz, CAT means Contact Another Talker - you click on the link at the top of the page, and leave a message and the mumsnet team will pass on your message by email to another member.

How about Leeds? I don't know what there is to offer there for children. Maybe Yorkiegirl will know.

MazArnold · 11/01/2005 14:49

Hi all! Many thanks for your messages about the crying - didn't want to start up a new thread about it - just wanted to quickly pick your brains. I have tried a few of your suggestions but not others, so I'll revist them all.

Anyway, back to the issue at hand - I personally am pretty flexible on where to meet - Leeds is fine with me, as is Freeport in Castleford, which was mentioned earlier (could then combine the meeting with shopping). This will be my first real outing on my own so afraid I/m not too hot on good places that accommodate kids as yet. I'll have a think though. Yorkiegirl mentioned Cheeky Monkeys or Playdayz in Leeds, but I don't know where these are?

If we are coming from Barnsley, Leeds, Wakefield (Normanton) and Dewsbury we need to be somewhere pretty central, and also need to bear in mind people who might not drive. I know Bubbles doesn't drive.

Bubbles, have now changed my member profile to allow CAT's. Didn't realise I was blocking them! .

Hiya Maz,

Don't worry about it, I didn't realise that I was blocking it either until I tried to contact you.

I have e-mailed you.

I'd be happy to arrange a meetup in the near future.

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/01/2005 11:56

I don't drive either and I know it might sound daft but DH does'nt like dd to go on buses so I will have to see if he'll give me a lift.
Where is cheeky monkeys and playdayz? Are we going to meet up soon? I think I'm blocking CAT's at the moment but will unblock them.
How will you travel Bubbles?

BubblesDeVere · 12/01/2005 11:57

NBG, I will be travelling by bus, it will have to be on a day when DH isn't working so that he can pick dd1 up.

That should be good, she loves playing with other children. When should we meet up?

Yeah I could do with some directions if that's where everyone wants to go.

BubblesDeVere · 12/01/2005 12:51

Sorry all, I won't be able to make Playdayz, as its too difficult to get there by bus, I think it needs at least 3 buses.

Have fun though.

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/01/2005 12:56

Can you get to leeds at all bubbles? If not we can go somewhere else. Any other suggestions anyone?

We previously mentioned Freeport in Castleford.

The main consideration is how everyone else is to get around? If you are all OK, Freeport would be a good idea so Bubbles can get there, or an another local alternative to Wakefield as I am not sure what kidz facilities are at Freeport.

I'd love to be able to offer Bubbles a lift being so local, but my car isn't very practical,
(I only have 1 spare seat after I've housed DD and her carrycot).

Got your CAT Bubbles, and I'll email you.
