Here.

OP posts:

Were thinking of 4 nights/5 days in Davy Crockett. The package, including entry to the parks, costs £900 for the four of us.

Berrie · 03/01/2008 11:03

Yikes!

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 11:04

Davy Crockett is 15 mins drive from the Disney parks so were planning to drive. The ferry alone costs £100

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 11:05

Berrie, were you going to ask about Disney or holidays in general?

binklegoestoLondon · 03/01/2008 11:06

I dont know from experience what the Davy Crockett is like but I think my brother stayed there and enjoyed it. The good thing is everything is very easy to get to - it isnt a mammoth trek like in Florida.

The room quality at Paris is much nicer than Florida too in my opinion. We are thinking of going back to Florida this summer but having a week at Disney and then a week in the keys but I'm not overly keen on flying so we are still debating that one!

binklegoestoLondon · 03/01/2008 11:08

There is the disney bus though isnt there that picks up at all the different hotels/lodges etc

binklegoestoLondon · 03/01/2008 11:08

the shuttle I mean not the dreaded disney airport bus!!

Berrie · 03/01/2008 11:09

Holidays in general.
I'd like to go to France this summer.
Also, we have a gift of £400 for our anniversary which we'd like to use soon. It was supposed to be for a theatre break for me and DH but we don't feel able to leave the children so will take the children. Where would you go?

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 11:11

We were thinking of doing that at Easter (week at Disney World, week on the coast) but then I looked at the cost of flights and they're ridiculous.
Have you been to Florida in summer? It's incredibly hot. Not sure DSs would cope with the heat.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 11:12

Binkle, the shuttle doesn't pick up from Davy Crockett according to the Disney site.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 11:13

We went to the south of France last year which was lovely but expensive. other than that I don't know France at all except paris. If you wanted to take DC to Disney, it's miles cheaper outside school holidays.

Berrie · 03/01/2008 11:15

No, doesn't appeal. Just fancy somewhere other than Cornwall though every time we go somewhere else we wish we'd gone to Cornwall!

Zebedeedoodah · 03/01/2008 11:26

Just you wait. Cornwall will have a brilliant summer, and then you'll regret it.
Hmm, where do people who live in Cornwall go on holiday? Drunken New Year's Eve conversation was about Ireland, or possibly Scotland. I can't face a long haul flight with DS, and certainly not anything involving US immigration, or is that just pathetic?

Berrie · 03/01/2008 11:28

Twill definatly rain in Ireland!

Zebedeedoodah · 03/01/2008 11:29

I know, and Scotland's full of midges. Personally, my favourite place I've ever been is Syria, but I'm not sure I fancy that just now.

Berrie · 03/01/2008 11:33

What were you doing in Syria?

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 11:34

I'm not going anywhere in the UK, especially after last (non) summer.
We're thinking of southern Italy for the summer. A villa with pool and cheap flights with Ryanair. Zeb, Italy's less than two hours flight. Short flights have always ben fine with DSs.

Berrie · 03/01/2008 11:44

Good point...

Berrie · 03/01/2008 12:00

We were in Cornwall the year of the heatwave where there was all that fuss about getting to 100'. There was thick fog the entire week in Cornwall...

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 12:02

What about camping in France? Some friends of ours went camping on the Atlantic costs last year and they loved it. Three weeks in a tent on a Eurocamps site cost them about £1,000 I think.
The weather's more reliable there.

Berrie · 03/01/2008 12:05

Sounds good. Did they drive?

Berrie · 03/01/2008 12:05

3 weeks might be a bit testing though!

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 12:10

They did drive. The price included the ferry crossing iirc.
I think you can do two weeks in a mobile home for about the same price.

Berrie · 03/01/2008 12:12

Oops just visited the put away box again for a choccie biscuit or two!

Is that with Eurocamp too? Do you know which one?

LyraSilvertongue · 03/01/2008 12:13

It was Eurocamp but I don't know the name of it. It was in the Vendee. They've been twice.
