Don't thin we have a name for the break. One term ends on the 4th and the next one begine two weeks later (20th?).

My DH thinks I'm really podantic. I have this feeling you are going to agree with him.

Anyway, sorry you came to the meet-up. Hopefully see you at the next one.

bump

Page62 · 12/03/2008 17:51

GUYS,
Booking this is proving to be a nightmare!

Right,
He said first it has to be either a 7pm booking or a 930 pm booking

If it's a 7pm booking, we will have to be defintiely out by 9pm, which i think is a bit crap.

Two options, we agree with 7pm 2 hour seating at this restaurant

or

we book somewhere like Newtons (i go there a lot ) - nice, good atmosphere, nothing fancy food, with good service. But not trendy or fusion-like stuff with Tsunami.

www.newtonsrestaurants.co.uk

closest tube is still clapham common

Page62 · 12/03/2008 17:52

welcome to any other suggestions, of course!!!

micrathena · 13/03/2008 08:17

I agree that the two hour booking is not really up my customer service standards. You know what Americans are like!

I know nothing about Clapham restarant scenen. My only request is theat is be a short(ish) walk to the train.

Does the silly sushi restaurant know we dink a lot? I mean how stupid is this eat and get out rule when a crowd of peapole want to sit a drink expensive alcohol. Idiots. They probably deserve to lose our business on the basis of their own stupidity.

micrathena · 13/03/2008 08:21

scenen=scene

Ineedacleaner · 13/03/2008 08:23

This may sound really odd, you know it says everybody welcome could I ask my sister if she fancies it? She is a Scot living and working in London (works in Clapham) and she works really long hours and doesn't get to meet many people.

SHe might not be able to she works shifts but would anyone mind if I asked her?

Page62 · 13/03/2008 09:33

Ineedaclearner, of course we won't mind at all!

Micrathena, do you need Clapham Junction railway station or is Clapham Common tube station ok? If it is the latter, this newtons restaurant will still be within walking distance (it will be equidistant to Clapham Common and Clapham South tube station) on the northern line.

Clapham Junction, you will need a cab, but the restaurant will surely call us one, and if there is more than one of you, then that makes most sense - i reckon at that time of the night, it will be c 8 minutes away.

There is another restaurant called Cinnamon Cay on Lavender Hill, which would be nearer to Clapham Junction (still a good 15 minute walk though), but will not be near Tube.

Shall i book Newtons? If you don't fancy menu there, there is an Italian restaurant next door to it or a newly opened French restaurant in front of it (i haven't tried it).

legalalien · 13/03/2008 10:10

I'm not fussy about location since will probably be getting a cab home. As long as I don't have to look trendy or eat shellfish, sardines or brussels sprouts, and there's plenty of white wine, I'll be fine. . I say go with Newtons as it sounds like the easiest option (and looks nice as well).

Page62 · 13/03/2008 10:18

OK unless there are any strong objections, I will book Newtons now for 8 people (can always add or subtract later). They know me well there, and the service is good, and lots of wine.

Legalalien, i frequent the place, so that is your best indicator no need to look trendy

micrathena · 13/03/2008 10:31

I need Clapham Junction, but happy to jump in a cab to the station. So, Newtons is fine.

Okay, since you frequent the place does this mean we are suppose to behave ourselves? HA! Good luck to your reputation.

Ineedacleaner · 13/03/2008 10:36

Spoke to my sister she is really keen and will make sure she is not working, she is a bit concerned she is not a mum though
Thanks for letting her come along she doesn't get the chance to meet people. You are all fab ladies.

micrathena · 13/03/2008 10:40

She doesn't have to be mum to join us. Just so long as she does not feel left out becaue of course much of the conversation will be about children.

Tell her to come on here and introduce herslef and she can get to know us a bit and decide if she really wants to subject herslef to our company.

MarsLady · 13/03/2008 10:44

Why can't you all go out on a Thursday? Then I'd be in the area and could do my salsa afterwards.

Now I'm going to have to look in my diary.... Pencil me in!

micrathena · 13/03/2008 10:54

We have already been through the pick a date and town voting process. But, you are welcome to join us if you can make Friday.

Now who have I missed? Add/delete as apprpriate.

Ineedacleaner · 13/03/2008 11:00

She won't be bothered about child talk I am sure she has plenty of tales about my 2 to join in.
She doesn't have the internet but will tell her to come on next time she gets near a computer.

I did speak to her and she is keen to go as long as nobody minds she isn't a mum so you can rub out the pencil and put her in ink, her name is Lyn.

I don't want to paint a pethetic picture of her but she works funny hours and doesn't really get much chance to meet people she will enjoy a meal and some wine in good company.
Thank you all for letting her go you are a fantastic bunch of ladies.

micrathena · 13/03/2008 11:29

Oh, she has to have odd mumsnet code name that we can all call her.

Page62 · 13/03/2008 11:36

I think BecauseImWorthIt can't make it....as per earlier posts

micrathena · 13/03/2008 11:44

I was being facetious... cos I'm a lazy moo. However, I'm also a nosey moo and would love to come down and join you (plus I have a friend in the area that I could visit beforehand)

AtheneNoctua · 13/03/2008 15:00

Or you could bring her with.

MarsLady · 13/03/2008 15:01

Well she is a nonregular MNer.

AtheneNoctua · 13/03/2008 15:02

It has been brought to me attention that Micrathena is thought by some to be a spider and now an owl and that just will not do. So had to go for Athen Noctua -- cute little owl of the Parthenon.
